Salvatore Ferragamo Subtil Pour Homme

This one really grew on me! I get a juicy vibe from the orange, it's very versatile (even works in hot weather). With my first 1/4 bottle I thought that it was really weak in projection as others have said, but after that I get solid projection with 7-8 sprays, and longevity is good (8 hrs). I don't know if I wasn't staying enough before or if I'm just crazy, but now I consistently get good projection. It isn't super unique but I find it different enough that it doesn't remind me of any other frag in specific. If you are looking for an elegant, office friendly, versatile, aquatic-like (without being an actual aquatic) fragrance for around $20 for 100ml I would definitely recommend giving this a try.

Bought this when it came out several years ago. One of the very few perfumes I’ve managed to go through a whole bottle and bought another one. Seriously good stuff. I wore this fragrance EVERYWHERE. To dates, clubs, work, etc. this was my go to. This is perfect for warm weather but I wore it in every weather. The performance was ok. The sillage wasn’t monster. It lasts for a few hours. But the scent is a winner. Blind buy? Well... for the price, it’s definitely a safe bet. Not sure if they still make it though. Try this out. I’m sure you’ll love it.

I don't get the hate on this, especially since no two haters have the same complaint. Too much violet, or dirty ginger, or sweaty vibes? I don't get any of that. Jacques Polge was the perfumer for this one, and the esteemed Varanis Ridari says that this was the precursor to Polge's Bleu De Chanel a short time later. Also has more than a passing similarity to Versace Pour Homme. Yes, it fades after five hours, but that is what blue/freshies do. This is one of my all-time favorite summer fragrances, and it is cheap as chips.

Really nice clean smelling fragrance with a blue powdery, citrusy vibe that sticks around through most of its life. Limited projection but decent longevity. Great if you want to smell extra fresh out of the shower, or if you want something for the gym/ office, or casual events, this one is nice and is very inoffensive . Also a very cool bottle and a low price so can't go wrong with this one.

Subtil is nice and fresh with that same backbone of the original. This is also a bit greener and more pleasant with some orange in there. The dry down after a couple of hours smells really good. This also smells close to the Acqua Essenziale line from SF. I give this a 8.5/10 Edit: This makes me think of lemon lime or citrus soda. It's good but doesn't last long so keep spraying!

A must have in my book. Lasts a very long time. Although I always use lotion before I spray. Fresh at first, and mild afterwards but very pleasant. Always get compliments with this one. I use CK One skin moisturizer with it or coo water after shave. They both give a good mix.

This is a beautiful one. Definitely not common. It has good similarity with the nettle note of "Dunhill Black". and also some unique spicy notes of the original SF Pour homme (the transparent bottle) and its fig note. Unique, enjoyable and beautiful.

My husband owns it. Drydown is gorgeous! This perfume starts to blossom in 3-4 hrs after an initial application. Sexy and appealing. One of those which make the woman close her eyes and dream about something pleasant.

I really enjoy this cologne. The perfect blend of fresh-cleanliness and fun-playfulness. Great bottle.

Ok, I went and did what someone said here in the reviews... I just sprayed lavishly all over without hesitation up and down like if it was a body spray... and added 2 spritzes of declaration on the back of my ears, and when I got to work immediately got noticed by my coworker next to me, I asked her which one was the one she actually smelled because I could smell more the two declaration spritzes than the "subtil" by ferragamo, but she said it was the ferragamo the one she smelled. So I guess, it really gets notice if you do this, I mean just spray it lavishly and will get complements, I got a couple more after hers during the day, and my overall opinion, this is a gentle cologne that won't offend anyone and I think it would perform differently in a very hot summer day, I will need to try that and make an update on this review. Today it was very springy cool day, so I'm sure it would be different in a hot weather. Well after all no complains, I don't know if I would by it again, but will certainly will keep it until I use it all. Update: I am wearing in a hot summer day, but I do not feel to much difference on it's performance. I will continue spraying it up and down when I get to wear it... ;-)

An inoffensive and generic fragrance. Subtil has bright orange citrus, spicy pepper, and cardamom as its dominant notes, so while it's definitely pleasant, there's no wow factor to it. Projection is only fair, and it doesn't last more than four hours or so on my skin, so it's best worn as a casual daytime fragrance when you'll only be out for a couple of hours. Its biggest advantage is that it's very affordable and you get a lot of juice for your money. Also, for what it's worth, the bottle design reminds me of the twisting glass and steel of luxury resorts in Vegas; it's modern, classy, and looks great on the shelf. Subtil is good if you want a low-key scent that won't overwhelm anyone, but keep in mind that there are a lot of very similar fragrances that do what this does.

Whilst the pyramid suggests some dominant components, the initial note is oranges and spices that are really well blended. As it dries down I get a hint of aquatic – this fragrance smells modern and light. Longevity appears pretty good and sillage is 'polite' and not intrusive. Strangely, I can't easily name another cologne that it reminds me of – that has to be a pretty good thing! I can see why Salvatore Ferragamo fragrances don't get the headlines that the industry giants do – their scents aren't as 'loud' and 'in your face' as the best sellers. If you like subtle and tasteful then this could be for you. The bottle is worth a mention for its distinctive irregular shape. It is a thing of beauty to hold in your hand.

It's a great fragrance, Fresh, Crisp and Clean. One of the best Salvatore Ferragamo men's perfumes. It opens up with like fresh citrusy , slightly spicy and floral notes in the background then dry down is green musky. It smells like the breeze of Amalfi Coast in the morning. This is suitable for the spring and summer. The art of bottle design is very wonderful. I really enjoy it and I like Subtil Pour Homme EDT for Men by Salvatore Ferragamo. Longevity is average. Thumbs Up. Rating : 8 / 10

Nice really light and refreshing it's a up close and personal scent I don't know how good the longevity is but I do know it smells great I smelled this at perfumania several times and I like it but I haven't bought it yet for some reason maybe cause it's so light it may fade away in a couple hours but overall its a nice summer scent my girl thinks it smells great 8 out of 10 that's just from the scent not performance

This was a recent blind buy for $25. Hmm, where to begin. I’m honestly pretty pleased, it’s soft and spicy. Good for day-to-day wear and I think it works year-round, just adjust your sprays. The only negative for me is that it’s not a projection monster, but you don’t want every fragrance to be “loud” and this fits the bill for when you just want to smell good and not overthink too much. 4/5 for me!

Smells good, but you can only really smell a mix of floral notes along with ginger. It only lasts one hour at most, and the smell completely disappears. I can only see this being sprayed for the summer in the day. I would not pay full price for this fragrance, find it for a discounted price and I can see this as a way to freshen up, but don't expect it to last long.

without its serious performance issues, subtil pour homme can be easily considered as one of the best summer scents. great mix of floral, spicies and acquatic notes, the fragrance shines during the summer. performance is really poor. so sad. grazie! my vote: 7 in one word: holidays

I own a bottle that I purchased in 2009; it's really a nice, citrusy, soft fragrance, but I stopped using it 2 years ago, as this is like a suit-and-tie juice (IMO), and I currently wear casual clothes to work. Anyway, I don't know, but I think this is not for me.

Fresh and clean with a really nice opening. Dry down is on the sour bitter musky side. Performance is really really bad. Use it out of the shower.

I love the "Marine" fragances, Subtil is not a scandalous aroma, instead is very light

I picked this one up from the cheapie end cap at my local Shoppers. I love the smell, It's very aquatic and you can definitely pick up the mandarine and ginger notes in the opening. After that it becomes a mix of aromas of sweat and synthetic body wash. I know it's hard to explain but that's what my nose catches on. You can use this as an after shower, or stay at home fragrance if you're working from home or have some guests over. It's just a clean smell, nothing memorable. Projection is non-existent in this one. Not recommended for dates or special occasions, but just as daily beater. I would not buy again. Paid CAD $21 for a 50ml (1.7 Oz) bottle, to replace my almost gone The Secret (Antonio Banderas).

It smells pretty nice. I love the top notes. It's very linear. It is also an instant skin scent. I sprayed this on 46 times once because I was getting zero performance out of it and the person standing next to me couldn't even tell I was wearing perfume. It layers well with drier woody perfumes but otherwise it is a total waste of money now, even at $19. Save the money and buy anything other blue.

Had it for myself and tried to love it, was actually the one that got me looking into more perfumes so I could get something else and get rid of this, not a bad smell but very bland, easy to wear at the office but very boring and one dimensional, got tired of it really after an hour wearing it, wishing I could smell of something else, gave the bottle away to a coworker looking for a fragance.

This cologne is very average, so my review will mirror that. Fresh "I just got out the shower and used whatever cheap body wash was on sale last month" scent. Got for $20, throw it on now and then when I just want to smell "good" 5/10

Decent citrusy out the shower fragrance with a pretty solid presentation. Nice pickup under 50$.

I had a sample of this which I used last summer and I was pleasantly surprised. A few months later I ordered it and when I put it on I got very disappointed, so I did not use it again for some time, until a few days ago. Let me tell you I live in Greece and now it's quite hot here. So when I put it on again, I remembered excactly what I had liked a year ago. It is a nice summer citrus perfume, good for daily use, e.g. at work, which lasts on me for at least six hours with moderate sillage. It's not probably the best perfume of the world, but it's a decent one!

It does smell like diluted alchol and to that I'd also add the smell of oranges going bad. But I don't think that it's a bad smell contrary to most of the opinions here. It's a good everyday smell that will work well at casual gatherings. It's sublte as the name suggests and lasts all day on me. the scent evolves slowly into a very musky drydown. it's not a great smell but it's not bad either.

The violet is what I think kills it for me. Not pleasant imo and with that being said it could probably be cloying more than refreshing. Definitely a summer type fragrance. Slightly cheap synthetic smelling. Perfect for highscool or college.

If you searching for Italian brand's fragrances You better go for Bvlgary. (Quality, longevity, silage, bottle design, concept) -Much ,much better value for your cash! IMHO

The "ginger" in this smells really dirty -- like an unpleasant earthy smell unlike the bright, crisp gingers in other fragrances. Not worth picking up IMO.

The fruit notes here are almost realistic. The opening reminds me of something Acqua di Parma might do, such as Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi or Arancia di Capri. It’s in that vein, although ADP's fragrances are generally even more natural and realistic. This is a nice fragrance, nothing particularly special, but not plain either. I can understand why some fragrance snobs dislike it. To them, a $400 fragrance is automatically good, even if it smells like s..t. Anyhow, this one may seem redundant at first, but at the same time, it doesn't? If it makes any sense. This is one of the few fragrancees I've encountered that smells quite different depending on how you experience it. Straight from the sprayer, it smells a bit bitter, there is a not there i can't pin-point, at least to me. However, once it's on skin, it suddenly becomes sweeter, and the mandarin comes forward, hinding some ohter note/s behind it, might be the ginger. As it dries down, depending on the temperature, it can go in different directions. It either becomes more marine and aquatic, bringing that scent from the bottle sprayer back to the forefront, or it stays sweet until it fades, with musk and patchouli appearing near the end. This is definitely not as linear or plain as some people claim. I'd describe it as more two-dimensional than fully linear. Anyway, it isn't for everyone, and it certainly isn't groundbreaking. You might like it, love it, or feel completely indifferent to it. As for me, I like it, but I don't love it. For summer fragrances, nothing has beaten Prada L'Homme L'Eau and Bvlgari Aqva so far. Not even the much-praised Bvlgari Tygar. Longevity: It projects well for about an hour, then retreats closer to the skin. However, if you spray it on clothes, the projection lasts noticeably longer. And for those who claim they can't smell it after applying 45 sprays: you probably need a break from fragrances. A fragrance isn't meant to choke everyone around you. Stop overspraying and overwhelming the people around you, and you might start noticing fragrances properly again.

This was a recent blind buy after many years of seeing it at discounters. I finally pulled the trigger and it’s a great scent.. but unfortunately for me not a total winner. This to my nose is exactly if Z Zegna and Lacoste L12.12 Blanc had a baby, and as the father of redundant purchases I have both which makes this yet another, redundant purchase. On the up side if Zegna is too sharp, and Lacoste is too heavy, I have this guy. There’s citrus and florals from the opening until the dry down, and it stays fairly linear. I detect an almost leather accord, but it’s very “subtil” and it probably comes from the amber and patchouli. Almost earthy while staying very round and fresh. The florals make it a definite spring summer juice, and keeps it pretty open, not as heavy as Lacoste Blanc can be. The dry down is very nice, even though it doesn't evolve too much. I prefer the later stages to the opening I think. Like many others have said the longevity is ok to sub par and projection is worse. Then again it is called Subtil. It’s not meant for high heat imo, more a spring scent, or hot summers indoors. It’s almost got a feminine touch to it also, which is nice since it’s good to have some “gentler” scents on your shelves for certain occasions. Stetson is a classic, but I wouldn’t use a rake to wash my car. This is semi sweet, light and uplifting, clean (not soapy) slightly warm citrus scent. Ages are college and up, day to night and all occasions. For the younger crowd I could even see this being a “dressy” scent (summer date or night life), and for the 30’s and up I can see this being a great casual/work/date scent. Nothing too formal though. I was recently at a wedding (early August 2020) and it was hot out, but this might have worked since most guys were jacketless. I went with Ferrari Noble Fig (great scent imo). Besides the not so groundbreaking DNA.. great juice.

A curious one this Subtil....a big fan of SF pour homme and decided to add this one to my wardrobe as well...I thought it would be a reasonable addition living here in So. Florida where the heat and humidity can become unbearable....Certainly didn't break the bank, $17 for the 'tester version' so I don't feel I'm at a loss. Opens very harsh with the cardamom and doesn't simmer down for about a good 2 or 3 hours...then I detect the orange and pepper...not bad but nothing more..very linear and doesn't develop into anything other than the cardamom/orange. I didn't find longevity to be a real problem (and I have scent-eating skin). I've had this on since 10 this morning and it finally disappeared (not even a skin scent) around 7PM....can't complain...Verdict? Nice, hot weather fragrance, nothing overly special, great for the office...that's about it. Reconsidered my purchase....not what I expected. Pleasant enough after trying for several days but it lasted no more than 1 hour on my skin with subsequent uses...and even with a few sprays on my shirt itself, it faded in very quick order...VERY different from the first day I tried this scent. Packaged it up and sent it to my 9 year old grandson...he'll love it!

I bought a 100 mL bottle of the EdT a few years ago while in college. It's amazing how much tastes can change in a few years. I am trying to use the bottle up and move on, so I figured I would give this juice a review before I run out. It opens with a light juicy citrus which to me has little staying power, it is closely followed by a crisp and bright ginger. The top ginger transitions nicely into the coriander from the heart which is, to me, the only thing I really smell in the heart. I think I find a faint smell of violet in there as well but I might be painting bullseyes around bullet holes. There's a hint of patchouli and musk in the base but the scent fades fast. The top notes last about 5-10 minutes on my skin, followed by about a 30 minute heart accord and the scent is completely gone within an hour to 90 minutes. I am not really a fan of this class of scents but for a fresh crisp scent this is pretty good. The longevity is very poor and the sillage is quite mild.

My take on this is double-edged. On the one hand, it is probably not something most frag-addicts would love. Not a barn-burning, highly original scent. Doesn't have great projection. Personally, if I wanted orange and spice, I'd probably go with something from Hermes. On the other hand, it is nice. Nothing bad about the scent itself. It'd probably be a fine summer scent gift. I would bet that for a certain percentage of people it could work really, really well on their skin and be a real favorite. In other words, it probably is worth taking a test of it and seeing if it works well for you.

The name isn't lying, it is as subtle as it goes! If you spray whole ton of it, so you can actually smell it - it will smell nice. But even then, it still will stay lingering not more than inches away from your skin even right after you spray it. When it comes to scent itself, if it is original in anything, it would be only in fact that it is absolutely impossible to overdo it. Spay entire bottle at once on yourself... nobody will get offended, and very few will even notice anything. First Salvatore Ferragamo perfume that I would be avoiding to buy again.

Contrary to what some have said , I actually really enjoy this masculine fragrance which reminds me of oranges, violet, and spice. Yes; as its name suggests it is not an overwhelming fragrance which is actually a plus in my book. Think clean, refreshing ... When first applied the fragrance isnt the best, which is why i think some of the negative reviews were written. Drydown is where its at with this fragrance. Longevity is only OK, i wouldnt say its bad though either, also considering its supposed to be subdued anyway.

Oh my God! This is literally the best perfume I've ever purchased. Ginger... Water... and Violets. My aunt said that it was literally a scent for "Gods", and it was extremely and many bottles that are being sold are already old. I asked for a new bottle. You guys (people who reviewed) probably got an old one. Extremely long lasting and fills an entire room! The water smells fabulous. This lasted on my skin for 12 hours, but idk about you guys. It's extremely good. Recommended for parties and proms!

Easily the best blind purchase I've ever made -- has a fresh sea scent unlike anything I've smelled before, even though the notes say nothing about water (lotus?). Similar concept to Cool Water in that it's aquatic and light, yet obviously masculine; quite subtle (duh) but you can find it cheap so it's well worth it.

Subtil is classy, fresh, and as the name suggests, subtle. This is a lovely, fresh spicy. It has an effervescent and aquatic quality that great for summer. It’s not a beast mode projection scent. Sometimes you want something more quiet and Subtil nicely fills that spot.

This is one of the best scents ever made. However, it only lasts for 2hrs tops. I wish Ferragamo would revisit this again but add more fixative to give it at least 6hrs. Too bad it fades fast, it is a great smelling cologne.

Completely unoriginal and begging for acceptance from men who are happily confined within traditional gender based fragrance boundaries. Spices? Aquatics? Citrus? Big freaking deal. NEXT!

So light i once heard a colleague used at least 35 spirts of this head to toe before a night out. I could barely detect it in the elevator! He goes through a bottle each year.

It is NOT pleasant for me. There is something ... m-m-m-m... disturbing in it. I think it is Artemisia-like componenta. Why should I smell like artemisia ? I dont like it.

Fresh beautiful scent that is not too heavy, but lingers in the air. Is subtil enough that it is not overwhelming. Very pleasant!
