Derby

Derby is one of the deepest, strongest, and wettest woody fragrances (with a bit of spices) I’ve ever tested. It has something animalic about it and, oddly enough, it reminds me of a horse stable with racehorses right before a race. It’s a very intense, dark, animalic spicy-woody scent with a certain dampness that makes it feel even more powerful. In fact, I pick up the different wood notes much more strongly than the spice notes. Dark, wet, powerful wood — real wood, nothing synthetic. Overall it’s an interesting fragrance that I would actually wear, but I probably wouldn’t make any new friends while doing so. On skin it has strong sillage and very long longevity, but to my nose it stays fairly linear after the first spray. An interesting niche fragrance that should be worn with enough self-confidence, because people will definitely comment on it — not necessarily with compliments. And like all niche fragrances, definitely not a blind buy.
