Venetian Grove

Apparently this perfume was inspired by a garden Queen Elizabeth the first had planted at Windsor Castle. A bouquet of Rose leaf, Currant, Plum, Clove and Oranges based on a recipe from an old apothecary book from the 1800's. The bottle is gorgeous, in fact the whole package is gorgeous and I love the old fashioned atomiser. The parfum is very strong and all I get at first is an overwhelming aroma of orange blossom and to me this is quite a masculine scent. My husband tried it and said that in the opening notes he could smell Roses too. A couple of hours later, I can smell a garden of Roses, Orange blossoms, the sweetness of Plum but no cloves or currants. It's almost reminds me of an old fashioned homemade cordial on a hot summers day. Wears very close to the skin and is absolutely beautiful, I can't stop sniffing my skin. I close my eyes and feel like I am walking through a Rose garden washed clean by a spring shower, the lightness of the rose leaf green amongst the Orange Blossoms. I purchased this with the Body Lotion and I like to moisturise first, spray a little perfume on my wrists and neck and then moisturise again. Lasts all day, totally inoffensive and garners many compliments. It is spring here right now and the scent is ideal, I am looking forward to Winter to see if any of spiciness of the clove appears.

Venetian Grove mystifies me and my nose. I read the notes here on Fragrantica and decided a scent with an Italian fruit accord sounded nice for this time of year. So I ordered a mini bottle from Amazon. Not what I expected. I first got citrus, more lemony than orange. I do get a little orange blossom, but mainly citrus. Relentless citrus, although it's not bad, just more citrus than I was expecting. I waited patiently for the dry down, hoping there would be plum, black current, rose and clove. I can't smell any of them. Not even clove! I should be able to smell clove. That's an easy note to detect. I'm beginning to think that I've gotten a mislabeled bottle of Lemoncello. No matter whether Venetian Grove or Lemoncello, it's a fresh and perky fragrance and I will wear it proudly! Actually, after about 20 minutes of wear it turns into straight orange blossom. I do like orange blossom so once again I will say I find this scent most wearable!

This fragrance seems to be a mutant and different to every nose. On me, it is totally aquatic. It is sweet but with this odd, watery, salty note almost like watermelon in an ocean. Since I am not a fan of aquatics, I am not digging this on first wearing.

Someone famous that is one of my VIP clientele wears this. She's a beautiful fashion icon and very nice, soft spoken lady.
