Vetifleur

Powdery musty floral. Lots of jasmine amd later some of that rose and bergamot sharpness. I don't love or hate it.

Unlike my recent experience with Tuberose and Moss from Rogue Perfumery, Vetifleur strikes me as a true unisex fragrance that could appeal to both men and women. Interestingly, it is only found on the Women's page at Rogue's website and not on the Men's page. Vetifleur opens with a strong generic floral scent. By "generic" I mean I wasn't really able to identify all the flowers composing the floral scent. As it dried down, the vetiver & cedar appeared and cut the floral scent somewhat. At this point, Vetifleur wasn't a strong floral, making it lean feminine nor was it a strong woody scent, making it lean masculine. It was clearly in the middle. Given that, I didn't really care for it. Being in the middle, it really didn't make a statement one way or the other, just being average overall. Not FB worthy.

So, as there are two of the same products reviewed here but in different bottles, I’m reviewing the one I purchased from Slickboys, and, with a store name leaning masculine, I was sent the bottle style pictured here that, to me, looks more masculine styled, yes? Unfortunately for me, this one is akin to the following...... When I was a young lad visiting my Grandma in Crosby, Liverpool, I used to roam around her stuffy old house of many rooms and would often come across interesting objects that I would then, curiously, investigate. There was always some oddity popping up somewhere and, in her bathroom was old perfume bottles, some of which had that stem and balloon style atomiser and, more often than not, there was either a left over tiny spritz or the bottle contents had completely dried up but there was always a soft, old whiff of whatever was once contained AND they all seemed to smell the same. Just powdery, soft, incense remnant cloud puffed up my nostrils. This smells like a pungent version of that description. I purchased this because Manwell Cross claimed it to be the one he is most proud of during a Youtube interview. Now, i know he has a tendency to be rather nostalgic and he has definitely succeeded in creating a beautiful scent but, this is advertised as unisex. So, my position is, tell me one man that would enjoy going about his business carrying the aroma of his then 68 year old Grandmothers forgotten and abandoned puff ball scent bottles? Not me! And ive just spent the best part iff £100 for a 50ml privilege to do so! (Tutting emoji face)

This is a double entry. No point for it, just for a different bottle. Admin please delete. That said, the votes for the notes is way more accurate (jasmine is the main player, not vetiver, the usual white floral base he uses in half of his fragrances).
