Abyss Rose

The opening to me smelled like Gaultiers Scandal Gold which is honey and a rosy oud. Not cough syrup as another mentioned, just sweet and concentrated. Dry down was underwhelming. Not bad, just nothing special imo. It looses a lot of sweetness and intensity very rapidly and ultimately it becomes a powdery soft rosy oud with some sort of gentle aquatic/marine element. I can see it working for many people. Simple and pleasing. A bit unisex leaning and a bit more “adult” of a scent profile. Does remind me a bit still of Scandal Gold, just less “scandalous.”

Salum in Latin means sea, and this brand represents a journey between the different types of sea. I know well that each place leaves a memory, our sensations are bounded to smells, and thus interpreting a natural element such as the sea is pure poetry for me. It's in my blood and I know it well, very well, knowing how changeable it can be. The scents in this case are pungent, spicy, starring a newly bloomed rose, mysterious and disturbing, with a slightly balsamic effect. And here I see the sea in its purifying aspects: breathing everything in deeply and being invigorated, comforted and drawing strength from it. The depth, the abyss, so dark but also so intimate. And sometimes, you sink into it, but you always emerge, and this wonderful rose is the symbol of it.
