RSX: Misk

Wearing this at an artisan event today, and someone told me I smell good. She told me I walked past and she smelled my perfume. When I first sprayed it on this morning I could smell the incense and slight smokiness. I only sprayed my neck but it was enough for the scent to project, maybe because it's 28 Celsius. I wasn't expecting to like it because I usually wear perfumes that smell rosy or floral, and usually I dislike patchouli. But I will be wearing this again to see how my relationship with it develops.

i haven't smelled this in a couple months so here's my opinion from what i remember (and the reason why it's been so long since i gave it a whiff) honestly this would smell so good if not for (what i imagine to be) the melted wax accord. i don't get melted wax, i do get burnt plastic. i got the 3ml samples which came in black plastic, and with every one of the samples i got from them i had felt like that black plastic smell had somehow seeped into each sample. almost amazing, but where it falls short just kind of ruined it for me.

Though I've never been to the Dead Sea, as someone who grew up by the ocean, Misk feels very familiar to me. The wax and salt notes are incredibly nostalgic, reminding me of washing salt crystals off of our little boat after an afternoon the Atlantic. The sandalwood is a great anchor, creating a balance I've never smelled before yet know very well. The scents inspired by Jordan are some of my favorites from Rook, as it's obvious Nadeem crafts them with such love and care.

Incense, waxy, animalic. Witchy, but cool. You-can’t-sit-with-us vibes. Very Parisian goth-y. I imagine a Rick Owens show smelling like this.
