Derviche II

Gee, let's see what I can recall of it now that Fragrantica finally added this... Anyway, it's nothing like the original. I find the OG to be tobacco-forward, accented with a thick and syrupy sweet vanilla and light florals. It's not my favorite because I'm not a huge tobacco fan. This? Is there even tobacco in here? Sparkling, warm spiced fruits with a sweet amber base. Like a fruity Xerjoff Starlight or non-aquatic Rasasi Hawas. A very festive, Christmassy sort of scent. Excellent performance for me as well, one notch below nuclear. If you don't already own something like Spicebomb Extreme or Burberry London for the holiday season, this is worth a look.

I like this one even though it does play it safe and is more designer style and less niche in that it is super easy to pull off for a large amount of people. It has a nice fruity opening like a Xerjoff Erba Pura but softens to more eastern rose oud musk style fragrance on the dry down. It is striking that I smell rose but there are no florals listed in this fragrance. Just citrus and fruit blended to give that smell. Very masterful. It is much better if you do not over spray and just apply a light touch of no more than 2 or 3 sprays. I am glad I have it in my vast Rogue perfumery collection.

my absolute favorite scent of all time. it's perfect for every occasion, every season, and every mood for me! it lasts all day on my skin, and over 24 hours on my clothes. the fragrance is warm and resonant, with a deeply fruity overtone and a lovely woody scent when it dries down. i can't even put into words how much i love this perfume! i've gone through 3 30ml bottles at this point (the most repurchases of a fragrance i've ever done) and have 2 75ml bottles now. if this scent ever gets discontinued i will be eternally distraught, lol

This is just a beautiful fruity (not sweet), lightly floral, ambery scent. As anything that uses fruits+super ambers, the opening might seem a little too much as some people reported here, however, it dries down to a beautiful scent that balances everything out.

I love this fragrance. It stood out from the sample pack. Hear me out, the closest fragrance that this smells like is LNDL eau de parfum (leather/iris). However, Derviche II is way higher quality. They are not the same, just closely related. Excellent perfumery

Wow. This one is truly more than the sum of its parts. It is an aromatic candy sweet scent, like crunching sugar crystals between your teeth. Like seeing a man so pretty you want to lick the side of his neck. An earthy oud dry down keeps this in balance.

At first spray, it comes off almost like Boss The Scent Absolute to me. Fruity at the top. A softness comes around that is almost powdery and sugary dulls the sharpness. The mid notes become woodier with a slightly resinous ambery note. The dry down is more of the same turning slightly musky. A bit more linear than I am used to from a scent with Rogue on the label. I am a big fan of Rogue Perfumery. This one is good, but a bit disappointing. The bar is so damn high for me on this company that even good can be disappointing. This one seems to lack some of that distinctiveness that comes with other Rogue scents I have tried. I mention Boss The Scent Absolute and I can't do a side-by-side with it, but the fruitiness is similar to what I remember. I sprayed it and immediately thought "I've smelled this before" and it took two wearings to figure out why it was familiar. This is where my disappointment comes in. Every other scent from Rogue that I have tried seemed unique and quite the pleasurable experience, this one just comes off as a "safe-designery" sort of scent, not bad, but not "blow me away" which is what Rogue routinely does. However, this is still a pretty solid scent if you judge it on its own and not against Rogue's library of classic and vintage inspired scents. This is basically Rogue's answer to mass appealing, everyday scent that could be enjoyed by anyone, especially younger people willing to explore higher quality artisanal brands.

Wow! Was really impressed with Derviche II. Opens with a sweet, fruity scent that quickly gives way to very nice smoky incense. The incense here is reserved and balanced, with the lingering fruit, vanilla and musk rounding it out. Didn't get much of a herb-y note. I can't stress enough that it's very balanced and not in your face. Earlier this year, I tested Zaharoff's Signature Extreme which I liked and was planning on buying a FB. After testing Derviche II, I will go with it instead of Signature Extreme. Derviche II is just a much better quality incense fragrance. Longevity was very good - at 10 hours it was still a pretty strong skin scent. Projection was great for the first few hours. A definite winner by Manuel Cross. Note that Derviche and Derviche II are completely different fragrances, not alike in any way.

This was an intriguing experiment by Manny Cross: he wanted to see if he could use the same ingredients as he did for a successful perfume of his (i.e. Derviche) in different concentrations to see if he could thereby create a very different kind of fragrance. And this was absolutely a success: whereas the original Derviche is very much a spicy-tobacco fragrance, Derviche II is lighter on the spices and tobacco at the heart, and heavier on the fruit notes at the opening. The result is a charmingly effervescent and quite versatile citrus fragrance. You can buy both fragrances without fear of any replication.

This is quite nice, however unfortunate for my association of this smell, I was a teen in the 2010’s. And this to me is so reminiscent of the Axe Dark Temptation body spray. To the point that whenever I smell it I think of the weird chocolate man ads of the time. This transports me back to every locker room for gym and sports in the 2010’s. Likely is quite nice and wearable without that association... but for me that’s all I think about.

I think this is a playful and beautiful scent! The sweet fruits are a fun opener, and the amber that follows is warm and inviting. The wood is a bit sharp - a little too strong for me. The sweetness fades quickly leaving a balanced fruity amber. Very nice!

Like a delicious peach dessert. A great night-time gourmand with peach forward and hints of tobacco and oud. Relatively linear progression. Smells natural and high quality. I like it.

Οut of everything I've tried so far from this house, it's probably the only perfume that never won me over. In the opening, it is very reminiscent of a mass appealing men's fragrance with sweet amber citruses like Prada, YSL, BOSS. In the dry down, it gets better, where Oud with vanilla and fruit notes take a clear place, but this generic essence that I feel as if I have smelled it in another 100 perfumes and I can't find which one it resembles because it resembles too many, does not go away from it. Because the bar of expectations has been set high from this perfumer I could never accept this fragrance as his own suggestion, and I would love to be in Manuel Cross's mind and understand what made him feel the confidence to release it! Was it just a distraction to make his other creations look even better???

This is a pleasant scent but pretty soft and not that memorable. I think I’ll pass. I gave this another whirl. It is still too soft for my preference but it is really a nice blend of the vanilla, fruit and woods. If you want subtle scents and like vanilla/gourmand type it is worth a try.

Synthetic fruits and vanilla. Very, very sweet. Gaultier Ultra Male and One Million vibes. Stick an Aaron Terrence Hughes label on it and you could get $350 for it on ebay. It smells a lot like an ATH fragrance. I don't hate it, but it is very sweet, very linear and very synthetic.

Overwhelmingly candied, ambery fruit. Hints of tobacco and oud, but not enough to lend balance. It does get reined in as it dries down, but I would still only maybe recommend this to a younger woman. 5.5/10. The first iteration was far more complex and wearable.

Rogue Perfumery Derviche II smells like an aromatic, sweet candy fragrance. It smells almost as if you have showered not in water but in a sickly sweet and fruity liquid candy, reminiscent of an amusement park in a wonderland for kids who feed on vanilla-fruit pies and "crunching sugar crystals between your teeth." I had to borrow this comment from the reviewer down below me since I think this is a very accurate description. It's too sweet, too sugary, and too feminine for me to wear it. Final score: 3/10

I agree 100% with @alecgutteridge review. Extremely candied and to sweet. Sickly.IMO. I can only seeing this appeal to young teenage girls. In the dry down some of the sweetness is lost but they would just respray to fix that.

I think that somebody preparing my Derviche II sample from the official Rogue Sample Kit made a mistake and filled the bottle with Luna Rossa or some other generic juice by accident. Coherent but incredibly boring.

Personally, I don’t think Derviche ever needed a second version especially one this disappointing! OVERPOWERINGLY SWEET in an unpleasant way with a very synthetic fruity accord. It’s completely linear and smells more like a cheap designer fragrance. Very strange coming from an indie niche house that has given us so many genuinely remarkable and noteworthy creations.

Opening is an intoxicatingly sweet candied fruit, with a gentle rose and jasmine note floating underneath. Has an almost overwhelming projection in the first few hours. The connection to Derviche I almost feels lost at the beginning, but after the first hour or so the sweet florals quiet down and you get a better picture of a lightly incensed wood. Overall very rich and luxurious, while retaining a good amount of class. Might be a gourmand, but it would be the first gourmand I like. It has a quality that’s as sexy and animalic as Derviche I- like a forbidden treat. I get hints of tobacco and other earthier elements but it's mostly sweet. My girlfriend liked this over the original, and I think it does draw you in a bit more, while the original is a little rougher and darker. The dry-down reminds me almost exactly of Soul of My Soul by ELDO, but has a little more fruitiness. Lasts all day on my skin.

Nice but not a purchase for me. Love Manny, guy is a freakin genius in my opinion but this one flat out is hitting me as a light Dior Sauvage Parfum variant... how on earth everyone below is yaddling on about candied fruit and sickly sweet fruit is beyond me because I am getting peppery fruit that's just touched with sweetness but nothing sickly or candied whatsoever. Also getting sandalwood. This is lovely but not a fan because I feel like this one runs too far astray from the Rogue aesthetic and DNA... and not trying to be a muckraker or negative nancy but -- towards the Populace. I get why a young brand and up & comer would do this but I wish Manuel had not. Fans of Johnny Depp Sauce will love this (but will never try it because it's not a blue bottle and Johnny isn't pumping it and let's be honest, marketing dollars).

I agree with many others, it reminds me of YSL La Nuit de L'Homme / but also qualities with Sauvage Elixir but I would have to smell them side by side, my memory may be off. Spices, fruits, incense, rich, heady. I like it. I think it is mainstream and would love to smell on a woman, or would wear it for her if she asked me to. I plan to go heavy with this while at home and see what else I detect. The Venn Diagram between this and Derviche I shows very little overlap. **I think buy the Rogue sample set, it is very generous with 14 different 1.5ml glass vials.

In the air this reminds me of a cheap frag that some of you may be familiar with, First Instinct Extreme from Abercrombie and Fitch. That initial blast gave me some pleasant nostalgia from back when I wore that a lot but overall I wasn't a huge fan. It's MUCH nicer on skin. The opening spray was almost nose-searing to me, but as it settles you get a nice, smoother, darker fragrance with the fruit calming down over the top of the amber and vanilla and oud accord. I like it a lot on skin! As everyone else is saying it's also VERY strong.

Trying from my Rogue sample set picking blindly at random. In a sea of classic inspired scents, this is jarringly juvenile and modern. Smells like something you could find in any department store. Clueless as to why this belongs to this brand. If you have a teenager that thinks they are too cool to wear mainstream brands but has yet to build up a taste for something too far reaching, just fob them off with this.

I had a very different experience with this fragrance than everyone else. I thought I would not like it because I am not a fan of sweet or vanilla heavy scents but I got a very nice blend of fruit, amber and oud. It was very pleasant. light sillage. Good longevity - about 6 hours.

Xerjoff erba Pura vibes, sweet fruity with woods and men's cologne dry down, probably a less unique offering from this underrated house. The cologne smell makes it lean too masculine for me.
