Violetta

Bought this on holiday in Florence, love love love how they have mixed the violet with vanilla, it's sweet but not sickly. The longevity is really not brilliant, but I bought the soap as well, so that I can use them together for a fragrance boost!

One of the first SMN I ever tried. A sweet candied violet with green leaves. No powder. One of the best violet scents I own.

My favourite. The best violet perfume I have ever smelled, worn or owned.

This is not so easy to get hold of but one I craved as a violet lover in its many forms. I like this more than Devon violets as it is less heavy and dated but perhaps not so much as Venetian Violet Water or the more hidden violet in Bal D'Afrique. Bal D'Afrique may not satisfy a specific craving for violets though if you are in that mood. SMN Violetta has a soft Parma violet scent with some fresh greenery and a beautifully blended, barely discernible vanilla. It's important to note that this is soapy all the way, rather than creamy; it is very similar to Crabtree & Evelyn's discontinued Venetian Violet Water, which I also have, but I prefer the latter somewhat as it is bright, fresh delicate perfection, whereas the SMN version, though still lovely, is very slightly cloying at times due to the strong soapy note. The bottle is beautiful and it was dispatched quickly from SML in Italy, after some issues most likely caused by the language barrier, and I am glad I have this in my collection. However, I prefer the unsweetened and less soapy version of this that Venetian Violet Water provides.

It smells like you just took a shower..it's a natural clean scent rather than a perfume. I don't tend to use this that much, but only on some occasions. I like to use this when I want to smell clean like after a workout or if you're unable to take a shower. Starts fresh with bitter leaf, but the pungent leaf scent fades out. It's dewy, clean, uplifting, and very soapy. I can imagine this scent on a baby, but also on adult. It does not last long at all. Sillage is very poor and it's a scent that only you could smell. The lasting scent on skin and on clothing/fabric is different. On skin, it smells more like soap while on clothing, it smells more like a powder. . I was disappointed with the whole brand after this purchase. The cap was malfunctioning(I see many people have the same issue). It was halfway open when I first got it, so I had to return and get a new one. The cap is very low quality, like a cheap aluminum. It has many scratches on it as well. The sprayer cap also has the same issue and is worse quality, being so thin that it made dents.

when i got my nose on this the thought crossed my mind: "do i....do i not hate violet anymore?". i dunno, maybe my perception of this sweet, clean, yet evocative little flower is shifting. that's an exciting prospect. someone below mentioned a shower scent. i have a category in my mind of fragrances i love straight out of the shower, rather than any other context. bathrobe luxury, wet hair, warmed damp skin. violetta certainly falls into that camp for me. i think of how violet was once a common bathwater infusion. I'm certainly coming to understand it better.

Violetta - I have both, the alcohol version, which is very fresh and the oil, which is super intensive. I've never smelled a better and true violet fragrance than this. Very nostalgic yet classic.

This is a very soapy, clean and powdery classic Violet. Some candied violet sweet nuance, but ultimalty soapy all the way into the drydown. Happy to have been able to test, but its a no for me.
