Eau de Gingembre

A ginger-neroli dominant concoction similar in construction to the skin scents Jacques Cavallier Belletrud had whipped for Bvlgari a few short years before with different ingredients. I find Neroli, even in the bone dry version made by Goutal, to be uncomfortably feminine but, here, the sharp, fresh, not at all sweet ginger root moves R & G Gingembre squarely in the unisex column. The benzoin in the base keeps this lingering on my skin for a good few hours until, night coming, I'm ready for something punchier. Roger & Gallet discontinued this around 2020 but then wisely brought it back as part of its Heritage collection. They have the nose listed as Morillas but, really, this has Cavallier written all over, and while I respect the first I love the latter. Price has stayed reasonable in 2025; as such this qualifies as an all caps value and a warm weather no brainer.

comparison study for my top 2 fresh ginger(ish) fragrances I have found so far... this is now between Gingember and Vaninger from Oliver & Co. both are good interpretations of fresh ginger, slightly sweet and unisex. differences: Gingembre is leaner and seems to have less sillage and longevity (I get cca 3hrs). There's some soapy lemony undertone that I really enjoy here, probably the neroli, lifts the composition. Vaninger is denser due to vanilla, turmeric and heliotrope. Massive sillage and longevity. It's a bomb. I got lucky and Vaninger was on sale for 30 EUR (about the same as Gingembre RRP), so this was a no brainer back then, especially now that the performance is much better from Vaninger. What happens when I get to the bottom of the bottle? That is a more interesting question tho.

This is my first Roger & Gallet purchase and all I can say is more please! I do see this more as a spring scent but used it this dreary fall day. I showered and after shaving reached for this. The ginger was invigorating. Ideal to assist in facing the doldrums of fall. I sprayed my chest twice, two wrists and then one on the shirt. It seemed too much initially but now 4 hours later I still get ginger off the chest shots (been tucking my nose into my flannel shirt pretty regularly). The wrists seem to be more sweet woody and I have to think my body heat is propelling the ginger... cool I am heated oil scent diffuser! Who knew?!?!

fa caldo ed è tempo di colonie. questa è una rivisitazione dell'acqua di colonia classica che, insieme all'immancabile neroli, mostra un leggerissimo accenno di zenzero. nulla di strutturato o di complesso, ovviamente, ma comunque un gradevole bouquet iperfresco e confortevole. non amo particolarmente l'acqua di colonia: pur essendo un evergreen assai versatile, mi pare anche molto convenzionale. quest'acqua, invece, di buona qualità come tutte le colonie di roger & gallet, è minimalistica e moderna. essendo evanescente e non molto costosa, si può spruzzare generosamente senza temere di spendere una fortuna.

This one is really special to me. I like all the way this fragrance develops and I keep smelling my skin and feeling happy! I enjoy this one so much! Among all the great perfumes that I have, Gingembre will always be my very favourite. It lasts long on my skin, but I have to be very generous in the amount that I use. It reminds me happy moments of my childhood and everu time that I use it, someone will love it and ask me what is that great smell that I am wearing.

Such a beautiful, refreshing and spicy scent. Strong on the ginger from the get-go, neroli and lime in equal measure underneath, musk on the dry-down. It's perfect. I love to wear this in summer, alongside the body lotion from Roger and Gallet. I'm a fan of all their fragrances, but this one stands superior to all. I get compliments while wearing this, and I have to say - it makes me feel really good when I'm wearing it.

Ginger and bergamot straight up to open, very fresh and airy. As the fragrance develops, I get a hint of sweetness that stops this from becoming too sharp. As it lingers a little longer, it becomes more lucid, almost aquatic, hinting toward ozonic. Fleetingly refreshing--could be good layered with lotion or another fragrance to give it some tenacity if needed.

It's been almost 20 years since this scent was created, but it still smells amazing, modern and not generic. Love it. Perfect for a hot summer, light, refreshing in a natural way, energizing, unisex, office-friendly. A good blind buy. Masterpiece from Jaques Cavallier. I'm ordering a bottle that I can share with my husband.

Muito boa fragrancia,uma surpresa.Sempre penso nas fragrancia da marca como muito masculinas ou sem relevancia.Mas a combinação gengibre madeiras finas e musk deram muito certo e até um requinte.Final bem confortavél um delicioso musk lembra couture moschino. Bought 6 Roger & Gallet Fragrances because I thought they were very French, very 'natural' scents, reminded me of L'occitane fragrances. I'm most impressed with this one, warm ginger scent that is not too spicy, balanced with a sweetness that is perfect to cosy up to during winter. Love.

Does anyone know if this was re-formulated when it was re-packaged? *fingers crossed that it was not bc I love the original* I'm not a fan of the new packaging but it just occurred to me that I could decant a new bottle into my old bottle once I've finished it.

Certainly the best perfume with ginger. It combined well with orange blossom. It's very chic, great for any occasion. It's a shame that there is no Edt and Edp versions.

This is such a beauty, and it is a shame it was discontinued! On me it starts as a spicy uplifting fresh ginger that turns in to a longlasting gingery musk.

If you are looking for a fragrance that smells of cleanliness, pure energy and a summer afternoon in a Mediterranean garden, Eau de Gingembre by Roger & Gallet is a timeless classic that deserves space in every "zen" collection. Creation signed by master Jacques Cavallier (the same nose behind masterpieces by Louis Vuitton and Bvlgari). Despite the name, don't expect "food grade" or spicy ginger like sushi. Here ginger is interpreted in its freshest and most floral guise. The mix of bergamot and neroli explodes immediately. It's a burst of sparkling citrus reminiscent of classic colognes, but with a softer touch thanks to the ginger flower. Here the real ginger emerges. It's radiant and slightly soapy. Ambrette seeds add a very sophisticated musky and vegetal nuance, which avoids the "air freshener" effect. The finish is clean and slightly sweet. The benzoin warms the fragrance just enough so that it doesn't evaporate immediately, while the white musk gives that "freshly washed skin" sensation. It is the ideal fragrance for those who love minimalism. It is unisex in the purest sense of the term: it leans neither towards the woody masculine nor towards the sweet feminine. It's just "fresh". It's perfect if you live in warm climates or if you're looking for a scent that is never invasive to those around you. It works divinely when layered with a citrus or woody body cream to increase its persistence.

Tested one spray at the local apothecary while waiting for my turn :) As it is usually the case with R&G fragrances, very natural-smelling and nice, but does not last long on me. I can smell the ginger. In my opinion, it is mosly dried ginger, dry, spicy, almost peppery. A little soapy as well. Interesting, though perfectly linear: what you get at first is what you get at any time during drydown. I think it did not last more than 1h/1h20 on me. On the paper strip it does last still 2 weeks later, so maybe if I hydrated my skin it would last more. If it were cheaper, I would buy it even though it does not last on me, as it is very pleasant for a morning/uncomplicated pick-me-up.

This unisex perfume I blind bought off Amazon.com and like it. On my skin it is a spicy fresh cut ginger with hint of sweet lemon but not a lemon cleaner scent. It lasts about 4 hours in 90 degree heat and is a skin scent with very little projection. I layer this perfume with Bath & Bodyworks Spiced Ginger Bread Swirl body cream which gives me a stronger ginger scent and improves lasting time to almost 6 hours. I leave a scent trail with this combination too. This layering duo put on after a shower keeps me fresh and spicy scented most of the day! Love it!

Nice! This comes as a relief against "diversity at any cost". You know... kind of "nobody ever made a perfume with rotten fish and blood before us". Good to know... now give me perfume. Eau de Gingembre is a very good cologne type of scent made lively with a note of exotic ginger. All quite fresh, quite traditional, no news good news. It stays nice on my skin, no morphing. It has a relief quality. No modern acquatic sugary stickiness. Just your quality cologne plus a touch of India.

Just got it at the drugstore. Not a complex fragrance. You want ginger, you got it. The other notes aren't there to compete with it. As much as I like being surrounded by a cloud of vanilla and patchouli, this will be handy for when I want to keep things fresh and simple. I like it. Edit: I applied it yesterday some time between 8 and 9 pm and woke up today still smelling it, which is a pleasant surprise because I didn't expect longevity from this fragrance.

As with Roger & Gallet generally, this has a certain "rough edge" that niche perfumes usually don't. It's more on the level of splashes like Jean Nate or 4711. It's not bad at all but has a harsher sensibility than some of my favorites. But the prices on these are excellent, which matters, too.
