Blind bought this fragrance while it was on sale. I must admit- it is much better than what I expected, and a good deal for the price (got it for $36). Rocawear is a bit of a hybrid fragrance, in which it minces many of the favorite scents of fall and spring together to give a wonderfully blended smokey woods with hints of light coffee in the background. When it first hits the skin, it is wretched with a fruity, almost pineapple scent that cannot be ignored; strong, but certainly pleasant. After a few minutes, it dries down to the wonderful tones described before. Longevity is slightly above average, as I got around 6 hours (maybe a little more) with decent rising projection for about half of that. The scent is fairly pleasant and complex to a degree, with varying levels of notes rising throughout the life of the fragrance. I did not expect this much from such a cologne, but I was not disappointed to say the least. Buy, try or pass? Try it first, and if the notes agree with you, try to find it on sale (either online or in store). Spray recommendations: 2 to the chest, 2 to the neck, and one spray elsewhere if desired. It is strong at first, but dwindles after a short time to a very manageable projection. Best seasons? Most likely fall and spring, just to be on the safe side with these notes. You can wear it for summer, but I would recommend going easy on the trigger at first until you gauge the life and strength of this scent. Longevity: 6/10 (6+ hours on the right skin) Projection: 6/10 (2-3 hour cloud) Versatility: 7/10 (Good throughout the year, and any informal/ formal event) Smell: 7/10 (Pleasant, complex, and fresh)

First off i'd like to thank mkpunk who i message and asked him what gourmand frags in his collection he would reconmedation for me to try...and he said try this bad boy. Mannnnnnn! This frag is a sleeper hit! Point blank! Carry around a travel atomizer to solve the projection & longevity issues that will pop up. But that's the only con to this fragrance. The note pyramid is amazing...and as a whole, this gourmand beauty won't do you wrong my brothers & sisters. Just picked up a 3.4 oz bottle of this in an eBay auction for $11.11! (Lucky!!!) This is similar to Polo Double Black and Polo Red to me, but with mango, while having a darker/warmer/more manly vibe from the smoky incense. If you like incense, this is absolutely a safe blind-buy, especially for the price. The dry down of this scent becomes a bit deep/dark, but it retains just the right amount of sweetness to balance it out. It lasted on me about 6 hours last night, however it's a skin scent for half that time. Projection is perfect for the first hour and a half, kind of average for the 2 hours after that, but again, the last half of the dry down, it's a skin scent. Overall, I LOVE this for an $11 cheapy! If I were on an extreme budget, this could easily replace Polo Red, Kenneth Cole Black, Fahrenheit Le Parfum, and CK IN2U, in my collection, at least. I won't say that I like it better than all of those, of course, but it does share something in common with all of them. However, the boozy vibe and Blue De Chanel-esque incense and dark mango firmly separate it from the rest. It's as if they took the best features of a bunch of other scents and combined them into this one, and the end result is an all-occasion cool weather scent that I think most people will enjoy. Lastly - If you haven't seen the bottle in person, it's much nicer in hand than it looks in pictures online. It has a dark gunmetal chrome cap and a black yet just slightly transparent bottle.

Spicy sweet mango and boosy rum with a hint of smokey incense and the bite and Zest of rich rhubarb. Classy, mysterious, seductive, party, night scent. Well blended. Doesn't smell cheap or synthetic. Smells extremely expensive. Ignore the Jay-Z branding and make up any name for this if someone asks you about it. 3.4oz for around $20 US, this is easily one of the best top ten value celebrity scents of all time. Very unique. Wear this and nobody will smell like you. Loved by college girls where I live. Hint of coffee smell but that might be a few other notes that are mixing in the background. Like someone else mentioned - a mix between Polo Double Black and Dolce and Gabbana The One and perhaps 212 VIP and Muglers Pure Malt - the real star of the show is the excellent dry down - very similar to V&R Spice Bomb. Projects for 3 hours and lasts for 6. Bottle and sprayer are nothing special. 9/10 Buy it love it, buy a backup bottle.

This is a wonderful scent for the price you pay ($20-$25). For me it opens up with a blast of Rum mixed with some fruits, and then the dry down has this nice and elegant Coffee note that just makes me think of the Fall and Winter. That being said, I think this a great bang for your buck fragrance that is great for the colder day and nights (Fall and Winter), but could also be pulled off as a date scent, as well as a clubbing scent. But for me this thing is a heavy hitter for Fall and Winter. Longevity with this fragrance is never an issue on my skin. I absolutely adore this fragrance and think it's certainly worth every penny! This is crazy... It's a Saturday morning and I smell something really nice as I'm driving to the football field. I had put nautica voyage on my wrist 2 hours early... But that's not what I'm smelling... It's coming from the back of my hand... Where I had sprayed rocawear evolution the night before when I went out. It's been about 12 hours and I can still slightly pick up whiffs of it. Amazing. When I apply it, it does not project much at all, but wow, does this have lasting power! Nice boozy, mango, and incense scent, but the incense doesn't kick it til late (around the last hour or 2) Scent 8/10 Longevity 15/10 lol Projection 3/10 Value 10/10 Seasons Any Occasions Work, Date, Casual

I got this one for my son, and it has become his "go to" fragrance because of its versatility. He began wearing Evolution during his Masters internship, speaking before our State's legislature as an advocate for those in poverty. It is surprisingly appropriate for professional settings. Plus, the girlfriend really likes it too! (And she's particular.) While incense and tonka are always present, the other notes ebb and flow. Mango and rhubarb are so well blended- creating more nuance than main attraction. I find this cologne to be very balanced, with just the right amount of sillage. Two thumbs up!

WOW!!! This is a sleeper, I never would have imagined that this would smell as good as it does. I went to the mall to get the new John Varvatos and I ended leaving with this instead and I'm very happy I did. Longevity and sillage are great and this was well recieved by everyone I let sample. This is a winner for me, many will pass or refuse to like it because its Rocawear but if you have a open mind give it a shot and you just might like it.

Warm, cozy, incense, just the right amount of sweetness... This is the equivalent of chicken noodle soup. It's a great scent for those days when it's cold out and you'd rather be at home tucked under the blankets. Not enough f*s to give to wear something more expensive, just give me something warm and cozy. Sometimes, it's just what you need. Definitely worth having for the price.

When I seen the comparisons to JV dark rebel I thought no way, I just now starting getting whiffs of dark rebel. The rum in this fragrance is the same rum used in dark rebel. And the combo of rum mango oddly gives it some comparisons to dark rebel.

Got this today for twelve dollars today. Didn't know what what to expect, but what a pleasant surprise. Smooth, spicy,incense/coffee/nutmeg/clove... Reminds me of a more tame version of AMen ...in a good way. Great find!

A Cologne That Truly Surprises The Buyer! The Smell And Scent That It Leaves On You Lasts Such A long Time That it Keeps Your Nose And Others Wanting More!

My experience with frag's is limited so all I will say is I like it a lot and I got it for 17 bucks at ross. Safe blind buy at that price.

IMHO - 2 sprays is no where near enough. I love this fragrance but I apply 8 or sometimes more.

Best men's perfume I've ever smelled. Lasts ages and doesn't change a lot.

This is good juice. Before Gold came out, this was my daily driver.

Good smell Poor longevity and projection

Another under rated fragrance from this house ! This is a great fragrance and to me it smells like a mix between Polo Double Black and Dolce and Gabbana The One. So if you like either or both of these fragrances you deffinitly need to check out this fragrance as it smells amazing and for a great price !!! This starts out smelling like Double Black as theres some coffee with something fruity in the background(it kind of smells like pineapple even though pineapples arent in the note breakdown) A lot of people like the opening but honestly the opening was only ok to me. In the mid that coffee takes over,some spices(incense) kick in and in the background that rum comes to play really rounding this fragrance out and making it more smooth and slightly creamy. The drydown is pretty much the same except the rum and what smells like amber take over the fragrance making this smell like a gourmand. This is a great fragrance for the cooler weather especially if your into BLACK or darker fragrances. It would also be a great fragrance to get if your trying to get your nose more used to gourmand fragrances. Performance on this is average. This lasts on me 3-6 hours and only projecting average as well. Id give this a solid rating of 8.5 out of 10 ! Amazing scent for average performance and I love rum notes when done right so this gets bonus points for that :D ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Great compliment getter and smells like a much more expensive scent ! Rocawear Evolution is a scent that I overpaid on but I still really like the scent. It is anomaly. It is a boozy, coffee incense scent that goes a little sweet in the base. I don't like coffee especially black coffee like this (give me cappucino notes anyday), yet the coffee note works in this fragrance. I don't like incense, yet the incense note works in this fragrance. The opening is dominated by black rum. I say this because this rum note smells like say Kraken as oppose to say Malibu in Joop Homme Wild. This combines with some Polo Black-like mango but in about an hour fades out into the coffee dominated balsamic mid with due to incense with sweet tonka heavy base that has some musk and amber in it as well. As I mentioned I'm not big into coffee and incense but they are masked enough in this scent somehow. I can't explain it but they are. This is a good date night scent. It may also work in a bar but it isn't a club banger honestly. It performs so good surprisingly. It works any season, even summer. This scent is pretty good, i'd rate it at a 7.8. Very good and unique for its low-end price-point. I rate it so high because it has scents I don't like in other scents YET they work in this fragrance. It's almost a love but not quite.

This is a very nice boozy, creamy gourmand for an affordable price point that yet again proves that alternatives to Thierry Mugler abound under the names Jordan Legend, Rochas Man, Animale Animale, Boss Soul, etc..(All offering young initiates a great entry point to the wonderful world of gourmands) Doesn't have the same longevity or projection of its influences but Evolution offers a nice evolution from boozy and rough to fruity and spicy to creamy and woodsy, making for a fun and enjoyable wear in fall and winter or on a cool, crisp evening. Longevity tends to stick to the 5-8 hour mark, depending on the weather and skin but projection is consistently soft and lingers more in the realm of skin scent after around the twenty minute mark. This is a subtle blend of gentle spice, cream and fruit that won't get noticed, but is perfect for casual evenings and intimate affairs. The incense here is far better blended into the mix of ingredients, though dominant, it doesn't overwhelm the overall composition here like it does in Zirh's Ikon.

Pros: You can really pick up on the notes listed in the pyramid. They're there, which is more than I can say for a lot of fragrances with crazy note lists. Also, it smells pretty good, generally appealing, and it's different enough from a lot of drugstore designer frags on the market. I like that Rocawear brought rum and coffee, and mandarin and incense to the mix, but... Cons: The ingredients are really cheap. This falls apart after a couple of hours and what started out as nice scent becomes a chemical mishmash of cheap tonkabeans and a flat, imprecise amber with a little bit of the coffee note hanging on. It just becomes really 'blah' in the end, with little distinction or structure. I liked this when I first got it, and for the initial couple of hours, but it got old quickly. I recommend spending an extra $30 and buying Givenchy Play Intense instead, or $15 more and getting Calvin Klein Encounter. Not a bad gift for a teenager (no offense teenagers!), but if you're serious about your scents, look elsewhere.

A fairly nice scent for its price (7.99 at TjMaxx).. I had read the reviews before and I saw this in the store, and I thought, "I should most definitely give this a try!" and so 10m waiting in line, $8 later, and a car ride home, I applied it to myself for the night, since I was going out. Powdery, but at the same time masculine and dark. Smells sweet, like a smooth chocolate sweet, not a department store candy sweet. I'm also smelling some spice in it, which is a very nice addition, almost woodsey. More suitable for night time encounters, but perhaps a dark, cold winter's day (like today!) would be alright to wear it. Reminds me of less pungent Bhutanese natural incense, mixed with perhaps some chocolate or something of the like to smooth it out, could be vanilla for all I know. Not catching the fruit scents or lavender mentioned, but it could just be me. Fairly good longevity and projection, it gets compliments! I give it an 8/10, very nice scent but longevity projection could be a little better.

Definitely worth the little money I bought it for, but that's about where the accolades end. Don't get me wrong, I like the fragrance, but it's nothing that grabs me and says "this is what to wear today, tomorrow, and the future." I find it a little uninspiring, much like the artist who attached his brand to it, but much like him, it's not terrible, just wouldn't go out of my way to get it again. I can sense the balsamic tones, the sweetness, and the subtle spiciness, but that's where it ends for anything noticeable. I think the nutmeg/spice tone stands out the most, but not in a way that I think makes this a no-brainer buy. I really smell Polo Extreme Black in it, but toned down, and on me it doesn't last anywhere near as long as PEB. So far it's really the only fragrance I bought based on the reviews here that was a letdown of sorts.

Thanks for the reviews friends, they were accurate and this is totally my style. Purchased cheaply online, under 15$ US for a 30 ml/1 oz sprayer. Out the box, it reminded me of starwalker. When I sprayed, it was very very different. In my collection, this reminds me of a cross between kokorico, and burberry london. Creamy, spicy, tobacco. I guess the sweetness comes from mango but I don't know. If this projected more, it would be up there on my favourites, guaranteed. As it stands, I think this fragrance (due to the weak projection) is great for a night in when you're entertaining in cooler weather. It is a skin scent and I think my wife will love it. I do. I think Rocawear + Jay Z have put out some awesome stuff, especially for the price. 3/3 I have tried, I have really liked. Awesome blind buys, each of them.

The scent is generic! It's like the designer mixed a batch of assorted popular scents and voila, we have Evolution. It is a pleasant enough fragrance with an huge achilles heel. Projection and sillage is so short-lived that a re-application is necessary on an hourly basis. After applying eight squirts on my neck and chest it transformed into a skin scent within 45 minutes To get a decent performance, you need to drench your shirt with this stuff. Four squirts under each arm-pit, two on each shoulder, two on the chest and two or three on the back of the collar. And that is only enough to get you through the morning rush hour commute! For the asking price, its reasonably good value; you just need a decent size decant handy for re-application on a regular basis throughout the day.

This is a nice addition to my collection. The fruit accords in the top notes blend nicely with the rum to create an intoxicating aroma. The coffee, nutmeg, and incense in the heart comes into play fairly quickly - at this point, I can see the resemblance to JV. The base notes are pretty common for oriental woody fragrances but combined with the top and heart makes Evolution a surprisingly sexy fragrance. Evolution smells like a mixture of CK Encounter and Polo DB... but Evolution lasts much longer and the notes are more pronounced on my skin. I have gotten 8 hrs out of this, and I was quite surprised because this tends to wear close to the skin. For this to be so cheap, you get so much quality.

Rocawear Evolution was a small blind buy (very cheap, at $8 for 30ml at Ross) due the positive reviews that I had seen, and it did not disappoint. It's a warm spicy gourmand, with elements of tonka, coffee, liquor, and spices. I'm not sure that one note is so dominant but I definitely get the spicy coffee vibe more than any other expression. Evolution certainly leans toward a summer or winter night given how dark it is on the whole. Projection and longevity are nothing to write home about, but that makes it a viable casual nighttime option throughout the year. A surprising find, a pleasant dark EDT option that's fun to smell. 7 out of 10

It's pretty good. On my skin, it's similar to Polo Double Black with the strong coffee, nutmeg, and mango notes. It's similar to Polo DB with those notes and the general smell, but more powdery than Polo, which has a more smoky vibe to it. In the end, I'd say I'd prefer Polo over this, as Polo is slightly less linear than this one with its fresh mango pepper top, smoky coffee nutmeg pepper mid and sweet patchouli woodsy base. Rocawear is fresh at the top and then dries down to the powdery mid and base similar to Polo's. Give them both a shot and see which you like better.

Slightly thick, almost sickly, strong thanks to rum, rhubarb and incense. 3 very thick notes you won't see used often in the same bottle. A wearable, man's fragrance that I think would be a very platonically attractive smell as well as romantic. This is the kind of scent that you're not too impressed with at first but the more you think about it the more it grows on you, much like Police Wings. I can see mlyself asking for this for christmas. Youthful smell more suited to 20-something.

Great entry-level incense fragrance. This is a nice surprise, not a monster at projecting/sillage and a short life on the skin but for what you pay for it you don't mind a few extra sprays. Spiciness and dark notes like rum give it a rough edge. This scent summons images of various events and activities throughout the year, day and night for which you can wear. Definitely a masculine fragrance that is simple, it will not change at all over time. It seems all notes hit you up front.

I really want to try this one, but I'm not sure where it's available. My local Macy's doesn't carry it in their stores, and I don't do blind buys because I've always ended up wasting money on a cologne that sounded good, but didn't turn out well for me. Does anyone have any store suggestions?

Well its a decent scent not bad it has a sweet spicy smell to it my girl thinks its decent i got it because i liked 9ix so i tried it plus i got the set for $35 it was worth it but anyways its OK! check it out guys that like sweet fragrances should like this

Not a bad scent..... Just a little too sweet for me. The sweetness dies down after about an hour but it does still linger. I think it would be a nice evening scent in the fall.

Plastic, plastic, and more plastic. If you want to smell like plastic then Evolution by Rocawear fits the bill. It's def not a bad fragrance it's just that there are other offerings better in overall scent,projection, and longevity. I think if they had added alittle black currant and made the juice richer and more stronger this would be an excellent fragrance.

This is not a good fragrance for me. I bought it because the guy at the fragrance counter told me it was really nice. He gave me a sample on paper and it smelled ok. When I got home and sprayed it on me I did not like it. It did not last on my skin at all. So now I spray it on my pillows when I change the bed.

Performance sucks. I get a light amber base in the same category as Avon Tomorrow. This was a total flop and I see why. I can't really pick up any other notes except for a touch of coffee and musk.

Timid and nondescript. To me it has an indifferent, not well defined gourmand note that doesn't project.

Purchased a little over a week ago, and it is something else fine! Did NOT like the other Rocawear offerings even one little bit, but tried this b/c I sprayed it on my wrists at Belk and the development was amazing. Here's the way it went down for this writer (it may be different for you, since everyone has a signature skin chemistry): TOP NOTES are fresh citrus and just a tad spicy-sweet and provide an immediate mental/emotional "uplift". MIDDLE NOTES are mildly spicy, amazing, and unfold naturally from the top notes. These heart notes are, for the most part, the best part of the fragrance. The coffee is subtle yet "there" and really adds a special uniqueness to this juice. BASE NOTES were the ones I was most concerned about, because musk tends to get rancid on my skin. No problem w/this musk! It's sweet and mild and not prominent at all. The Tonka bean and amber are smooth and relaxing and both notes mix very well and last for quite awhile. Projection is obvious yet not overpowering to others, and you will not be aware of what a great aroma this stuff offers to those around you. Comments from others -- both genders -- have been totally positive. As for me, I love to spray in on my chest, wrists, and neck and just inhale. It's amongst the top 4 or 5 I own, and believe me, I own a lot -- including some Creed and Bond #9 fragrances. I would pit this one against any fragrance I have in my collection. My recommendation: BUY IT! YOU'LL LOVE IT. 5 + rating!

Oh my goodness! This fragrance is really sexy. I'm surprised to discover that Rocawear is a celebrity brand owned by Jay-Z, and even more surprised that Trey Songz is the face of Evolution. These artists aren't who I usually listen to or follow, however the guy I'm seeing loves their music and has subjected me to quite a few of their songs. He has also introduced me to quite a few sweet, ambery masculines during the course of our relationship. He's going to love me when I buy Evolution for him. Looks like Valentine's Day is going to smell a lot like Evolution by Rocawear. This fragrance is sweet, there's no doubt about it. Evolution opens with richly flavoured rum, sugary rhubarb and a subtle, creamy hint of coffee. The heart is much smoother and richer with smoky amber and tonka bean, providing a slightly gourmand quality. The drydown becomes increasingly more ambery and incensey, settling only slightly and remaining rather thick and heavy on the skin. The longevity in this case is incredibly lasting, even stronger on fabric. I highly recommend Rocawear Evolution. Its amazing quality had fooled me into thinking that this was more than a celebrity brand.

Like most people that bought this cologne, I came across its bland looking bottle at Target. A tester was available and upon smelling my arm, I was taken back by how remarkably captivating this smelt (considering it was being sold at Target). After some thinking, I realized the opening and mid smell exactly like a combo of sweet tea and cypress. This might not sound like much but it has this power of relaxing you and that's what makes it so captivating. Although longevity is about 7 hours on my skin, the drydown past hour 3 isn't much to write home about, just a lot of chocolate and some amber/powder, not so much coffee. For anyone that has doubts about the gender likes of this fragrance -- rest assured -- it's definitely masculine. Performance (projection, sillage, longevity) were all above average, and outstanding considering its price. For that reason, there's a ton of value in this thing. A 3.4oz bottle can be had on eBay for as little as $18. Smell 8.5/10 Performance 8/10 Versatility 9/10 Value 10/10 Overall 8.9/10

If Rochas Man is a 9 or 10 on the intensity scale this one is more like a 2 o a 3. There's the fruity element here, which is fine, and then there's a mellow coffee and lavender, with a hint of spice, musk, etc. It's not especially sweet and it's a bit dry, actually. Strength is mediocre but not bad. I can't say I detect any "woods" nor incense, other than perhaps a slight textural quality. If you already have RM or Pure Coffee and don't find them too strong, then I doubt you would like this one (though perhaps using 5 or more sprays would bring out the notes better - I used 2). As a gift this should be excellent, so long as the person doesn't mind this sort of scent. UPDATE: After a few hours it became like a cross between a Burberry's London for Men scent and a mild Rochas Man one, with the wood note taking the stage. To the person who said you need at least 5 sprays, I think for me that would land this one in nausea territory, probably due to the lavender note.

Not very original, this is an obvious merging of Polo Black, Givenchy Play Intense and the first two boozy John Varvatos releases into one cologne that doesn't do proper justice to any of them. Extremely common but enjoyable regardless for the first two hours of wear when you get a nice relaxed booziness, coffee house meets exotic fruits aisle meets spice rack feel that quickly sticks to the skin and settles in as a skin scent for most of the duration after the first hour. Could have been great but there's just too much ambition in the note pyramid and not enough professional mixing to pull it off brilliantly to hide the odd clash of balsamic and tropical. A nice budget option for the 30 and under crowd, other than mediocre performance the scent itself is decent and a good introduction into the world of gourmands; though Michael Jordan's Legend serves as a better entry point. Can be had for cheap at discounters across North America.

This stuff smells really good. All the Reviews that state this is a sleeper are correct. I never get hung up on whether a frag is a celeb scent because they're not made by the celeb. These are usually made by a better perfume house. This is woody, booze, spicey goodness. It does spray strong and get moderate very quickly. I always put on non scented lotion and for this one I apply 6 sprays and let it dry. Then hit my chest with 2 more. By doing this I get about 6hrs. It's inexpensive goodness. I paid $12.99 on Amazon for 1.7oz. It's not offensive so OVERSPRAY will not knock people over. It's a no brainer blind buy indeed.

What a surprise. I wanted a man's fragrance in my perfume wardrobe. The fragrance I wanted to try was sold out, so I bought this one blind based solely on the inital spray. Not only is it gorgeous and old world, but a celebrity scent as well. Despite my previous rant of the lack of quality of some of the celebrity scents, I was completely bowled over by this. Now I have an evocative male fragrance that I am really proud to wear and a new respect for celebrity scents,what more could a girl want! On further research I see this was probably made in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden and th IFF - an endorsement of its quality

A nice addition to Rocawear, and it is possibly the best one. This fragrance begins a bit boozy with whiskey-like spiced rum (Captain Morgan?!) but I don't get any particular fruit here nor rhubarb. Later it dries down into powdery/incensey woody scent with artificially sweet oriental aspect of tonka bean and amber. I don't think I get any coffee accord either, and it's okay. It's strong enough. I find it quite mature and grown-up but it is also suitable for any age. It's not something I would wear in high school (under 18 should not be wearing boozy scent!!!) but definitely in college and so on.

Initially bought one of these at Ross for $9.99 after seeing the great reviews. Opened it in my car and sprayed it, waited for the dry down & then instantly went back inside to buy 2 more. FREAKIN STEAL! Longevity is about 3-4 hrs and projection reminds me of Armani Code Can confirm it smells very similar to D&G The One and is one of the better "SCENTS" I own. !!Must own cheapie!! Don't think just buy it. All ages.

Smooth and quite balanced. I agree with the positives, but a let down when it comes to longevity. As such, not really worth it. These are my initial impressions. Update: longevity is so-so. Definitely sticks close to the skin after the initial blast and one can catch a whiff after 5-6 hours. But it does smell quite good. Knowing what I know now, I would have skipped this purchase.

I got this for £15 on eBay , then about 6 months later it started getting higher and now going for silly money. I fall in and out of love with it every few months. It smells like CK encounter fell in to a barrel of rum. Very boozy if that floats your boat and getting very rare now.
