Lace

A stunning scent from one of my favourite Perfumers. It definitely conjures up an image of a tropical seaside. I'm sure the ambroxan creates that feeling. Lots of coconut but quite floral. The sillage enormous which I suspect is from the colone, Hedione and ambroxan. They are very evident. Perhaps a bit too much. It curiously swings back and forth between floral, musky and then almost gourmand. There is sweetness alright and it reminds me of my Grans favourite English confectionary. Soft coconut teacakes. Fascinating stuff. This one is for night wear only for me. I'm testing this in a cold room and it's still swirling all around me! Good sillage and longevity. For goodness sake don't do more than a couple of sprays of this otherwise you might knock people out. Especially if in a lift!

This scent smells delicious on my skin. I love smelling myself when I'm wearing this and probably look strange to onlookers at how often I'm putting my arm up to get a sniff. It lasts all day long. A sexy sophisticated intriguing vanilla is in the forefront and plays well with all the other notes in this. Just a touch of sweet, not overkill sweet. Smells delicious, romantic and seductive. This one was a blind buy for me. I had purchased Sarah Baker's discovery set and noticed Lace was not one of the samples, after reading about it I just had to have it. I'm glad that I did.

Lace is my favorite perfume of all time. It has become my signature scent. You would not believe how many comments I get. Multiple times I have had people lean into the air behind me as I pass, inhaling deeply. I've even had people joke that they want to huff this scent. There is something about it that particularly speaks to people. My husband is so into this that he sort of swoons when he first smells it on me. I adore this perfume!

Lace is not dry or -on the other end of things- goopy. The coconut makes a smooth liquidy texture without contributing much to the smell. It has a double layer of alternating fragrances. Sometimes the white flowers come through strong, but then it switches to the more musky, animalic scents.

Smells like a jasmine coconut cookie. 🍪

Sarah McCartney has the ability to whip synthetic materials into natural smelling blends, and she demonstrates her remarkable skills in Lace. I’m a fan of her gourmand style, so it’s no surprise I like what she created for Sarah Baker. After the first 10 minutes, this morphs into a beautiful summer vanilla with a dominant coconut. Jasmine is much stronger in the dry down. It’s fluffy like whipped butter and very easy to wear. What’s remarkable is that I get more than 6 hours of projection in Seattle summer heat (about 80* weather). This is between a like and a love for me.

Sometimes, I wonder how people can't smell things. Yes, in the top this is coconut and vanilla but VERY quickly it becomes aquatic and is all about ambergris. Salty and aquatic. Those two molecules should be way up on the list. In the base, it is lightly floral.

I would love to give this a supportive review, as it is very interesting, has its own personality, and really has longevity. However, despite being kind of compelling, I'll say it was a sample I was glad I could try and nothing more. Jasmine is a risk for me often, and I think the combo of this with the synthetic aroma chemicals sent me for a loop. Throughout the whole wearing I found that this remained a really sharp, heavy floral, and when the coconut is added to that, I found it borderline sickening. But I don't disagree with others that it seems very classy. It just is the wrong category for me. I am still very enthusiastic about the other Sarah Baker scents--I'm just starting my discovery set adventure.

Tried a sample and nearly knocked my wife out with it. Definitely strong projection. I'll pass on this one. A bit too feminine for me and not a pleasing smell. I don't get the coconut.

So sorry guys. This fragrance reminded me of hairspray. 60s hairspray. and it didnt improve with time.

Lace is a fantastic, creamy, white floral, musky fragrance, it has this very interesting wet, watery feeling, the coconut steers clear of smelling like cocoa butter, and it has a wonderful sensual, dirtiness to it. I truly admire and love a white floral fragrance when done the right way, handled with a caring feminine sleight of hand, Lace fits in that category perfectly, unique? no, but crafted beautifully. I get the Jasmine, Musk, Coconut and Ambroxan, it opens up with a fresh, aromatic jasmine, and a raw, rough musk, the jasmine is mild, the musk is strong. After forty five minutes the musk dissipates, the jasmine softens, in comes a warm, animalic ambroxan, and a sweet, buttery coconut, the ambroxan and coconut are mild This is a very strong, tropical breeze, a touch of green and dirtiness, woody and vanilla nuances, fruit essence, unisex, it leans more feminine white floral fragrance This would be wonderful in the Spring and Summer, I get average projection and average longevity, this is a wonderful warm weather fragrance, a strong 4/5 Stars. I have this perfume in a sample. It lasts between 7-8 hours leaving a little more time trace to the skin. Its intensity is medium soft. After getting some samples of Sarah Baker's perfumery, Lace is the one I liked the most. I will say that for me in this perfume the protagonist is jasmine, a jasmine that first comes to us with those clean or particular notes such as calone or helione, but that initially gave me the impression of the smell of lacquer for the hair, that first sensation was curious. When the aroma relaxes its output you start to smell like jasmine is accompanied by the coconut note and this makes that sensation of a delicate and elegant aroma add the qualification of tropical. What makes it a very interesting aroma. Unisex? I am not sure a man feels completely comfortable with this perfume, in my opinion it is more on the feminine side. Eccentric? It is true that working with notes such as calone or hedione can be complicated because people sensitive to the olfactory sensation they give may not like it, but its main notes and aromas are not eccentric, since we are faced with a game of aromas between the jasmine, coconut and vanilla, aromas that will be familiar to many people. Within the world of aromas, I think that if you must take into account aromas to know if it is your perfume or not, you should think about jasmine, coconut and vanilla, but above all I will tell you that if you enjoy the delicate and elegant aroma of jasmine, this perfume It can be very interesting for you.

This perfume is weirdly beautiful. In the opening I quickly sense the creaminess from vanilla and coconut, I also got a little bit medicinal feeling but not too long and in fact I kinda like it here. There’s plenty coconut-vanilla fragrance out there but this one got me attention. It’s got that twist that makes it so addictive and comforting but very wearable to be worn in the humid condition. As the scent settled down, I get the freshness and saltiness as well. It’s weird that it can be both creamy and fresh at the same time. It’s not like your typical coconut perfume, not cloyingly sweet, just the perfect amount of everything. It stays more than 4 hours on my skin and creates a beautiful little bubble. I even thinking selling my existing coconut fragrance and get the full size bottle of it because I only keep 1 from each category 😉.

*Very* similar to Warm Sands Blue Ocean - same nose, different brand. Ignore the fragrantica notes for WSBO and refer to the 4169 Tuesdays website instead. The notable difference is Timbersilk and oakmoss, and actually Lace has oakmoss too if you read the official notes that come with the Sarah Baker sample set. Definitely get the same hint of coconut with WSBO too. I have samples of both and there is a slight difference when they’re adjacent on skin, but it’s subtle enough that having both in my collection would be a definite no.

Dirty coconut. This got hay coconut with jasmines that made it semi-dirty which also sensual. the jasmines aren't really harsh as much as it gives some tough push to the hay coconut mix. I do sense musk, and slight vanilla as well, but the coconut is just slightens the harshness of this blend. I didn't like ti when i first sprayed it but the more i apply to more i crave it. I do see a beach side sensuality, like a glowing skin in a private far away from the public eye beach & listening to "too Many Walls" by Cathy Dennis! Superb.

An unexpected favourite. Sweet but not sickly, beachy but not suntan lotion, salty but not dirty. I never buy florals but the jasmine just smells beautifully feminine and complements the airy vibe. The picture is just getting out of the shower in a tropical destination, in a cool air-conditioned room in an expensive robe. New signature.

This is a stunner... I’m obsessed, it’s powdery and feminine and the coconut adds a little tropical ness to it. It is musky and skinlike, reminds me very much of a slightly prettier and less dirty version of suntanglam which I think is incredible but wouldn’t know how to wear it. This is so addictive, I adore it xxx

Smells of passionate sex but in a good way.
