Ragaa'ouni a'einaik el Ayam illi rahou Your eyes take me back to a time that is now lost A'alamouni andam a'ala El-Madhi wi gerahou In that past are regret and all of its accompanying wounds These are the opening lines of Ahmed Shafik’s Inte Omri (You are my life), immortalised by the soulful croon of the legendary Egyptian singer Umm Kulthūm/Om Kalsoum. This review is going to be an exploratory synesthesia and an ode to Mai Farouk’s rendition of Inte Omri accompanied by the National Arab Orchestra to which I shall I leave you a link in the end. It is quite possibly my favourite take on Inte Omri. Having lived in Kuwait for the majority of my formative years, I grew up listening to everything from Sayed Darwish's compositions, all the way up to modern Arabic pop by Haifa Wehbe. Inte Omri, however, remains my forever favourite and it is through this composition that I shall tell about Roja Dove’s Amber Aoud Absolue Précieux, herein referred to as AAAP. The Tradition: For the gravitas of Umm Kulthūm’s voice is a reminder of the fragrant lore of the Persian Gulf, i.e. primarily the dense Taif Rose + Hindi (Assam) Oud mukhallats (a compound creation of different fragrant oils and tinctures, as opposed to a soliflore attar) of a distant land, and when it transcends to a modern-day creation faithful in execution and wholly reminiscent of its glorious olfactory history, you have the timber and throw of Mai Farouk’s revival of Inte Omri and a perfumed creation of the likes of AAAP. The regular Amber Aoud in supposed Extrait de Parfum concentration was the first Roja I had ever sampled, a story that goes back half a decade, to the start of my journey as a connoisseur, back then it was a beauty, I can’t attest to what has now become of it, but even back then the quasi-attar that it was I found it slightly lacking in density for what it claimed to be. Before I say anything further, mind you, I majorly prefer my perfumes to be quite dense and oppressive, make whatever you will of that. Also, since Roger himself tells us that the inspiration for the entire Aoud line is age-old attars and mukhallats, a natural comparison builds up, this is wherein AAAP comes in and tries to live up to the reputation of its creator. Many a person familiar with attars in general and mukhallats specifically will tell you that the scent profile of AAAP ‘feels like a déjà vu’ and they’ll probably explode when they hear the price of this or maybe not. You see most proper attars and mukhallats are far denser, quite sticky, and devoid of any manner of solvent/medium/alcohol. They are also sold by fractions of a tola, wherein a tola is roughly equal to 11.66 grams. You’d also apply them with a dipstick or in some cases even with a pinhead, that is how little of it you need, with longevity going well onto a day or a bit more on unwashed skin. In a typical Rose + Oud mukhallat there’s a preference for the honeyed, citric (lemony) and tea-like Taif rose, a rather ‘bright and sweet’ rose, like the pink-red of its petals it is quite cheerful, sunny and faintly powdery. It is also quite possibly my least favourite type of rose. The Oud will typically have the nuances of the humid, resinous, fairly faecal smelling (at least in the opening) and decayed woodiness of Hindi (Assam) Oud. There might be an accompanying potli (kitchen sink) of spices, white ambergris (if it is an expensive composition), deer musk and in the odd creation a bit of henna (Lawsonia inermis) even. This sort of mukhallat is a horizontal creation, there’s typically no delineation into top, heart and base notes, there is a very slight evolution though, but it is also meant to be a uniform scent throughout its wear. The Inspiration: All of this when reimagined through the gaze of French perfumery gets you a robust recreation in the guise of AAAP. AAAP decides to open with citruses such as Bergamot and Lemon + Lime, truth be told due to the increased heft of the heart and base, this opening is barely discernable except for a faint tang. Before I go any further, a fair reflection from me would be, do buy this if you must for the construction around the Rose de Mai, do not buy it for the Oud. The heart consists of a centrepiece of Rose de Mai, thick, lush, warm and with a certain sweetness that has depth to it, with a velvety timber in its voice, devoid of shrillness. It evokes a certain enveloping redness that feels syrupy, with very faint and mild facets of orange flowers and grapes. The Grasse Jasmine and Ylang-Ylang are the bridesmaids in this holy union of Rose and Oud, they only seek to complement the Rose and not compete for attention, but it is the Fig, far more prominent here than it is in the original Amber Aoud, a dripping sweet, thick syrupy, ripened fruit, a relentless rake that decides to gatecrash the aforementioned wedding and proceeds to ensnare our beaming bride, the Rose de Mai with a licentious kiss, the kind that makes even the likes of the Eromenos blush. The Oud seems unfazed by this and remains detached from the drama, an important presence but certainly a groom calmer than one ought to be. The Oud decides to instead engage groomsmen White Ambergris, Saffron and Benzoin of the base notes persuasion in merry conversation despite the lechery on display, by now the outfits of the Rose and Fig have come undone and their bodies are in unison, so exceedingly entangled that you know not where one ends and the other begins. I often find that where there exists Oud, Sandalwood rarely shines through except to provide a rounding effect, though the dryness of Birch is a bit prominent by comparison, accompanied by the spicy sweetness of Cinnamon and lastly the Iris, Oakmoss and Patchouli elders who are now quite dubious about the sanctity of this marriage, they only stay for a little while in their own little collective. There is the Musk or rather Civet however which shies in and out, giving the whole composition a golden, very faintly animalic warmth. Of the three Aouds, this is the composition that really is more about the Rose, everything in the composition works to beautify it. It isn’t as if you won’t find the Oud in this, but for those of us whose standards for the complexity in Oud have been set by artisanal brands, this is far milder by comparison. I got myself a tester at a bit lesser than half the retail ask and that is the only price point I can recommend this to you at, it is also now discontinued, so I’d suggest you test it out sufficiently before paying a further premium for this. Projection is fair till the 4-hour mark, it will last you half a day on skin with moderate sillage. This is quite possibly my favourite Roja Dove and it does exactly what I want it to on my skin, it brings the Rose and its associates to the forefront and subdues the Oud with time. But perhaps allowing for this subjugation is what is love, it is painful, yes, but it is still love, no? I was surprised how sweet this is, warm spicy honey on figs. Lasts forever. I love it, definitely suitable for women, don’t let the oud put you off! It just gives an amazing woody depth to a deliciously decadent scent, and stops the sweetness from making it too feminine. Just don’t smell it with your nose right up to your skin, it’s too strong for that (although I love it haha). Truly a love for me. Wish I could afford more than my 7.5ml. Check out my perfume likes and dislikes and reviews (although I’m still working my way through my collection) and it might help you see if you would like this too. I chose this from all the other absolue precieux aouds, but reviews for the others were hard to come by, and nobody really commented how sweet and figgy this scent is, so I was surprised. After the first hour you’re just thinking how does this keep getting even better? But it does. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to figure this out, so I hope it helps others who can’t smell them. In the traditional sense of preferred scent (as much as I ignore it ha), I think these go from this one (amber Aoud) being most feminine, then Musk Aoud, then the Aoud being most traditionally masculine, although all are probably unisex and I wish I could afford to try them! I also bought the ‘masculine’ Enigma pour home cologne as it smells sweet to me (more sugary than honey though), and that was from blind testing the cologne discovery set. So don’t worry too much about masculine or feminine! Edit: Into my 6-7th hour, and it’s dried to a lovely strong sweet, figgy, spicy honey scent. If anything I think it’s now sweeter, and I can maybe smell a bit more Rose now. It’s gorgeous. I know lots of men wear this and why not, but it is a beautifully sweet frag on me, not the sugar sweet new frags you get, but a kind of naturally sweet honey smell. Delicious, really gourmand figs and honey now, still with that depth from the oud, sandalwood and cinnamon. Can’t stop sniffing it.

Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux is a luxurious,profound,intense and deep interpretation of rose-oud-saffron combo with an astonishing touch of exquisite ambergris,powdery orris (orris is the root of the iris flower),earthy patchouli and milky fig and with a wisper of a bit musky and warm spices, benzoin,romantic flowers and woodiness. It has similarities to Emiro by Moresque. This is a masterpiece,there is no question about it. Longevity - 10/10(12+ hours) Silage/Projection - 10/10(heavy projection and silage for the first 3-4 hours) Weather - For more or less any time of year.I personally wouldn't wear this on a really hot summer days. Age - 25+ Compliments - 10/10 Scent - 10/10 Main notes according to me -rose,oud,saffron,ambergris, orris,patchouli,musk,fig,benzoin,ylang,birch,bergamot. The drydown is a bit spicy,musky and woody and I get some -oud,spices,benzoin,patchouli and musk. Emotions -fall in love in a dream,seductive,romance, luxurious,profound,divine. Occasion -perfect for romantic evening,date,intimate nights and nights out. You'll get compliments and LOVE with this one.

Dear god this stuff is absolutely stunning. This is complete wizardry. If there was ever a fragrance I wanted to spiritually inhale, this is it. It is so ethereal and breathtaking. I have never been a huge fan of most ambers and certainly not a fan of oud in the slightest bit, but this takes the cake. It's not linear to my nose like some suggest, but it also isn't the most adventurous of fragrances. It starts off a little powdery-rosey to my nose but then settles into an unexplainable jammy-rose amber. The "jammy" part is just like it sounds...just like a jam you'd spread on toast. It's almost a rather strawberry-like jam that is very well tamed but very well present. It has this smoothness and effortless luxury that is very rarely executed by other houses and fragrances. It is seriously a breath of fresh air and when you smell it surrounding you, you'll want to use every last bit of air you have to gasp it all in. This is the definition of opulence. This is the exact type of fragrance that ruins all other fragrances for you. I almost can't get over how beautiful this is.

a mind blowing and memorable scent. very similar to the aoud extrait but there are some differences. both scents are floral, spicy, woody but the amber aoud opens up with a heavy dose of saffron that lasts for more than 30 minutes, a real saffron accord and not those rubbery synthetic plasticky fake smelling saffrons most scents offer, the aoud has saffron but the dosage is faar faaar less compared to the amber aoud instead the aoud amps up the rose accord much more than the amber aoud in the opening . amber aoud feels sweeter too, like more ambery and slightly fruitier and gets more sweeter too in the drydown. both share the same spicy accords (saffron, nutmeg, cinnamon) and both got the same oud accord abeit the aoud feels more "oudy" than the amber aoud. both has that mind blowing sweet, salty and juicy core built around floral notes, rhubarb and ambergris. overall i slightly prefer the aoud version more because it felt less sweeter and was drier also the aoud performed slightly better on my skin but this is also a state of art scent and bottle worthy even.

I just doused myself in it for a third wear. Gonna see if my dog or partner go insane from the endless chernobyl-style sillage. I think I was hypnotized by the hoopla around this, the name, the presentation and the videos and books Roger circulates with polished ferver. Its not a bad scent, but its quite simple in spite of the usualy RD megamix million ingredient style. I don't regret buying it, but honestly have no idea where or when I would wear this, and its not particularly exciting to wear for myself. There are much more complex, delicious, rarified, exquisite, unusual, suprising fragrances in the world (and in my collection) -- so much so that I have only spritzed this maybe two times in two years. Once when I got it, and once on a whim. Now its in temp controlled storage... indefinitely... :) I do quite enjoy the kind of sour-sweet flavor it has on my skin (and no I'm not actually licking it).

Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux is very close to parfum in the overall smell however its much more intense. This reminds me of when you first spray on the parfum and you get the intense experience that quickly fades the normal Parfum. That intense experience is what I get for the life of this fragrance. It's a beautiful sweet rose oud and ambergris that is very opulent. This also seems to have a bit more of the fig or it is just more prevalent. It's such a great fragrance and well worth the cost IMO. I would skip the parfum actually and get this. I really enjoy layering the parfum and AP.

This one reminds me of Arabian oud woody intense which is a quite strong woody scent. It is really oily and thick with good projection but the price is way too scaring. I would choose Woody intense 7 days a week prior to this one even if they are very similar. The price would be the biggest difference. Scent:9/10 Projection: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10

I ended up with this after sampling the normal concentration. I found that the rose was more subdued which was to my wife's liking and therefore I could wear it more often without risking displeasure. Otherwise it shares a longevity and sillage similar to the other variant.

I am really glad to get this one , oily really oily like dehn aloudh So wear it only on your wrist and little bit on the neck For 30 ml its expensive but if use it the right way it will Last you a very long time (30 ml is like 2.5 tola ). Now the scent is beautiful

Liquid gold. Of all my 100+ niche, this is probably my favorite of all time. Roja is the king and for me, this is the crown jewel of his repertoire. The scent is a 10, performance is a 10. The best unisex rose there is. Not much else to say.

Encompassing, Sensual, Euphoric, This is simply one of the best fragrances that I've ever smelt in my life and it's absurdly powerful. One spray has excellent projection and I can smell it on clothes more than a day later.

I thought I would do a comparison review of Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux (AAAP) and Amber Aoud (AA). They share similarities but to my nose are surprisingly different. AAAP has less citrus in the opening, less aoud, less rose, more fig and other sweet elements. The dry down for AAAP is more linear, sweet, and figgy. Overall, more opulent, and slightly more feminine. AA, I can detect the citrus in the opening, however the aoud/saffron notes are more prominent, the rose is more present, not as sweet, and the drydown is more complex with some of the contrast notes such as birch. AA is more unisex then AAAP, however never becomes overtly masculine. How to decide on which to purchase? I actually believe having both would not be redundant as they are (to my nose) are surprisingly different. However, having both is cost prohibitive as they are both quite expensive. The AA is more smokey/oudy, less figgy, more rosy, not as linear. Saffron and oud are more prominent and the birch in the base is more contrasting in the drydown. If you like more contrast in your fragrances, more oud, then the AA is the way to go. If you like more of that fig note, sweetness, and more opulence then AAAP is the way to go. If gender classification of a fragrance is important to you then I would suggest that AA is more unisex/masculine of the two. I personally enjoy AA more because I enjoy the more contrasting notes versus the pure opulence of AAAP. Final thoughts: both are amazing and provide enjoyable wearing experience. This smells lovely and I would pull the trigger on a full bottle instantly... BUT: The performance is only average at best. It's such a shame. Compared to power houses like Frederic Malle, Roja's creations perform very poorly (which is really shame, as I like them very much).

Oh I tried to hate ROJA perfumes, because they’re so crazy expensive and nothing is worth the prices he charges. But there are a few, actually more than a few that are just so beautiful and so well made that even I had to give in and buy them. But I never pay retail. I know where to buy Niche for 35%-60% off. Always. If you’re smart, patient and know where to buy, u don’t ever need to pay their crazy high prices. I actually prefer the Amber AOUD vs the AAAP, i get more of the beautiful notes with the original. I can definitely see why Amber AOUD is the best seller of ROJA house. It’s absolutely incredible. When a fragrance makes u swoon when u smell it, well then it’s worth buying the biggest bottle u can afford. Or save up. It’s definitely a luxury perfume brand. I started with the 30ml size for $275 but it’s really just a purse size, I needed a full size bottle . I can kick myself for not buying the 100ml bottle for $500 when Max Aroma had their huge ROJA sale. I decided to wait and I waited too long because it all sold out in a few days. When MA has their huge sales, never procrastinate because they do sell out and fast and u will not see that price again. Not for at least a year.

I was was writing a trade or sale of the regular amber aoud and was reading the reviews. Night and day really. People love this soooo much more. Almost no one complains about the absolute. To me personally. THIS IS MY SIGNATURE SCENT. Simply the best most diverse parfum on the planet. It oozes opulence and is sexy af. To me it is not linear as some claim and maybe I once did a well. It's just so good. Disclaimer though. I absolutely, pun intended, looooove everything ambergris and western oud. The combo just does it for me. This is animalic in the best possible way! I don't get how anyone could dislike anything about this. I get it, too each there own. But please tell me, besides the price which I get most people scoff at and cannot afford, is there to complain about. Shoot I even feel that way about the parfum concentration as well. This is waaaayyyy better but I still love that one. I get a wicked amount of compliments wearing this as well. And I'm a 6 3 280 pound gorilla so people don't necessarily like coming up to me, they do when I wear this. If you can try it do, if you don't like it @me

For individuals who are developed and have more in depth knowledge of fragrances as it is a very mature and well developed perfume. It’s extremely rich so just a droplet on a neck pulse point is more than enough.This complexion truly encapsulates ones imagination and takes them on a mystical and sinister experience. It takes one to a near climax point drops and increases in intensity but does it with grandeur and complexity but at the same time giving the wearer their own individual experience but makes a clear statement to yourself and others around you. This one calls for aristocrats and discerning individuals who flourish. Those who appreciate things which are made with love , thought and time.Small message for the females If you find a gentleman wearing this(very very unlikely , maybe near impossible) but if you do just know your in trouble and it’s probably best you run away.

I agree with one review stating it's very linear. But, and this is a big but, it's an amazing lineage(not the right way to use lineage but it worked). This is a top three fragrance for me. It's amber Heaven with an amazing likeable oud underneath. I read one review saying it would take a person understanding niche frags to appreciate,I disagree, I think this is highly likable on all levels. The projection and longevity are barr none, I use 2 sprays on each wrist and one on my shirt(dark shirts though, may stain). This blend is awesome, highly recommend getting your nose on mr. Rojas amber aoud absolute!

Wow wow wow. Did I mention wow. This fragrance is meant for the sophisticated nose that is ready for the highest quality of niche. It’s so expensive but also so good. I bought a partial bottle and had super high expectations. My expectations were exceeded. I love the journey this fragrance takes you through. It starts with a punch of citrus. It then gets darker. It’s hard to pick out notes as it is so well blended. I get compliments with this which is a plus with a y high end sophisticated niche. Did I mention wow? 11/10

I don't think the review under me has the Extrait, the edp even lasts like 3 hours on me, such is not bad for me. And malle, not so much, like 3 hours for the most dense one. Maybe he's sponsored by them. Anyways the Extrait lasts like 6 hours on my skin, and as I said I have horrible skin for longevity, so disregard last review.

Simply put, The best Fragrance ever created in this Universe. So good it’s unreal. Expensive but worth every penny. I own over 80 Niche fragrances, and nothing comes close to this, Scent, Longevity, Projection, are all off the charts, this is what Heaven must smell like. Incredible, addictive, delicious, oh man
