Lovely Sheer

I decided to wear this today as I’m tired of the dreary cold, wet of winter already and wanted something fresh and that felt like a springtime nap on clean sheets. That’s exactly what this gives me. It’s light and happy and I get a lot of bergamot from this so it’s giving me some Earl grey tea vibes which I love. I pick up the gardenia too so if you’re not a white floral fan, you probably won’t like this. It’s soapy in a delicate hand soaps shaped like flowers on a bathroom counter kind of way but not a Dove soap fresh from the shower kind of way. I really enjoy this scent. There’s also something in the background that is vaguely reminiscent of pencil shavings, which sounds odd, but I like it. I’m guessing that’s the white woods note. Overall, a pretty scent that reminds me of crisp cotton button downs with jeans or a cotton sundress that’s been dried on the line. My nose goes blind to it fairly quickly but I get compliments well into the day so lasting power must be alright when sprayed on clothes (I always do).

I had to review this, because it is one of my favorites ☺️ Crispy clean, uplifting, lovely dry down. I think it deserves more love than other highly popular fragances - that disappointed me greatly. This is one of the few perfumes with Bergamot note that but I can really feel it (the fresh one, not the chemical formulas). I also smell clearly the gardenia flower. Longevity is medium on my skin, a little better on clothes. I don't feel sexy wearing it, but I feel myself... Transparent like the bottle. It has nothing to do with the original Lovely, or Lovely You : both in my collection but gifted to friends.

I love this! Far better than the original! And it smolders on my skin in the heat and really works its magic. Its fresh and lasts a really long time on my skin and keeps that fresh scent and does not melt off my skin when i sweat, like most fragrances do on me. I love the opening so much but the dry down is such a clean musky freshness that is really nice in the heat and im satisfied with the performance. Its beautiful and fresh yet strong. I dont like weak fragrances at all, they diminish too quickly and are a waste of money. This is well done especially for oily skin and ppl who sweat a lot like i do.

SJP Lovely Sheer = The unisex version of Aqua Di Gio. This is the original lovely but with less apple martini smell...and the citrus notes turned way up. This is very shower fresh! This really is like a less-earthy, less feminine, more shower-fresh version of lovely. To sum it up...it's gorgeous...CLEAN...and unisex. Smells like Aqua Di Gio for men and the original Lovely had a baby. Beautiful. Clean. Classy. Unisex. Crowd Pleaser. Compliment magnet. Sillage - Great! About 4-5 feet. Longevity - Also great! About 6-7 hours. Scent Itself - 9/10 Overall Score - 9/10 SJP is a fragrance genius. Period.

A nice twist to "Lovely" musky fragrance, perfect partner to Gardenia(Orange Blossom is a white flower too but I don't know if it's what I'm picking up) that I love too. They smooth each other out. 02/02*I'm wearing Lovely 10th Anniversary today and I pick up what I identify as "white flower", since every time I smell it and check it, the common denominator is that.* Very light, maybe I should use it in Summer when I'm warmer(right now even the strongest of my fragrances aren't coming through as much as they usually do).

Lovely Sheer is like a modernised version of the original. It's more wearable, the sharpest notes are a bit softer. I don't see this as a flanker. If you are like me and find the original a bit difficult to wear, because of the alcohol notes (or this is my impression), Sheer is a better choice. This is something I can wear after sauna, to work or use it as a dumb reach. Longevity is surprisingly good. It's very inexpensive but does not smell like a celebrity cheapie.

I’m here to tell you that this perfume smells nothing like Phlur Missing Person, Narciso Rodriguez For Her, or Replica Lazy Sunday Morning. None of those have the orange blossom citrus that Sheer Lovely has. With that being said, I love this one. I’ve always loved the OG Lovely but I have to say I think I like Sheer better. Someone mentioned it gives a Clinique Happy vibe and I totally agree. The orange floral. It’s Happy but more delicate.

THIS is a Lovely I can wear! I wanted to love the original and could see why she is sooo popular, but the patchouli note was just to prominent for me. But here come this little beauty, to me it smells like fresh floral peony and musk! So beautiful! But like many sheers, it needs to be reapplied often. But since it smells so so good, the reapply is like an calm, uplifting "me" moment throughout my day.

Lovely Sheer is my favourite from the Lovely collection. It has everything I love about the original and enhances the floral qualities of it, lessens the musk, and makes it a bit more citrusy and dewy. I love wearing this whenever, and it's not easy to over spray. Easy going... Lovely!

This is delicious, fresh and light, with really beautiful citrus notes that make it perfect for spring or summer. Hugely neglected and/or under-rated. They aren't the same but this does have a similar essence to Benefit's Maybe Baby.

Oh wow - I just picked this one up and it is another SJP Lovely flanker win. Gardenia. Citrus. Musk. This one is also a bit bright and fuzzy, like the OG. Did I mention the gardenia? You can pick it out.

Lovely Sheer is a light, sheer citrus floral musk - inexpensive and excellent for layering with other perfumes to bring out any of these three elements of another scent.

So pretty and clean. Like walking in a garden of gardenias, drinking a mellow glass of lemonade wearing a little splash of Diorissimo.

Natalie Wood perfume with the hint of Elie Saab Le Parfum! My aunt loves it to wear and I smell it everytime I met her!

I have this and Lazy Sunday Morning by Maison Margiela. I much prefer this for actual lazy sunday mornings!

I am currently trial testing this but I do like it just not as much as the original Lovely so far. Lovely Sheer is.. Well, to put it rather bluntly a very sheer, citrus and airy sort of perfume. It's deliciously clean and bright and just.. Idk there's something happy about it.. In some ways it actually reminds me of Happy by Clinique for the sort of vibe it gives off being clean, citrus and just uplifting. It feels like spring in a bottle however it is nothing like Happy! Just want to put that out there. Both perfumes just uplift me and that's an absolutely lovely effect to have on ones mental health. Anyways back to the review: Lovely Sheer is a delight, I must confess. If you like to smell clean and of gardenia.. But not the cloying, buttery gardenia that chokes you out I think you might really like this. I personally love all of the notes listed in Lovely Sheer and that is why I blind bought it and I personally don't regret it but I am still trying to find that sweet spot, perhaps layering it with something like lavender or skin musk but that's the thing about this and the original Lovely, you can definitely layer these or wear them as stand alones and I like that. Also: Lovely Sheer is clean but not in an overly screechy way (I'm looking at you Elizabeth Taylor and J Lo perfumes). This is really just light, clean and airy. It's like something the Air Faerie from Neopets would wear and I'm so here for it. It's like spring in a bottle but without the pollen LOL

This is very simply, a fresher, lighter and cleaner version of the original Lovely. It feels and smells so similar to the original, but without the weight and enveloping waxy petal texture with intense musk that made it difficult for me to wear frequently. This edition is soapier (thanks to the orange blossom), it retains some of the powdery quality (while being delicate about it), and has an overall more citrusy body. There is no doubt to me that it is a relative of Lovely (the initial moments smell almost identical), but it softens and settles into a version that is entirely more wearable through heat and humidity. It has never once given me a headache (like the original was prone to do), and I have never received the commentary of it being too much, too reaching or choking like the original prompted people to do. It is the quiet younger sister of the original. So many of the same aspects, but you just have to listen more closely to hear the same attitude. This is for me, a really good balance which allows me to wear and enjoy a fragrance that caused me some difficulty. If you enjoy clean, citrus or soapy scents, or if the original version was too much for you, Sheer could very well be a good choice for you. I picked it up as a blind buy (which is very out of the ordinary for me), knowing the things I wished Lovely was, and it worked out to be almost exactly in line with what I needed. Mature, elegant, simple and easy to wear. Nice.

I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance, it's definitely the best version of Lovely (at least to me) both in terms of longevity and smell. I wanted to love the original SJP Lovely so much because it's a very nice budget perfume, very accessible, affordable and very different from the typical sweet, syrupy celebrity scents but it had something that put me off, it was something I couldn't stand about the original Lovely and now that I have the Sheer version I can compare it - it's the lavender! Lovely Sheer has the same DNA to the original version (and to Narciso Rodriguez for her!) except the strong, cold, harsh, lavender and the irony is that on me Is more long lasting and has better projection. Very clean, floral, citrusy, natural smell. A perfect blend of musk, citrusy notes, pink pepper, orange blossom and a sprinkle of gardenia - so simple yet so complex and feminine.

I find this to be about 80% similar to the original Lovely. The other 20% is reminiscent of Happy or Happy Heart. I'm not sure I really needed to buy this one, even though I got it for practically nothing, as I already have the OG. It's nice enough but not really so distinctive. I wish the citrus were more pronounced on me and lasted longer. What I do get in the opening as far as the citrus goes is a slightly bitter note. I don't mind it actually but I would have preferred something livelier and less generically citrusy. Longevity is similar to the OG. I suppose I will wear this in the summer and then decide if I want to keep it in my collection or to give it away. Edit - So I gave it to my sister who used to wear Happy Heart and she's thrilled with it. All in all it is a nice scent but I didn't feel I needed it in addition to the OG which I feel is more distinctive.

Sometimes, I actually want a perfume that I like, not love. To love a scent -- at least for me --it needs originality and complexity. It must draw me in, engage my senses, and keep me captivated with its dance. Like any good lover, it must reflect and highlight aspects of my inner world that lie below my consciousness. A perfume I love is a friend I am excited to see. But, on some days, I don't want to engage, or be seduced. I want an easy exchange with a pleasant acquaintance, not a stimulating conversation with a close friend. Lovely sheer is the easy exchange. Not striking, not complex, not unique. Yet it too enriches my life. I haven't tried the original. This smells somewhat synthetic at first, but fades into a clean, slightly sweet, your-skin-but-better fragrance

While this does smell a lot like "Lovely" and as it should being from the same line. It has its own fresh green spin. It's a lot lighter. Not as starchy. I love the classic smell that "Lovely" has and this has that still. If you've ever tried "Covet :: Pure Bloom" this has a bit of that in it as well. The petals are the same I believe. Has great staying power. I wore for a 8 hour shift at work, took a shower and still had a linger on my skin and hair, and found the shirt I wore and it was still on there. Great 10+ staying power. Also got the attention of co workers. One told me "it's a rich person smell! That's what rich people wear" haha!

This is a perfect blend of freshness. I gifted this to my mother and it was gone within two months. I'd buy it over and over again for just these reasons: a burst of freshness that lasts hours on skin and clothing and traces of it remain present until the next day. I love it as much as my mother because it is so gentle. I used it morning and night to feel good. Nothing brought my spirits up as much as this bottle's juice. My mother and I could use this freely without overthinking that it is too strong.

I love this! Sheer Lovely smells like Lovely after a bubble bath- just a bit more fresh and sparkly. For some reason I've had a hard time finding in the US, and I ended up blind-buying a tester bottle on eBay. I'm so glad I did! Longevity is about the same as Lovely, but I can smell it on my clothes very well. I will be buying a backup bottle soon. Does anyone know the nose?

Lovely Sheer is a lighter summer version of the original SJP Lovely. It has the same distinctive musky base, but is a tad more floral and less herbal. Despite the notes listed in the pyramid, not that much different from the original. All in all an impeccably made perfume, but IMHO if you have the one you don't need the other. Still, amazing quality for a tiny price!

This is very similar to the original Lovely. A bit dissapointed that they're so alike. Tryed to put original Lovely on one wrist and this Lovely Sheer on the other. There's a slight difference. Sheer smells to me like a blend of Lovely and Covet also by SJP. I didnt fancy Covet. Lovely Sheer did last longer on my skin than original Lovely.

I was surprised to find I actually prefer this to the original Lovely. Born Lovely was a disappointment, watery cedar. Lovely Sheer is soft yet bright & uplifting. It can be worn in many indoor environments without disturbing others, yet I can catch whiffs of it & enjoy it throughout the day. I love this type of easy reach fragrance.

Such a great feminine scent. Lives up to its name. I love the original lovely, but the sheer version is more delicate, and beautiful. Definitely reminded me of the narcisco rodriguez for her line of perfumes. Musky floral goodness. A great everyday scent that is inoffensive.

The bottle initially seemed like it had cloudy liquid inside. Possibly off, I thought. But it seems that is the appearance. Very much like a lighter, more citrussy Lovely. Nothing spectacular, but fresh for hotter days. Keep having to reapply as it seems to disappear on me.

A fresher, less woody take on the original. I smell the orange blossoms most on this fragrance, and I don't hate it! It's very pretty. The cirtrus fades quickly on me, and I'm left with dewy orange blossoms. Very lady like and sophisticated, similar to the original.

I think I've finally found a citrus scent that lasts all day on me! I'm very pleased with this scent so far. This is a lighter, more citrusy and floral version of Lovely. If you like the original and you would like a summery version, look no further!

Smells similar to Missing Person by Phlur to me. Not a dupe, but very similar so let that be your judge if you will like this one or not. Musky with some citrus and floral notes. Subtle and not overpowering.

Pretty much like the original but not as heavy (don’t sense the patchouli; more floral). I wish I had skipped on purchasing this since I find them too alike.

If you like the Clean line of fragrances, you'll like this. To me it smells like someone who JUST stepped out of the shower. It'll be wonderful for summer!

I have the mist and it's really fresh harsh white floral no sweet or blended note. Alcoholic in opening and disappeared without leaving anything behind. It's linear and nothing stand out. If perfume is same as mist than it's good fresh summer scent for hot weather.

Purchased this and immediately was disappointed it just smelled of soap. I Let it sit for a week and it had gotten so much better! Nice fresh floral. Longevity isn't amazing but not terrible either.

It's like the diet version of Lovely. It smells like it, but it's missing something and I'm not satisfied by it and would rather have the original.

Very clean and pretty, but zero longevity unfortunately. Not even worth spraying as it's gone 10 minutes later.

Beautiful bottle but smells like (sorry) cheap fragrance.

Not sure where the light and soft comments are coming from, but this fragrance is HEAVY on the nose for me. It smells like you'd just showered, but wait! You up the ante by rubbing cheap dryer sheets on your skin. Doesn't make sense + bad imagery for this review but that's the point. It's almost TOO clean of a fragrance, and the heavy citrus note combined with the musk makes this smell like chemicals. Even for late spring and summertime, this is still too heavy. I initially sprayed it in the air and my sister squinched her nose before saying, "No." It becomes light after the dry down which explains the cost of the fragrance. Myself aside, I tried this on three other women. It lasts longer in the air than it does on the skin. Furthermore, I would barely consider this a 'refresher' fragrance. It's not refreshing. It's nauseating.

SJP fragrances appear well-regarded on Fragrantica so I was quite excited to try this one. I didn't get any soapy notes - to me soapy notes are clean, fresh - just out of the shower but Lovely Sheer has heavy orange and floral vibes. The dry down seemed to add a buttery layer to it all making it quite sickly. I'd say this was a very mature and slightly dated scent.I definitely won't wear this again and will be glad when it wears off.

This perfume indeed reminds of Lovely, but without the patch/lavender combo it is less earthy. I absolutely love the cocktail-in-the-sube vibe of bergamot and oranges and flowers. However, at times the gardenia together with the musk becomes overpowering and overly soapy on my skin. Even though the musk is toned down compared to Lovely, I am afraid it is still too much for me. But do try if you like musk and gardenia!

Definitely better than lovely, more delicate. But it’s still so called old lady perfume. I don’t like it, even as air refresher it’s a bit smelly.

It is Clinique Happy for me, nothing more to add. Oh, perhaps that it turns a bit musty pretty quickly.

Finally I got my own bottle of Lovely Sheer. It's Eau de Parfum not Eau de Toilette, like what Fragrantica have stated in the article above. But why SJP's Teams don't just name it 'Lovely Girl' because IMO this new version is more feminine (for those who doesn't really like the prominant notes of musky-aromatic in the original version), quite sweet but not too much, it's lighter than the original EdP. However, it still has the original Lovely's DNA in it, but less woody, less earthy-aromatic-y vibes & same amount of muskyness. The sparkling apple martini & the lavender notes in the original was replaced by the 'juicy but fresh mandarin' & the gardenia. But (for those who loves white florals but hate gardenia just like me) please don't be fooled by gardenia in Sheer because they are very humble & friendly gardenia. It's one of the main notes in Sheer but not a diva-like as usual. It's very well blended with mandarin (thanks for that) and the combination makes this new Lovely version more wearable. But for me the original Lovely are still the winner. About the perfomance, even though it's called Sheer but still performs very well. It's projects moderately & lasts all day on me (same goes to original EdP). Unfortunately, there are the only 1 thing that bothers me... It's stays linear in about 1 hour after sprayed until the end of the day. Doesn't has the same plot like original EdP which i really love, from first to finish, it changed quite some time... Overall, I still like this new version & I'm glad that I finally have it. Never regret buying it 'cuz it still Lovely though... This is a must have in a collection and recommended...

The pharmacy across the road from my workplace stocks Lovely Sheer by Sarah Jessica Parker. Occasionally after finishing work, I will visit this pharmacy to sample some of the fragrances they stock. Lovely Sheer was a flanker I hadn't heard much about, so I decided to test this fragrance on the skin to see how it varied to the original Lovely. Lovely Sheer shares a dominant white musk accord with the original, however, this fragrance is brighter and more Summer appropriate. The opening is quite fresh and zesty with bergamot, mandarin orange, gardenia and pink pepper. The drydown features a very distinctive white musk note with vetiver, white woods and residual white floral notes. Lovely Sheer is not unique nor an outstanding fragrance, but it is incredibly easy to wear. Lovely Sheer is a great fragrance to wear to bed, whilst running errands or within the workplace. It has great longevity and a moderate to soft projection on the skin. I greatly enjoyed sampling Lovely Sheer. To my nose, it smells like a zestier version of Narciso Rodriguez EDT (in the black bottle). Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the more palatable celebrity fragrance brands. Her scents are often subdued musky florals, suitable for women of all ages. They are devoid of the typical saccharine sweetness found in popular celebrity scents, which I consider a god-send.

I reviewed this briefly after a quick spray in a store and didn't think that much of it. I've since managed to buy a cheap bottle and have had the time to get a little more acquainted with it and my opinion has changed. I still think the bottle looks great, but the little round cap that sits on the top doesn't really click into place properly and falls off easily. But I do love the sheer white-tinged glass and pale pink band at the top. This reinterpretation of the original Lovely bottle really does represent the fragrance inside nicely. I like the fragrance more than I did. It has a strong green/citrus opening that gives way to a well, sheerer version of Lovely after about 30 minutes. Lasts for a good 10-12 hours on me. If you like the original Lovely but found that it gets a bit too sharp as it wears then try this version. It's like they pulled back all the strong notes and made it smell more "even" if you know what I mean. Overall, it really is lovely and it really is sheer. Nice job all round and a great choice for Summer. I wonder why this one is so hard to get hold of when Stash is all over the place and is a much less crowd-pleasing fragrance?

I absolutely love this perfume. It is beautifully soft, light and feminine. It is such a joy to wear, it makes me think of prosecco flavoured with clemintine syrup...I love to spritz this all over and be surrounded by this gorgeous scent. It's amazing for summer but it's winter here at the moment and I am happily wearing it now. It lasts about 3 hours on me, but I am more than happy to reapply this during the day as I just love spritzing myself with this! I am not a fan of the original Lovely...there is something in it that I just don't like, that I find too strong and heavy, it's just too much for me somehow. Lovely Sheer though is one that I always plan to have, I currently have 2 back up bottles as I can't bear the thought of being without it. It's a great price for such a pretty perfume...I got mine for around £15. It's getting harder to find on the high street here in the UK now, however I can still easily find it online

This is beautiful! This is definitely similar to lovely but without the peppery hit at the start and no lavender or patchouli. It’s a more citrus and floral version which makes it brighter and better for warmer weather. I love the musky base of this it’s just stunning. It definitely smells similar to the Narciso Rodriguez collection with the beautiful florals and the musk mixed in. Honestly well worth the $20 spend if you can find it. I find it good for any time of the day even bedtime it’s lovely.It actually lasts longer on me than the original lovely which I was surprised with. All the lovely collection Is not the longest lasting but they smell so nice you don’t mind topping it up. And for the price you can buy quite a few bottles and just use more and spray it more liberally. Absolutely recommend this perfume it’s a real find
