Pierre de Velay No. 9

This is quite an amazing scent and has elements of the Chanel Allure line and Xerjoff Uden and 40 Knots. It opens up like a creamier slightly less citric and more elegant take on Uden but as it dries down it goes in a totally different direction as salty notes (not quite as salty as 40 Knots) emerge along with creamy woods to compliment the floral heart. It is perfectly unisex if not a little masculine leaning and is now my second favourite PdV along with 4 at the top and Essence Rare after that. I have a 15 mL of Uden, a 50 mL of Uden Overdose (ginger and tobacco blossom providing freshness in place of the citruses in the OG) which I use in the summer, but because of the creamier and less citric element of 9 I would say it is more suited for cooler weather than either Uden version. So it is not redundant to own this alongside of Uden. The Allure line is also generally a bit fresher and summery than 9. So if you like the Uden/Allure DNA but want an even classier take on it with saltiness and added musky warmth for cooler weather this is perfect. But I will also add that side by side with Uden it makes the Xerjoff seem scratchy and aggressive, the perfumery in 9 is so refined and elevated.

This has that Xerjoff DNA to it. I saw Uden in the recommended section and I find that very well founded. To me, the opening is way more comparable to Comandante. As it dries, it gets more towards Uden. I've only tried it in a colder environment where you get more of that powdery aspect of the scent. Does a good job of floating around in the air. Roja's longevity to me has always been a letdown, this is just like the rest, might last for around 6 hours. I'd say this is spring and fall, not so much winter. Value proposition is very poor - just get Comandante (100ml) and Uden (50ml) from Xerjoff for the same £495 you'd pay here for a 100ml.

This smells like an ultra modern bathhouse in Japan. Salty, steamy (from the water), woody (from the sauna), and very soapy. The big difference is that the towel you get here to wrap around yourself is made of luxurious cashmere.

what an amazing scent! just got it today and i am wowed! Despite the notes indicated, it is not feminine as i first thought. Hard to describe except it is a masterpiece, super smooth, extremely addictive.

Roja, we both know it’s only a matter of time till I fork over for this one too. Salty citric ambergris oceanside laundry musk. It’s quite good. Surprisingly, improbably addictive.

Pierre de Velay No. 9 takes a fresh approach to an amber scent profile which is pleasant, but I don’t feel succeeds in what it sets out to do. It opens with a prominent lemon and bergamot combination before soon developing an overly-synthetic smelling cashmeran note. The base is comprised of a classic Amber accord - vanilla, benzoin and labdanum, however this is overshadowed by the overdose of cashmeran combined with the citrus and some cedar as well. I don’t feel this fragrance matches the quality and blending of other releases in the PDV line, it smells more like something Paco Rabanne or Hugo Boss would release. It unfortunately comes across very cheap and forgettable.

I’m surprised that Uncle has this sort of scent amongst an exclusive collection like PdV.... As other have mentioned: Pdv9 is reminiscent of that iconic chanel allure / uden DNA aka citrus + vanilla + amber. It has a very designer like quality Enjoyable wear but quite forgettable In saying that, I do like it, I’ll be retaining my bottle since I got it for cheap It is a fun wear... hopefully the complexities will open up as I make my way through the bottle but I have my doubts....

Lies in the same ballpark as of other citrus vanilla scents. Very close to Uden and even i would say has a bit of Allure homme vibe to it but much more stronger and closer to Uden. If you like that kind of DNA this could work for you, unfortunately for me this will be a pass, didn't find it anything special.

This smells like a tangy floral scent, very tangy. I really like its dry down, which smells wholesomely smoky- it comes down from the tangy floral into smoke and its mad chill.

Floral Freshie ! With a heart of salted vanilla pretty cool

This is very nice. Reminds me of Uden a bit.
