Madison Pour Homme

A very well-blended fragrance that I would categorize as an aromatic fougere more than an oriental personally. Starts off fresh and green, with tart citrus, and a watery oakmoss-like note that persists through the fragrance. The drydown becomes powdery with a vetiver and patchouli note that is very noticeable. This reminds me of a 1970's masculine fragrance, powdery, green and slightly sweet. A great blind-buy on my part, and with only 50 bottles this is going to be a collector's item (along with Roja's autograph I received)

Solid release, but a bit redundant if you own a midsummer dream.... However, Madison smells of higher quality, lasts longer and is much more well-rounded.

Roja's interpretation of a scent for a Romanian Oligarch as opposed to the Oligarch in his collection which has a Russian influence. For Madison, think of a large bowl of fresh citrus fruits in the foyer of a post Cold War Bucharest hotel, there is some aging to the interior, although well maintained, a certain odor of dampness together with the lingering effects of high class revelry of yore create the backdrop to this fragrance. Imagine one morning the hotel owner decides to freshen up the air in the establishment, throws open the windows, adds some florals to compliment the smell of bakery spices coming from next door and this is Madison for Men by Roja Dove. Rather than a scent for the night, this one is the scent for the morning after. Sober, fresh relaxed, cleaned up about to enjoy some morning coffee outside in the sunshine. Madison does not care for attention, is standoffish yet appeals through a solid confidence which impressed all around. This is quite a departure for Roja Dove, unabashedly masculine and compelling enough for the 28yr old son of a Romanian Oligarch to sneak a few sprays from his father's bottle before he begins his day. 7.5/10.....there will be some who will give this an easy 10/10....if you like the 70's and early 80's era scents, check this one out for sure.

I wish Roja would make this a permanent member of his collection, although that would be unfair to the people who paid a small fortune to grab one of fifty bottles available for export. I think he needs a fragrance like this in his lineup to show his versatility as a perfumer. I enjoy the subtle differences between a lot of his scents but sometimes they're just too similar in terms of ingredients and the mood that they create. Madison Pour Homme is a pleasant departure from Roja's arsenal of dark, oud based middle-eastern fragrances. It starts off bright and somewhat fresh. The reviewer below me describes the scent perfectly, a tart, citrus, oakmoss fragrance that is slightly spicy, giving off an old skool vibe. Yet It doesn't feel outdated, in fact, I find this creation exciting and mysterious. As a 25 year old I feel comfortable wearing this and love the aura that it surrounds me with. Don't get me wrong, this is not a 'freshie' this still has that signature Roja smoothness to it, however there is a brightness that I haven't encountered in many of his other creations. Update: Now that i've smelled a midsummer dream I can say that these are very similar. Madison is definitely the better of the two, slightly darker and a much smoother composition. Both are excellent.

Hard to describe this one. There's a retro vibe to it, with a barbershop quality. It reminds me of Rive Gauche but a modern interpretation. Opens with a nice citrus, some spice then the following hour is the best part, the cacao and tonka comes through. It settles into a slightly resinous, woody base. Theres a powdery aspect throughout the life of the fragrance but not in the baby powdery way, like Chergui. More like the talc barbers apply after a close cut. I could see this being a daily driver, just not for me...

I expected Madison Pour Homme to be a bit more aromatic. The aromatic and citrus elements are there; however, as the fragrance develops, the cardamom, vanilla, and tonka facets become more prominent. Be warned, this is a powdery fragrance. Lastly, performance is great. For my taste, I still prefer Harrod Parfum Pour Homme exclusive.

Madison Pour Homme conveys elegance, class and masculinity. This fragrance was created exclusively for Madison Perfumery of Romania where they offer anything from luxury perfume, beauty products, fine jewelry to specialty coffee. As many have mentioned, Madison Pour Homme is similar to A Midsummer Dream, but with some minor differences. For some, these differences are a critical deciding factor. Like A Midsummer Dream, the notes that immediately call out to me are grapefruit, elemi, vetiver and Roja's signature oakmoss. Although the note pyramids are almost identical, I find myself more partial to Madison despite the subtle nuance. There is more complexity and depth in comparison. I also enjoy that the vanilla is more identifiable here. While this is a rather unique scent profile, there is a Terre d'Hermès vibe; only smoother and much more powdery. Terre d'Hermès leans heavier on the pepper and vetiver, which is not a terrible thing. It's simply a different vibe. Terre d'Hermès is one of those fragrances that I envy others for wearing well, because I do not. Madison has its own personality, but certainly checks all the same boxes for me.

This is VERY similar to Midsummer Dream. In fact it's basically the same fragrance, but tarted up with extra base notes and a more mature resonance. The opening is that same bright, juicy cardamom and elemi combo, with the rose hopping out center stage. The base is darker and more plush with a brackish pine needle and rooty carrot seed giving a masculine edge, while the sweetness of the vanilla is accented with a hint of cacao powder. I found it quite similar to Noir de Noir at times; it has a luscious air of chocolate-dusted rose petals, but with enough masculine fougre notes to keep it balanced and very elegant. Price-wise, a Midsummer Dream is less expensive and almost identical, so I'd be inclined to prefer it. MSD is less powdery too.

Don't listen to any of the hype. It's all a matter or perspective in a crazy niche world of self congratulation and emperor's new clothes. This in an insipid version of Danger Homme Cologne. I tried Midsummer NIghts Dream and it was truely dreadful. This is 'pleasant' powdery, non descript but with a quality feel. Powdery patchouli rose lavender oakmoss but sotto vocce. A complete waste of time and money. The mediocre Goodman's is even better than this. A much better version of this type is either Danger homme cologne or for much less cash Prada Luna Rossa Carbon. If you think about it it makes sense. You think a masterpiece would be created in limited edition? Mr Dove needs to run a business!

Finally gave this a full wearing yesterday. I can definitely see the comparisons to Midsummer Dream. On my skin, Midsummer is sharper at the beginning but trails off after the first 1-2 hour to more of a skin scent. Madison continues to project pretty well for me even in hour 2-3. After that it does mellow out but it still stays around for the next several hours. The dry down is great as with most other Roja's. Definitely worth adding to the collection if you can find it for a decent price.
