Lovely Noir

Ohh yes yes yes I need the biggest bottle!!! Woody, green beautiful vetiver, resinous essence, creamy ambery vanilla, slightly tart, earthy patch spice done right, and a dose of oriental fruity floral allure with the mandarin, jasmine, pear. It's been a while since a perfume got me so elated and hyper. My Aries girl did it again with this one. I kept listening to the negative reviews and missing out on a gem like this. 1/3 of it is like La Belle, another oriental beauty: a common tart pear, more subdued here not as salty, a high pitched floral note being the peony instead of the bergamot, jasmine here, floral notes there so this is less sour/salty. Both are built around vetiver, amber, vanilla goodness. Both are oriental beauties (Lovely Noir lacks the leather accord so it makes it easier to wear). This has a dark side to it tho so 1.5/3 is like Iggy's Devil's Advocate, minus the deep, peppery men's deodorant-armpit sweat type of amber-vanilla orchid of that one (which made me get rid of it eventually), but at the drydown they're similar with Lovely Noir being more creamy, more feminine, smoother, just perfect. It's the best substitute for Devil's Advocate. We have mandarin in both, resinous balsamic olibanum there, resinous balsamic benzoin here, sandalwood in both, vetiver here, woody notes there, amber and patch in both. That one's lacking the sweet vanilla of this. It's amazing. The amber isn't sharp and it quickly becomes what's meant to be, I don't have to wait 2 hours or so for the smooth, creamy woody earthy vanilla to evolve or the patch spice to be comforting. They already are right off the bat. Nothing harsh or obnoxious. All of her Lovely line are amazing skin scents even the OG which is the more mature one with the intense patchouli. It's also a less sour less balsamic cousin of Hayan by I Profumi Di Firenze - I have "Echoes of Hope" by The Dua brand (yes The Dua, don't crucify me) it's got notes of White Flowers, Bitter Woods, Madagascar Vanilla, & Patchouli. They're both very woody, decadent with oriental jasmine a sour aspect and a resinous element. Lovely Noir is more wearable tho, built around vanilla and earthy vetiver. The combo is delicious. Not the dusty stale vetiver. Its green woody vetiver vein is embellished so nicely by the benzoin and vanilla. The opening has a freshness before it takes you on that oriental journey. Another cousin imo featuring that beautiful sour salty floral patchouli essence is Intense Natural Jasmine Voyage by The Dua brand for Nomade Jasmin Naturel Intense by Chloé. The notes are Jasmine, Date, Pear, Vanilla, Sandalwood, & Patchouli. The date note is sour resinous there as it is in other date scents, but you see it's likewise built around jasmine, pear, sandalwood and patchouli. So that's the basic recipe I guess. Lovely Noir keeps that beautiful oriental sandalwood, jasmine, pear, patch-vsnilla structure and adds to it more oriental zest with the mandarin, a fresh airy floral note, a decadent resinous balsamic heart and aromatic green slightly dark woods meshing with that rich, ambery vanilla. The best of all the aforementioned scents. l'Interdit is built around pear, jasmine, patch, vanilla and vetiver but the vetiver is smoky on me, the ambroxan bergamot sour, obnoxious, the lack of resinous notes leaves the patchouli unhinged, dirty and harsh so with the indolic florals salad they're reminiscent of old ladies in the Greek church. Long story short I'm very happy with Lovely Noir I can't stop wearing it.

What is it about the pear and jasmine in Lovely Noir that induces a raisin-like quality to my nose? In its entirety the perfume is a complete experience of a boozy, rum and raisin vanilla ice cream but warm. It opens a bit sour but sweet. You've just been handed a scoop of the ice cream. As you eat it, rum fills your senses, addictive and smooth. Once you finish, the trail of vanilla it leaves behind makes you want another scoop. I love how noticeable the benzoin is, and how beautifully well it bleeds into the vanilla that they produce a rum-adjacent harmony. That aspect certainly makes Noir a darker, more mature type of vanilla scent. On its own it stands strong and whole, but I reckon layered with a woody or inky scent this could be a beast. Weirdly enough, the more you sweat the better this perfume becomes, coupled with a long lasting performance on the skin.

This is such a nice boozy non- rich vanilla. As someone who still mourns the discontinuation of stash, I’m so happy SJP is stepping back into a darker, stronger scent. This has great longevity and scent bubble for its price, and I find the woody amber dry down to be so intriguing. I also think this is a particularly good showing of benzoin- the tangy balsamic mixed with the sweetness makes my nose crinkle in a good way. It almost reminds me of a much cheaper version of another recent favourite, sages rose. A great addition to the sjp fam! Update: unfortunately, after a week of macerating, this lost its complexities and turned into a sugar bomb. It’s so disappointing, I loved the deeper woody tang. Not a waste of $$ it’s so cheap, but I wouldn’t bother to buy again

I was very surprised to be able to try this perfume straight out of the box thanks to a kind chemist warehouse worker. It smelled absolutely divine on the paper, I absolutely love delicious fruity-sweet, amber-forward scents. But unfortunately, when I got around to testing it on my skin, the vetiver and sandalwood notes also jumped out with the amber and made it smell a bit too masculine for my liking (plus I'm not particularly a fan of vetiver either, it kinda smells like hay to me) So although I was disappointed by the dry down, I still like this scent and am confident that it would smell nicer on other people as it's just too strong on me !

I thought this was very powdery and had the typical 'noir' smell on my first initial spray. However, the drydown is sooooo beautiful 😍😍😍 very powdery, vanilla-ry, and smooth. This is how I wish Vanilla Powder by Matiere Premiere should have smelt like, and I also prefer this fragrance to Grand Soir. I don't own any of the SJP line but I have tried many of them and really rate them, especially for the price, it's a steal!. This fragrance is by far my favorite from the line, and I can't get over how good this actually is.

Absolutely gorgeous, warm, creamy and resinous amber. It's very feminine and not overpowering, the scent doesn't hit you hard but envelops you like a hug. It feels almost like base notes from the top with how soft and well blended it is, very smooth and feminine and cozy with a little spiciness. I can see this becoming a favorite !

Probably the best from the Lovely collection, it’s sweet ambery vanilla. A subtle but enduring fragrance and an absolute beast for layering! Have used up 40ml in a matter of weeks - amazing with Arabian fragrances. Alone it’s a gorgeous grown up Impulse vanilla kisses vibe

It punches above its weight! pear and jasmine opening with nice sweet vanilla and amber base. The dry down is actually so good smelling I layer this with Mercedes Benz Club Black for a more masculine vanilla amber hit. For the price you can't beat it.

I LOVE this scent, but perhaps I go a bit ansosmic to it? Can't smell it only a few minutes after spraying. A shame because it's absolutely beautiful, sweet (but not too much) and a little spicy. A cozy fragrance.

wow it's my favorite of the rest I have, it smells sexy, sweet, ripe, deep, romantic, a little patchouli with pear (this is a fragrance) which is perfect with the name and the bottle. You mean 10/10😍

I tested this yesterday.. Only on a tester strip though. I don't like the OG, but this is nice. Next time i see it, I'll give it a proper wear. The notes are just my cup of tea.

Very pretty warm boozy creamy vanilla scent. It's pretty long lasting and super affordable. My husband said - delicious .. enough said!

Purchased a second hand bottle off of ebay, I assume it's had enough time to macerate. I like orientals, like khamrah and coctail intense, this leans unisex and is rather different to those two but is still oriental with added floral. Not sure if I'm into vetiver. Might layer it with vanilla and see if it helps calm the vetiver. Good for work, inoffensive, cheap and decent smelling. My partner said he would wear it too.

Ok so i finally got a bottle, and im undecided. I dont think its quite me but i can see this being a winner for some. Its very fruity on initial spray with a very earthy dirt essence in the background. I didnt like it but i do keep smelling my hand so there is something that keeps drawing me in. Jurys still out.

I'm getting cocoa... Why/what is that? To me this is a generic bla bla bla scent. Not memorable, not offensive... Plain, watered-down mellanmjölk. I'm glad I only got the 30 ml of nothingness 😌 I'll finish it just because and then never again... A big fat "meh"!

This is quite nice a subtle warm woodland fragrance, I got a tiny bottle, I won’t buy a full bottle because the scent only seems to last about 2-4 hours on me and I like something a little more punchy, but quite a lovely scent overall.

This pulls like a sweeter Swiss Arabian Casablanca on me. Lasting power isn't bad and silage is decent. Nothing phenomenal but a good non offensive office perfume for the winter.

Opens up really promisingly, smelling like pure vanilla essence. Dries down to boring generic. A shame.

I have mentioned this before that I am not a fan of SJP's fragrances in general, I've tried most of the fragrances in her collection and so far I only like a small few of her fragrances. So my expectations for this new Lovely Noir fragrance was very low to begin with and I was prepared to be disappointed yet again, and I was right. This fragrance smelled awful, it's like a bad mix of woody, spicy and amber notes which did not blend well at all. This is by far the worst fragrance from SJP I've smelled so far.

This has too much patchouli for my personal taste. It reminds me of something but I can’t put my finger on what it’s is because it’s not something I like! If I said that people who like Donna Born In Roma would probably like Lovely Noir, would that help?! It’s warm and sweet, with a lot of patchouli, not as fruity as DBIR but it’s the same vibe to me.

Lovely Noir is an exceptionally sultry deep dirty vanilla that even non vanilla fans can enjoy. It reminds me of equal parts 90s Dulce Vanilla, Vanilla Fields and vanilla coke with a veil of vetiver running through it It also reminds me of Gucci by Gucci which has the same pear and patchouli vibe. I love this layered with spicy vintage particularly Spellbound, Cinnabar and Elizabeth Taylor Passion. It also reminds me of Impulse vanilla kisses body spray from my youth but more erotic. I think this is a fantastic scent for topping up other vintage spicy scents and have started carrying a bottle in my handbag and have bought several backups.

This is a beautiful sweet vanilla amber fragrance, similar to vanilla 28 (but lighter) to my nose. However, the longevity is abysmal! Lasts literally 10 minutes. I thought it was just me becoming anosmic to it, but I had bought bottles for two different family members, and they too have the same opinion as me on its longevity. So although I think this is beautiful, who wants to be respraying constantly all day long.

Ok so finally received my bottle today - I do in general love what Sarah Jessica create , I was curious to try this new opus - at first spray this is very similar to le Couvent des minimes eaux des missions - again in the same family as guerlain - I really get a strong vanilla note coming through - I can’t comment on longevity as of yet but it is a complete different direction for SJP - I love it !1

One spray and staight to the give-away pile it goes. I feel I've smelled this kind of cloying, synthetic amber a million times before from brands like Zara, Victoria's Secret and so on. I was keen to try this because it makes a change from the repetitive floral musks we've been seeing in the Lovely line. Unlike those others, this one projects well and lasts ages. Unfortunately.

If Ard Al Zaafaran's Wafa had a femme version. Light, sweeter and more versatile. If you like this, try that. It's less complex but more of a crowd pleaser. For the price, an absolute steal. The patchouli hear leans into boozy/woody rather than earthy and there is a dose of ethyl maltalol subbing for fruit. A useful office scent

Wow this one smells amazing and my only favourite from the lovely collection. I’m not in love with the other Lovely fragrances because they smell too feminine for me but Lovely Noir really smells good on my skin and I love this I would get it again

Tested today, super vanilla-y and creamy but not much else! Was coincidentally wearing SJP Stash and layered this on top and the two together smelled incredible! Maybe a good layering scent but for me personally not enough to wear on its own.

Lovely Noir and Madonna’s Thruth or Dare Naked are very similar to my nose. Lovely Noir has less cacao (maybe not at all?) and is somehow less dirty, softer, well behaving. This as my first impression. Have to see how Lovely Noir develops.

Boozy vanilla with amber and some spice. Just like Khamrah, Angel's Share & Co. Absolutely boring, like all the others in the genre. A scent profile overdone, a trend that needs to die.

Hmm, another "Unisex" Masterpiece akin to SJP Stash by fellow Frag-Head Sarah J. Parker? The notes certainly hint at this possibly being unisex?.. Anyone try this exciting release yet?

An Absolute LOVE! Hands down one of the best non vanilla vanillas I've ever smelt! And for $10aud, its a no brainer.. I bought 3 bottles 🤣

I am a fan of SJP perfumes....can't wait to try this! Only found it available in the UK right now. Soon...it will be here! :)
