Thé Fantaisie

I'm a huge fan of Roger & Gallet products and Extrait de Cologne collection was something special. Unfortunetly, it's no longer in production. I went through countless bottles of Néroli and Tubéreuse, but this Thé and Cassis were just a bit too sharp for me. In summer heath they cut through the stickiness with rare efficiency and poise. This Thé is the most persistent tea based perfume I have ever encountered. I enjoy the freshness that reminds of the smell of hot iron. The same can be found in DKNY Women. It's like wearing white shirt that stays pristine all day long. The longevity is impressive. Apparently, there is another Thé, a replacement, in classic cologne concentration, but in my experience it's probably sweeter and diluted version of this one. As usual, shower gel smells even better, addictive little thing. I will enjoy it as long as my bottle lasts. Often it reminds me of Bvlgari's Thé Blanc and Voyage from Hermès. I enjoy my chai masala even more while wearing it. For some reason, not entirely my cup of tea, but truly remarkable, nonetheless. Update...well, it took me years to understand it and now that it's out of production, I regret I didn't took my time to get to know it better sooner. I only bought this bottle because I knew the jig was up. Well, there is still new Feuille de Thé and maybe it's even good.

I don’t know why this reminds me of Valentino Valentina, V&R Flower Bomb, and another perfume I can’t recall. To be clear, I am not saying it’s exact. I am saying it’s of the same family. It’s less sweet than it’s line sister Tubéreuse Hédonie. The middle notes are more prominent and distinct here as well but aren’t in the order listed on Fragrantica. For example the citrus and tea make up the heart, the cardamom appears with the woods as base, the florals including geranium and MAYBE peony and iris and tea come first. It has this citrus peppery woody oriental accord. I like it but wouldn’t personally wear it. It lasts longer than Tubéreuse, I liked the top note better here, but preferred the die down of the other. The base here is banal and mainstream. There’s a sense of familiarity that is maybe reassuring to some and may appeal to many. What it lacks is adventure and unique personality. This isn’t bad though, some prefer it that way. I would definitely get this for my mom and sister who like the aforementioned fragrances. Top: floral Middle: citrus and pepper Base: wood and pepper

This scent is delicious. It's not a milky cup of tea like BPAL's Dorian or a Christmas spicy tea like Serge Lutens 5 O'Clock au Gingembre. Personally I don't get a lot of the fruity top notes on my skin, they're present to the extent it lends some sweetness to the mix. The pine and the coriander are the strongest notes to me in the opening. Next I get the tea and the pink pepper. I love pink pepper and I think it's used really well here. For me the final dry down is woodsy with some remaining traces of that pink pepper. I love tea as a beverage and if someone had asked me to describe what I would want in a tea inspired perfume I don't think I would have gone in this direction, but I love it. It's so delicious it could almost be a gourmand if it weren't for the woodsy notes. The longevity is decent for a cologne, and I definitely think it could be worn by anyone.

A few moments after spraying it over my hand I smelled tea, vetiver and woody notes and thought that it reminded me a lot of Kieh's Vetiver and black tea. After a few minutes it turned into a sweet bubbly lemonade. A bit too sweet to my taste. Then tea notes started appearing through the citrusy sweetness, but it wasn't the initial black tea anymore, rather the green one. At some moments the lemonade took over again, but lost its original sweetness. Finally it settled down as a green tea with lemon, much like Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea. Non-offensive and pleasant.

This is the perfect freshie for the gym! Smells yummy and spicy and refreshing. I have not tried the new reformulated version of this yet but the neroli was a downgrade :( EDIT: This was one of my favourite scents before the reformulation. In classic L'oreal fashion this has become a ghost of its previous version. You dont get any spices and the scent is much more faint, even if the old version was an eau de cologne.
