Time Traveller

Time Traveller was released in 2015 and has already been reformulated. The initial fragrances of Sapientiae were reformulated shortly after its launch, not by market imposition or lack of raw material, but in a voluntary way that started from the perfumer and creator himself. According to official information, Time Traveller has notes of roasted coffee, black pepper, thyme and nutmeg in the output. Then, in the body of the fragrance were combined notes of sandalwood, Palo Santo wood, jasmine and geranium, on a base that features notes of amber, tobacco, vetiver, oak moss, incense and Black Agar. But before commenting on the result, let me remind you about some technical observations: Palo Santo wood (Bulnesia Sarmientoi), already used in other fragrances of this house, is also known as Guaiac wood in perfumery. It is part of the genus Guaiacum and its essential oil is called Guaiac. And the Black Agar, which is also present in other creations, is a base that reproduces the smell of darker agarwood, also known as True Agar. This base features nuances of olibanum (frankincense) and amber, resulting in a smoky-woody scent. Time Traveller is an example of necessary makeover, which results in a completely different perfume. The original version is sweeter, floral and has a greater nuance of tobacco. Although is not bad, the fragrance is linear and a bit nauseating. The current version is quite different, has gained its own personality and has become an aromatic and spicy fragrance. When touching the skin, the output is very peculiar and the thyme wins gold medal, followed by the pepper, with silver medal. Those who like spicy fragrances will love Time Traveller immediately. It is dry, spicy, camphorated, herbal, aromatic...all together and mixed. Then, it walks to a greener and mossy aspect in which, truth be told, nothing else makes sense near the oak moss. It's almost a fougère! I can even feel the vetiver and the tobacco, but the oak moss is a true star. However, in my opinion, Time Traveller has some bad points. First of all, I expected to feel more coffee. I know the coffee note will not bring me that smell of coffee being prepared, but it could have been better explored. It is a great differential of the composition, but it was not present, at least on my skin. The Black Agar also disappeared, as if it was not there. It is a normally expensive ingredient that did not stand out. To finish, it is worth to say that the projection is very good, but the lasting was not as high as that of Graal or Vanille Noir, which I feel even after twelve hours of use. That is, for a Parfum Extrait, it behaved more like an Eau de Parfum. But as I said before, it is an awesome aromatic and pleases everyone, especially men.

A soft fragrance, not common, which will not please everyone, or at least most of the senses of living beings, perhaps because it is from the niche segment and presents a very different proposal from what is possible to be found in the commercial environment, with more ease. I like the sweaty opening of Time Traveller, yes, Pepper + Nutmeg combined gives sweat with a fine perfume on top, olfactorily, but nothing that compromises the absurd way of being beautiful of the fragrance, as soon after a citrus content breaks this sensation making it more restrained, usable. In the middle it becomes sensual with a touch of mature sandalwood and an air of white flowers that evokes a sense of peace of mind amid a whirlwind of indecipherable sensations. I like the Palo Santo in it, it is resinous, well built and refers to the rituals of those we see in Colombia, in its Alps. In the end, an oriental background prevails and a "what" of incense is characterized between bitter, herbal, dry, aromatic and medicinal notes. Its aroma comes and goes, nothing invasive, but always firm on the skin and occasionally arousing the curiosity of those who approach it. It is possible to feel it after many hours after its application, when we don't even wait anymore! Plus point for the fragrance!
