Ylang

What a nice light perfume, I got it as a gift and it's so perfect : it smells great, does not take itself too seriously, it's fun and super summery... a delicate yummy scent for when you feel unbothered and simply happy :)

The main problem I have with this fragrance is the absence of the exotic notes - ylang & tiare. It is woody-spicy, unisex and very similar to Bois d'Orange. I can feel strong cedar notes, a touch of musk, a bit of vanilla and orange blossom. And that's it. Like Bois d'Orange's twin. I was hoping it would be more airy and exotic with dominant warm flowery notes. Apart from this - the woody-spicy aroma is very good and beautiful, just not exotic in any way, nothing gold there, just brown, pale yellow and orange (if scents can be represented by colors - like they are to me;))

Ylang by Roger and Gallet is a very beautiful fragrance, it makes sense that it was released for summer, because it is a summery perfume indeed. Despite the straight up banana-like opening, almost rotten and powdered, reminiscent of ylang, this perfume dries down into a mixture of coconut, vanilla and some yellow floral in the background. It is sweet but not cloying, which is a plus. It doesn't smell cheap or tacky. Very balanced scent. Lasted for three-four hours.

It's a lovely little thing, with delightful banana-y ylang. Until celeriac came out of nowhere and overpowered everything. Autumn vegetable with exotic flowers? Apparently my skin made it that way. No woody vanilla in sight.

This fragrance really had to grow on me, I don't know what it was with the opening but it just kept throwing me off everytime I smelled it, it was too sharp. Today I tried it on my skin and omg the drydown is beautiful, it turned into a sweet and exotic floral, the tiare flower combined with the vanilla and the musk gave me this warm tropical smell and I liked it. I feel like this would be great for spring or even summer evenings when it's a little bit cold. It's light and non offensive, just an easy grab ! The performance is not great thought I would say it really did not last on my skin at all.

This one was disappointing. I was expecting a flowery beach fragrance, but i got mostly cedar and it didn't mixed well with the ylang. I also think it smells very much like all the other fragrances from the brand. It doesn't have much to it to set it apart or to impress, unfortunately. Sillage and longevity could have been better too.

Why discontinue such a wonderful fragrance ??? Seriously ? It's a subtle scent that smells like nothing else from their collection. They should review their marketing direction: promoting mainstream boring fragrances, and discontinuing Ylang ? No way, I'm done with you Roger&Gallet.
