Le Roy Soleil Extreme for Men

***Update 11/4/25*** So, Im happy to report that the performance has certainly improved since I first sprayed this awesome little "Hidden Gem" of a scent! Now, it still wears somewhat close to the skin, but has excellent lingering power. It starts off sorta Fruity, powdery and semi-sweet. As it transitions heading into the mid (and it TRANSITIONS) maybe 20 to 30 minutes later, it becimes quite smokey and I truley thought that there was Leather in the Base/Middle, but it must be the Hatian Vetiver giving it that smokey nuance! Admittedly, when ya first spray it on it smells sort "Generic", but Le Roy Soliel Extreme most definately comes into its own becoming a very Masculine, Gentlemanly and even elegant fragrance. Again, this is NOT projection monster, but I definately pick up whiffs throughout my entire 8hr work shift and it smells so so good! One of my very best "Cheapie" blind-buy pic ups to date and an 8.5 outta 10 within that catergory! Thanks for taking time to.read my thoughts on this AWESOME little fragrance! CHEERS! ----------------------------------------------------- ***Initial review *** So I just got my bottle of Le Roy Soliel Extreme today, and sadly it seems that its been neutered bc Im NOT getting the same experience as most folks here are getting. Its actually very faint even after over-spraying, buuuut Im really just hoping that after introducing some air into the bottle it'll change in time. I had tbis happen with many fragrances in my collection so I have high hopes here. What I do mangae to pick up on is a slight powdery-ness in the opening, some pineapple and as it dries down I get a bit of smokiness for a pleasant, unique experience (and NO, not at all ike Aventus) I get no "Mossy note" and after spraying quite a bit on my shirt, the scent lasted about 5 hours and only about 2 hours on skin and projection was very subtle. Again, I hope it's a maceration issue which I find happens a lot with some of the classic, "inexpensive" fragrance as it seems that these frags are no longer put through the maceration process these days so as to save on Time and Money. The bottle only costed me about $26 so It wont be a huge loss if nothing changes, but itll still be a bumber! As of right now, VERY dissapointing, sadly. Fingers Crossed for some improvement over -time. Ill be back to report😉

Amid a time when nothing seems more so innovative, no new release seems to meet our expectations and perfume lovers begin to look for fragrances more elaborate (and expensive) of exclusive collections, niches, etc, there's still hope hidden in the midst of the immense range of options and brands of the market. Here is a proof of what I just said. This cologne was released in 2012, as a most imposing version of the original, launched more than a decade ago, called Le Roy Soleil Homme, from 1998. The inspiration from the bottles of the entire Le Roy Soleil line (not just this one) was Louis XIV, one of the monarchs involved in major French battles, known as the “King Sun”. The story goes that Salvador Dali was a fan of his style of life, represented by the personal taste for luxury goods and art, in addition to his power and strength. This fascination made Dali paint the work "Le Roy Soleil", in 1945. The fragrance is amazing! Brings output notes of lemon, bergamot and pineapple leaves, followed by cardamom, lavender and Green Apple in the heart, and finalized by musk, moss, vetiver from Haiti and amber, at its base. The manufacturer does not mention the presence of leather, although this note appears in the place of the moss, in several virtual pages. This is a slightly oriental fougère, in the same style of the famous Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier, but with its own surprises. It has a powerful and intense output, with vivid nuances of bergamot and something that I never thought were related to the pineapple. Typically, even its leaves have fruity nuances. On my skin, the output was dense, making me think of woody nuances, such as Guaiac or Cashmere. Quickly, the cardamom arises and the heart of the fragrance works brilliantly. You can notice lavender and Green Apple, both evenly. So, the moss and the amber enclose the journey of the "King Sun", as a warm and sensual afternoon ending. Don't expect to find traces of vetiver, in order to not be disappointed. The projection and the lasting are great. In the first test I did, it was still possible to feel the fragrance on my wrists, softly, after 12 hours. I recommend!

I had the original Le Roy 20 years ago, and i only discovered this flanker recently, although it came out 12 years ago. i ordered it because it was cheap and i wanted to see how the original citrus frag has been “extremised” ... and to my surprise, i was blown away. The fresh citrusy characteristics of the og are here , and they can be detected on first whiff, but there’s that moss base note , that gives it a kick which turn it into a very unique fragrance, it is almost feels kinda smoky, but fresh. It’s great for spring or fall time for work or a date the performance is pretty decent it last about 5 hours on the skin , but if you spray it on the clothes, it still there the day after. 8.5/10

This scent sounds like choral by Rameau - La Nuit. Very elegant on my skin: not fresh but citrusy, not overpowering but mossy, not harsh (like Azzaro PH) but distinctively bitter and masculine. Most importantly NOT FREAKING SWEET (don't mix up not being sweet with being harsh (like Bogart Bogart or Azzaro PH for instance)! I almost died after 3 application of Avant Garde on my skin - however suitable tobacco was but terrible cloying sweetness... I mean I like Lacoste PH or even can agree on Ferragamo Attimo (both are quite sweet) but overall sweetness is just to be found in EVERY perfume. Come on!

I am happy to have rediscovered this unique juice! What makes it so special to me is the fact that throughout my fragrance journey I haven't stumbled upon anything similar to it. Not sure if the smell itself or the fact that the house behind it is Salvador Dali makes me think that the fragrance is perfectly suited for those people who are artists or who are just creative. Salvador Dali is an underrated house IMO. So far without LRSE I have only tried Laguna Homme which is also a beautiful fragrance, however I am looking forward into checking out other perfumes the house has to offer:)

Possibly the best men's fragrance from this house! Opens up with this strange, hard to describe, sweet, dusty and earthy smell that I find very addictive. I think Le Roy Soleil Extreme is a fragrance that best suits an artist who spends most time in his art workshop. Got myself a 5ml miniature but I'm planning on buying a 100ml bottle in the near future. Gotta give this one a solid 9 out of 10.

Dont really understand those who are bashing this fragrance. Its a decent fougere/fresh/manly scents with a terrific performance in terms of sillage, projection and longevity. It has enough bite to get noticed, yet its done intelligently so its not offending anyone. Citruses mix well with the pineapple leaves and the moss. Much less synthetic then its original form. Nice job!

Reminds me strongly of the original aromatics from Colors for men by Benetton. Not quite as much vanilla here, but instead amber and white musk. Also the lavender and oakmoss play a prominent role with a cardamom and lemon zing. The scent took a few minutes to get itself together upon initial application... At that point it reminded me a bit of the vintage Canoe by Dana.

Very nice manly sophisticated composition! Its for the grown up but never dated. Great character! Projection and sillage are very good. Reminded me of the original Versace Blue Jeans. For those who are afraid of the green apple, relax, it doesnt come through very much here. A very tasteful scent indeed, bravo!

OMG, I'm in heaven...For a longgggg time digging Niches, most of them were totally crab for the price tag. This one drag me back to designer fragrances. Wait a minute, I'm not gonna use any other designers besides Le Roy Soleil Extreme NO MORE! Clean, Fresh, delicated and long lasting. 1o/10

This fragrance is absolutely DELICIOUS! It is a beautiful composition and does not smell oldish at all. On the contrary it is manly, sexy and modern. The lemon and the lavender make a superb combination. I will be wearing it very often.

Mmm I just love this. Got a mini of this in a set I bought which features 3 women's fragrances and 2 men's. Now all I have to do is find a man to wear this for me... Sigh. Very sexy fragrance.

Nice plesant scent with nice performances. Made with measure. Oweral: Because of scent like this "I don't care at all" for Creed Aventus... Just like Bob Geldof 🙂

I love this scent, it's very calming to me, great for cold nights at home. No projection? No problem, this is just for me

The cardamom and oak moss are so powerful here. Very mature scent. Stays for 10 hours on me. Loving it!

Just a few minutes in first test: this seems recognizable, but it's pleasant isn't it? Citrusy burst + something sweeter and a tiny bit spicy (guessing the "pineapple leaf" accord & cardamom), over a more traditionally masculine/barbershop/dusty background (maybe oakmoss + vetiver). Since I've only tried a few fragrances with a lot of oakmoss + citrus + vetiver, I thought it reminded me of O de Lancome. Dabbed some O on my other hand - they're quite different. O isn't nearly as sweet, has clearly bitter tones, soapy like soap in your mouth. At the same time this citruses in O are much more natural and juicy. LRSE keeps getting sweeter, there's a generically juicy sweet note, pineapple if you say so. Kinda fresh - a liiiittle bit aquatic-melony too. Edit: ok, an American spicy bubblegum accord. Big Red? Still not unpleasant. Not candy - enough of whatever herbal, dusty accord is at the very bottom of this.

A surprisingly solid composition, there is a mouth-watering quality to the lemon and lavender that open this scent, it is sort of reminding me of the way GT's 'Lavender Love' Kombucha tastes (which I am crazy about). After several minutes, this gives way to a modern 2010s fruitiness that isn't overbearing as can often be the case; it rather steers it in a space that is well-mannered, if not a bit stilted. Still enjoyable, no less. Thankfully, a dusky, dusty oakmoss gives it character and volume. This one is pleasant, I will reach for it when I need to keep it safe. Definitely the polar opposite of the other Dali I have, the infamous Salvador Dali Pour Homme.

Lavender and lemon duo opening without being sharp at all. Floral undertones yet retains masculinity. Drydown is pleasant with the faint pineapple note that grabs your attention and retains it with the smooth vetiver/amber/moss combo. Not cloying, this is a safe scent. For the price, the fragrance is well blended. Bottle is beautifully done but the atomizer could be better. Slightly better than average longevity and sillage. I'd recommend this for casual wearing in warmer weather. Not an attention getter, but it's well worth the buy regardless!

Gorgeous bottle,but the juice is a little lacking. Having been a big fan of original Le Roy Soleil,this was a disapointment.Fragrance is pleasant,but nothing special.Fades very quickly. If you are looking for a "smokey",seductive fragrance then try Decibel by Azzaro. This is a serious waste of money!

funny how this is almost identical to dior dune pour homme (for the 1/4 of the price). it even lacks the longevity exactly as dune, which is not that funny. anyway, a good one for spring. 7/10

Definitely unique, earthy and sandalwood but with a fresh touch. Seriously male. 👌

Have tried this several times in different weather conditions and temperatures, sadly it just doesn’t perform. I Purchased several samples for trial and this one doesn’t make the cut. Smells nice enough, but just nothing new or outstanding - fairly run of the mill.

Outdated smell For 60+years Is a pass for me

I read all the reviews for this fragrance and was hooked. I was looking for an inexpensive scent to add to my day wear collection that would not be the same as everyone else is using. What a disappointment. The scent is inoffensive so that is a plus at least but it is very light and vague. It smells like a stack of old books that have been carried by someone wearing aftershave. The silage is pretty much non-existent and it is very much a skin scent. I asked my two boys if they could smell it on my wrist two hours after application from 6 inches away and they said they could not. I can smell it directly on the skin after three hours (at the time of writing). I guess if I would have to suggest who this EDT would suit it would be for someone who likes to use EDT after a morning shower and then just gets on with his day without people really noticing how he smells but being aware that he smells well groomed.

I didn't have high hopes for this one, but it's actually very pleasant. If I was just starting out and wanted a very pleasant affordable fougere, this would be a fine choice. For about $33 shipped on a 100ml bottle, you can't go wrong. It does feel like it has "mainstream fragrance DNA"... at the start. But there's a dusty kind of "patchouli" quality without patchouli added. It has fair to moderate projection and lasts about average. Honestly, in the first 15 mins or so I felt this was more of a "beginner" fragrance, but into the dry down, it becomes a bit more interesting. Lavender, oakmoss, vetiver, pineapple, cardamom, bergamot, musk... what's not to like? Fragrance: 7.5, Value: 8.5

2023-03-21 I'm quite late reviewing this one because everything from the Salvador Dali line, except for Pour Homme, had been disappointments. This one, I'm also ambivalent towards. It's a synthetic mix of oils that I really cannot pick out save for lavender and something that smells like vetiver. It's a very subtle fragrance (not something you'd associate with the name Dali) but long-lasting. Spray it on fabric and you're gold. I can still smell it on my shirt after 36 hours. I agree with the other fumeheads, it does remind me of Encre Noire a lot.

I'd say this is a very safe everyday fragrance for office, travel, visiting the never-happy mother-in-law. Nice low-key citrus opening (note: nothing like a real citrus, Armani Pour Homme etc...) then a woody, spicy, powdery dry down. Kinda smells like a bunch of old fashion magazines from the 80s/90s stacked up and found in a box in the attic. To me, nothing exciting, rather boring, most def nothing extreme about this. The sad faced sun on the bottle says it all...stay away from this one if you want a feel-good fragrance...

After blind buying i discovered this smells just like the newer Gillette Series 'foaming shave gel'. I don't use their aftershaves/depdorants/body washes but i bet this also smells similar. Fresh modern barbershoppy. Good juice to sport after a haircut and/or shave.. Wasn't too fond at first but after a full wearing, it's nice. Even bought a couple extra bottles. You can't beat the quality for price here, like most from the Dali house. Last 8+ hours on my skin. 8.5/10

I totally agree with Descartes what an utterly crappy fragrance. Reading some of the reviews makes me think there must be a parallel fragrance universe, a fragrance Matrix. Avoid this one there is nothing in there, it does not deserves the Dali name pedigree in there.

I like the citrusy opening but the drydown is too vetiverish for me. A grownup scent, very powerful. Latches on to the skin so a wash with soap won't remove it completely. Glad I got the 10ml version, not going to use it in the near 10 years.

Now discontinued and unavailable everywhere. A real pity, because it's a classy fragrance which gets many compliments without being too loud.

When and where for this scent? Anyone know? Really anxious to try this one
