Lily

This is my first review of a Roja perfume. And thanks to Fragrantica swap friend rithacha, I have several that I will be wearing and reviewing in the coming months. There’s no denying the quality notes in this bottle. Absolutely a beautiful, big white floral bouquet. Lily and tiara—a flower that often smells like a cheap Hawaiian cocktail on my skin—is stunning in this composition. One aspect of this scent is it’s versatility; I can imagine dressing it up or down. Would love to wear it to a fancy event, when I’m digging in my garden or making a quick grocery store trip. I can imagine draining this bottle quickly. Roja’s Lily is similar to many others, having facets of Lys Soleia, Songes, Lys 41 and Terracotta, and Shanghai Lily come to mind. But—as you’d expect by the price tag—this is a much more natural interpretation. What suffers is the performance. When a scent is this beautiful and realistic, I usually give some leeway. I’m not one of those people who expects realistic scents to match a synthetic counterpoint scent’s longevity. Still I’m getting an hour or so of light projection, then several more hours as a skin scent, I find the performance acceptable. What’s left is the price tag. This is a Porsche, and truth be told, I drive a Honda. So even though I think it’s absolutely a beautiful scent I won’t be able to acquire a bottle for my collection. Loving this decant though, and if I was ever gifted this Lily, I would wear it often and with abandon.

Admittedly, I've struggled with Roja Dove fragrances. I can appreciate the quality of ingredients but many seem to have been crafted with a kitchen sink approach and I've had trouble finding any I was moved to consider wearing. With one exception. His Lily Extrait. This was a grand fragrance. A grand lily that stayed undiminished even 24hrs later. Very special. 10 years to the day i revisited this fragrance recently. It is v sweet from the vial and once applied, a honeyed natural sweetness (non funky honey) is apparent. It is a true, lovely, humid lily that wears close but is noticeable to any who’s within nearness. Quiet, but unmistakably sensual. Light and pretty enough for day, but it’s humid sensuality may make it even more appropriate for Spring and Summer evenings. Vanilla appears about 1hr 20m in. A fine vanilla but distinct from the sweetness of the flower itself. I was never conscious of any other notes listed, which is more than fine. I love soliflores and enjoyed it as such. Perhaps musk provided support in the drydown, and tiare and jasmine, though I never recognized them, could have done some heavy lifting with their inherent tropical humidity. But nary a hint of lemon, bergamot, carnation, rose, clove or woody notes. Blissful, nonetheless. 9.0/10.

Roja Lily is beautiful. It wears like silk and makes lys soleia a clunky synthetic mess. There's a much better refinement here and blends perfectly with Scandal. I made it my own luxe Oriental Lilly scent by adding Ysl Opium 1977. It's truly a lovely Lily scent.

I agree with the review somewhere below regarding creamy white florals, but I actually do find that lily is the center of this fragrance, and it’s magnificent. If you love byredo’s casablanca lily, this is up your alley!

Beautif gorgeous very elegant! It has a vibe of le Labo Lys41 but the best of t only - the creamy soft aura from the start, no need to wait for a beautiful drydown ... So comfortable and happy this composition is.

Rich warm lilies in full bloom, it reminds me of Tom Ford's Shanghai Lily in which clove is more intense. Roja Dove's Lily is elegant, rich and warm with no green notes. I love it.

I've been sitting on a sample of this from Luckyscent for so long (actually forgot about it – that's when you know you have waaaay too many perfumes) that the fragrance is no longer available there. Has this been discontinued? Not that I'm sure whether I would like a full bottle, but a nice big decant, say 10ml., would be perfect. It is a pretty creamy floral from beginning to end, though it doesn't smell exclusively like lilies to me. More like a mix bouquet of white florals, leaning tropical thanks to the tiare, with a little spice and wood to give body and depth. Though it didn't wow me, I still like it and think it very pretty, just not enough to spring for a fb. The lack of silage really doesn't justify the price. I only got a few hours out of it with just a little better than a skin scent projection, though it did stay like that all day. Still, it is pretty enough where a big decant to use on occasion, if purchased at a reasonable price, might be nice to have. Edit - a reviewer mentioned Guerlain's Terracotta and I definitely can smell the similarities.

Roja Lily is blooming lovely, like standing in a beautiful florist full of spring flowers. It opens with elegant regal lily, delicate jasmine and lemony fresh, leafy green notes that are ever present I also detected a dewy iris, honeysuckle and orange blossom, although those notes aren't listed and its super feminine. I did not notice any tiare though and I did not get any compliments so I think it’s quite subtle silage although I could definitely smell it, (I was enveloped in it all day after only 3 spritzes) and also just smells so naturally floral but everyone seemed to treat me more nicely than usual :/ My mum instantly liked this and she’s super fussy. However she said it smelled like Beverly Hills by Avon :/ I think she meant Giorgio anyway she loves that perfume, so, it was meant as a compliment. The lemony lily and leafy jasmine notes last at least 8hrs + on my skin and fades to a pretty green quince note that reminds me a bit of My Burberry. On clothes it lasts 12hrs + and fades to a clove/lemon scent.

Roja Dove's Lily is so very pretty. Cool, calming, uplifting, happy like gentle kisses. The tiare really adds a clean, gentle tropical aspect... white, not heavy and creamy yellow like frangipani or ylang ylang -- more like buttery gardenia illuminated with soft, airy citrus. I find this aspect of Lily quite reminiscent of Pacifica's Tahitian Gardenia. Perhaps Lily is slightly softer and more complex but not different enough to warrant the expense for me personally. Beautiful all the same, feminine and an easy love for those who appreciate velvety white flowers and tropical vacations.

As a lily lover I was delighted to smell this lily fragance. I totally agree with the review bellow. Labo Lys 41 came to my mind at the first sniff. After the first few minutes it goes from labo 41 to lys mediterrane. It looses that creamy semi sweet le labo touch and turns to a bit harsh and strong soapy scent. It stays definitely between lys 41 and Mediterranean. I like it and I would buy it, maybe not a full bottle considering the high price. Well maybe a small one as the 7.5 ml they sell in the official website.

guest_luna rebel gives a great review. I would add it smells like real white lilies from the farmer's market for the first half hour then develops a strong tropical monoi character, like the strongest monoi you have ever smelled. Almost linear, very strong, lasts forever. I think this gets bad reviews because it just does one thing well. I like it, but I also like Mahora by Guerlain and that one gets dumped on too. This is not as complex or interesting as Mahora, but it smells good for a long time.

Suuuuper similar to Guerlain Terracotta. Tiare, lily, & jasmine, blended. It’s pretty, very much giving me Hawaii vibes. Great for vacation, warm weather, all that jazz.

Hmmm...I know the notes include lily and that zero tuberose is used in this (according to fragrantica's notes) but, to be honest, I don't get a lily soliflore (which obviously I guess it's not supposed to be) and I dont even get an ensemble of different flowers together in a bouquet (with each floral profile separate from the other). Instead I get a whole different set of notes used together as an accord to RECREATE the smell of a tuberose and, unfortunately, a flat one at that... There is no dimension to this, regardless of how many notes this has - itis just blended too well, as I said, to work together, as one big accord, to smell like a really flat, one dimesnional tuberose. I was disappointed. If you really adore the smell of photorealistic lilies (stargazer, etc) try Soliflore Gingerlily by Dame Perfumery - I don't know what gingerlilies smell like but I know this fragrance smells like photorealistic stargazer lilies (THREE DIMENSIONAL) with stamens dusted in pollen. It is beautiful with similar reviews of its hyper-realistic nature.

I am basing this review on a decant I received from DecantX whom I use a lot and has been quite reliable. I was honestly surprised to smell Roja lily because I got a creamy Tuberose/jasmine smell more than I did lilies. No cloves, no ylang ylang, no rose. I almost thought I was smelling Amouage Love Tuberose minus the woody dry down. It’s a nice scent, but a real misnomer, it seems, because I just don’t get lilies the way I get from Fredrick Malles Lys Mediterranee. Anyone else who has both fragrances experience this? It’s fully possibly they accidentally sent me the wrong vial (doubtful becuse they haven’t ever missed in dozens of orders) but there’s no way for me to check.

These eBay sellers that are posting these extracts $16 or 30 bucks for 2ml or 5ml. and they're not really putting the real perfume but fakes beware I bought a full bottle of Lily Roja Dove extract however it was just so Soapie and smell so much like lemons and lilies nothing like the sample I bought from the dealer that was a nice beware get all samples from luckyscent.com my experience which is a true story

I got a sample of this and adored it immediately but it fades SO fast. Very poor sillage and longevity, maybe my skin is just eating it? This would be a no brainer for me if I could smell it for more than an hour, and I'm not usually one who quibbles about price, but for the price point of Roja Dove I expect some staying power.

Scent - jasmine, lime & tiare giving off a wet coconut vibe. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night. Projection - I didn't get noticed, I didn't get a compliment. Longevity - I get 8hrs consistently.

High quality white floral vacation vibes. I get the Tiare for sure plus plenty of nice lily. I think it’s very nice. Projection and performance is nice.

happy and beautiful scent : 9/10 longevity : 9/10 projection : 8/10 quality : 10/10 It’s a lovely fragrance. ( It’s not worth the price )
