La Commedia

Parfumes are often associated with color, there are white, green, blue, yellow, dark perfume... Some are purple, but really, ive never found a perfume that could easily associate with red color (unless you consider rose perfumes are red)... But now I do, La Commedia is the first perfume whereas when I sniff it the first time, the first color that popped in my mind is red. This perfume feels warm like a balm, without the heat though, it's spicy, like chilli-spicy, and a bit medicinal, like i am in a chinese herb store, in a good way though. It's really different kind of perfume. Good performance, silage and longevity.

I associate the smell of this fragrance with its color, too. Beautiful warm orange opening and a sensual spiced woody dry down. Just enough sweetness. The orange/warm spices sets it apart. I don't have anything that smells like this in my collection.

These Ferregamo fragrances are so good. This, Terra Rossa, and Arte Orfa are absolute no brainers for a blind buy. You won't get better quality for the price.

I liked La Commedia enough in test wear to buy a full bottle, on deep discount. I'm a fan of cinnamon scents, and although this doesn't have a listed cinnamon note, it doesn't take much imagination to recognize that red chili pepper, nutmeg, cardamom, and citrus would combine to manifest a cinnamon-like accord. La Commedia is lighter than most Spicy Woody Orientals, and I suspect unlisted aldehydes in the composition. The test blotter I first sprayed it on smelled very aldehydic in the far, far drydown the next day. It isn't much like EL Cinnabar, despite opinions in other reviews. In fact, I would tentatively say that La Commedia is closer to a cross between two Serge Lutens: La Couche du Diable and Rousse, despite not coming across as natural.

The red chili pepper is so strong especially at the opening, it mellows with time, but still quite noticeable. at the drydown is where I do love the scent (semi sweet that I quite enjoy so much), but I am not enjoying the first stage that much, as it is quite pungent and nose burning to me. Update 1 : After trying it more, I do think that Iam loving the opening now. Update 2 : After trying it more, I find it to be so sweet to my taste, so it becomes only a like (not a love) for me.
