Smoke and Mirrors

It is a really good fragrance with amazing depth, although quite linear. It can easily be called a Middle Eastern monster. I don't know why oud is not listed when it is one of the major ingredients. Strong, distilled but still present rose oud - so popular on the Arabian Peninsula. I also feel a slight osmanthus. And now I don't know why the onset of the fragrance is extremely smoky, is it oud or myrrh? However, the smoke disappears quite quickly, it remains like a memory, somewhere gently caressing the base. Either way, it is not a typical Western culture smell. Parfumerie Generale PG03 has sulfuric notes in its ingredients - sounds weird? but in PG03 it works perfectly. I have the impression that in S&M this note also appears, adding temperament and a twist. It is crystalline, chemical in the natural sense. The smell is clearly influenced by the Persian Gulf countries, but it is a dry fragrance, not a sweet one, no icing, and that is a great advantage. I love it and bask in the delight of the fairy tales of a thousand and one nights.

I smell oud in this one, the kind I don’t really like, suffocating and flat. I dunno where it comes from but it’s kinda stinky.

Opens with a thick smoke, and a hint cedar. In time, the Osmanthus comes through to dandify things. Thematically similar to T-Rex, perhaps not quite as good but not far off. And this represents better value. I really like it; think Rupert Everett’s Sherlock Holmes—he’d smell like this. 9/10

Tester. First is smoke, which is gone very quickly. And then something in between of waxiness of calendula flower and crashed flowers of tagetes. My husband said that it smells like pipe tobacco in not very pleasant way. It is very interesting in theory but I don't think I can wear it.

This is EPIC!!! Such a wonderful scent! Don’t know what the person below is smelling, However, It’s nothing like what they are describing!! This pure smoke and Amber with a lovely balance of honey and some Oud! BRILLIANT!!!
