Muschio (Musc)

I don't love it immediately. It needs half an hour to settle, in my opinion. But it quickly becomes a delicate, clean musk with a hint of powder, feminine and beautiful, gentle,and soft. Somewhere within it is a base of something warm and comforting, like my skin but better (the musk, I suppose?) that reminds me of the scent of a hot cotton towel straight from the dryer. I did not expect to like this. Yes, I do enjoy fabric softener and laundry smells . . . but I've only been marginally impressed with any of the other clean musks, or laundry-scent dupes for that matter. SMN Muschio/Musk is different, more all around. As a skin scent, longevity is awesome. It is very much there the next day, very close to the skin, almost as if it really is just "me, but better." As such, it is subtle, easy to wear. If you want to own the room, this is not your scent of the day. This one you keep more to yourself, I think (though I am not 100% certain as I'm testing a sample vial, rather than multiple sprays). This is full bottle worthy to me.

Like some other musk perfumes, the initial scent isn't amazing (very powdery, almost chemical-y)- the magic comes after it has sat on your skin for a little bit. Then it develops into something very clean, cozy and intimate. There is a sweetness to it that is hard to describe- I had been wearing it for a little bit when my boyfriend smelled it and asked if I was wearing chocolate perfume. Someone else described it as a "creaminess" and I fully agree. There is a sort of vanilla note to it. My only gripe is that is does not last long at all on me- even so, it seems like I have to press my wrist into my face to smell it. It's such a shame, because the scent is beautiful. I think this would be a good scent to layer, given how mild it is.

I recently acquired Muschio at Aedes in Manhattan, I wanted a musk that was between Egyptian and animalic and this is it. It’s dry and serious, similar to Musc Nomade but with even more frown. It’s neither bitter nor powdery. It smells like a cat that’s been rolling around in the dirt and now it’s giving itself a bath. This is extremely long lasting but doesn’t project too much. It’s a personal scent that is extremely versatile. I have a lot of musks, my favorites are the ones that disappear and appear again when the body temperature rises or when it’s humid outside. Muschio is not it, it’s a constant companion until its dry down makes it faint. The epitome of a cool cat.

This is so lovely, so clean, so neat, so innocent. Associations that run to my mind are just pure joy and happiness. This is a light and happy scent, and very unisex. Men can pull it off easily with this one. It adds class and gentleness, sophistication and a slight mysteriousness. Yes, as said before, very powdery, very warm and light. Musc is the name and musc it is, so no games here with your olfactory sensations. It is crisp, but unobtrusive. The scent lasts a bit and gets you nicely through most occasions that last for about 4-6 hours. It is not an allrounder. It invites more to a family visit on Sundays, friends, any formal occasion or even a party with class.

This is an unusually delicious musk. In fact I don't think I have ever found musk to be edible before Muschio. At times I can't tell whether I am smelling white musk or white chocolate with steamed milk! There is a vanillic creaminess that is really cozy and sweet. This is conjuring the same images of snow banks that I think of when I would wear Malle's L'Eau d'Hiver. What Muschio has going for it is that the sillage is much better than L'Eau d'Hiver. If you don't mind not having that little bit of green in Malle's perfume, Muschio is a worthy substitute. I don't mind!

I ordered a sample of this because I love Mugler Over the Musk which is sadly discontinued. Wow. It really reminds me of Over the Musk but without the pepper! I love that slightly sweet, cozy and soft musk. It smells like someone who naturally smells so good that you want to sit by them. This is my favorite kind of musk. I'm literally buying a bottle on their website in my other browser window. A+

I just bought another bottle of this for my birthday. This is a delicious sweet musk. As gourmand as I can imagine a musk can get. It has a bit of an incensey smell at first and settles into a sweet, powdery vanilla musk. Not very animalic. Smells like what a marshmallow should smell like to me.

My Holy Grail Musk. This is really soft, fluffy and powder-sweet. I am impressed with the longevity considering its lightness. If you are after a sexy, dirty, animalistic Musk, don’t buy this.

Starts off powder vanilla, but really shines after 30 minutes or so; very creamy, sweet musk

This is an interesting bird. First it starts off with a juniper smell. The smell of fresh juniper which kind of throws you off because you're thinking I thought this was supposed to be a musk fragrance. Then as it develops it becomes a little bit spicy. You get touches of star anise, black pepper, cloves, then after that dissipates the musk emerges. It is a sweet creamy slightly powdery musk with touches of vanilla. And animalic touches as well. Kind of like the little baby of Music Tonkin. I will have to test this on my mom. I bought several samples and she is crazy for musk. I like this a lot for not being those new Glossier you type of musk. It has character and movement. While still being gentle. This is musk done right, which is the old way. New musk fragrances are boring linear and just straight up ugly. Unisex. A gentle old school your skin but better fragrance.

A really beautiful musk, too bad it lasts few minutes an then it disappears, making this fragrance a very expensive cologne. It's a feature of all SMN fragrances.

Smells like powdery vanilla on my skin.

It's alright. It opens a bit anise-y and incense-y. Then quickly dries down to a gentle sweet musk. After a couple of hours it's hard to detect it much on my skin. Boring to my nose.

SMN Muschio is a powdery light musk, but the musk can become animalic in the later drydown.

"But this smells like sweet baby powder on a dirty butthole" Absolutely true! 😂😩 I'm really disappointed in this blind buy since I was hoping that this one would be good dupe for Over The Musk by Mulger. It's nothing like Over the Musk IMO

Toffee sweet with some white musk. Somehow unpleasant.

Look. There comes a time where we have to be honest with ourselves in life. I’m not an expert, connoisseur, professional... what have you. I’m just some girl who collects stuff that smells good to me. I don’t use flowery language in my reviews and am often short and to the point. I have no perfumery background nor do I claim to know anything about notes/accords and how they work together in a blend. But this smells like sweet baby powder on a dirty butthole.

Muschio on my skin is not as simple as one might think by the listed notes. At first I get a sweet musk with an underlying nuttiness and I am pretty sure I can smell some vanilla,too.It's very beautiful and comforting. After a while it smells earthy on me which I think must be the patch note. I do not like this second phase as much as the first,but the scent is not so loud in the second phase so I am not annoyed by it. It's quite a unique,true musk scent which doesn't resemble those that are sold in drugstores. I definitely recommend sampling on skin first.

Santa Maria Novella's Muschio is the most expensive shampoo I've ever bought, and I love it. I use it when I need a little extra to wash away the day. It's gorgeous as shampoo, and I would love to try the cologne. It's comforting in the way that something that looks delicate can also be sturdy. I was shocked when I found out it was a musk, but I get it. It's like the umami of fragrance--something that's just satisfying in a way you can't quite define.

Santa Maria Novella - Muschio Simple powdery musc scent. Some times i got lavender behind it but just for few moments. I think it behaves just like a cologne but too simple and almost not detectable - longevity was poor on my skin. Dry is the best part of it as we can feel a warm musc that brings some confort. Just good. PASS

I’m a big fan of musk and I’m a big fan of powdery notes, but I’m not a fan of this perfume. I rarely leave negative reviews because they aren’t especially helpful. But I have to agree with those who said this is baby wipes/baby diaper with a funky animalistic note. I had to scrub it off.

This sits very well on my skin, and lasts a very long time (which I see is not everyone’s experience). Then again, I generally do well with powdery fragrances, both in terms of longevity and development on the skin. I find it a pleasant daytime fragrance, soft and easy to wear.

Fantastic straightforward vintage musk that leans animalic in the best way. Reminds me of the drydown of labdanum from le labo, or Shalimar of course. That being said it’s and incredibly weak fragrance with not much longevity unfortunately (at least on my skin)
