Lovely You

So I picked this up finally at Kohl's now that it is making it's rounds to the stores. Still not on SJPbeauty websites yet though. First let me say this bottle...wow. The most beautiful "LOVELY" bottle yet. It's a shame they aren't making a 3.4 oz of this because this bottle is a stunner. It's kind of a copper/gold plated bottle, with a beautiful amber rose glitter lacquer all over the bottom, with the signature lovely bubble glass topper, and the spray atomizer is a heavy brassy gold with the SJP stamp on the top. BEAUTIFUL bottle. The lettering on the front in the frosted grey/beige is just timeless. The fragrance is HEAVILY powdery. Instantly brings "baby powder" scent to the forefront for me. It's like the first "baby powder" scent that's done "RIGHT". Many try to do "baby powder" and it's just synthetic. As per usual with SJP she really does the goods with her fragrances, and this compilations got the goods. The olfactory layers are brilliant. Baby powder softness, with that familiar MUSK that all LOVELY scents have (Lovely, Sheer, Born) and throws in a soft white floral as well on dry down. The "plum" note is not coming out at all on me, nor is the vanilla. Just floral's and baby powdered musk. Soft, intimate, and professional. Another "WINNER" in the SJP lineup.

Wow I'm impressed by SJP perfumes,I've been a Stella Macartney wearer,but her line has really reduced (Stella is no more)so I've had to look elsewhere for cruelty free. I have the original Lovely which I love to wear in the cooler weather or bedtime but I wanted to try another in the range,and liked the sound of Lovely you.I think this is a skin scent which I like,it does nt seem to have loads of projection,but if you get close it's there,my husband said after a shower and a spray,"you smell nice,you smell REALLY nice" I get the soft musk,the benzoin I normally don't like vanilla but it's just a hint and gives some warmth.The florals are there but for me not loud.I think this has sexy mum vibe,to me it's a comforting,freshly washed linen,powder with a hint of warm loveliness on the dry down.Ill be wearing this on a autumn lunch out, moving into winter it's more cool weather for me,or an evening scent.Now need to find a SJP that will work for me in the spring summer.

Nina (a few reviews down) is absolutely correct. If there ever was to be an adult baby powder, it would smell like Lovely You, yet there's something a bit sexy about this pink floral, musky, powdery softness. It is not musky in the same way as Narciso fragrances which I prefer. This is 100% for the person who loves powdery or musky scents. I can't imagine if offending anyone, maybe those who want strong projection/ longevity might be unhappy. I layer it with my strong powdery fragrances during the day (soft projection) to make them more crowd pleasing and wear it every night to bed, sniffing myself. Standalone this fragrance is a skin scent, it projects within the first 10 seconds and then settles quite quicky. It is more musky than floral or powdery (think Katy Perry Indi) and very soft. Longevity on skin is lacklustre. I won't be repurchasing, almost through my bottle.

Soft cocoon. This is delicately sweet, creamy, clean, soapy, powdery and musky. The silage is very weak as is the longevity on skin. I am not a wearer of scent to bed but because of the silage and longevity this is ideal for after the shower before bed, so that’s how I’m using it. As it doesn’t last it doesn’t keep my nose up all night. It stays around just long enough to lull you to sleep. I spray it on the lapels of my pyjamas, to improve longevity and so I can bury my nose as I drift off. It is comforting and a bit nostalgic. It has a cocooning effect and I think it might actually help with inducing sleep faster. As the review below mentions, it does have a baby powder aspect. Maybe that adds to the almost being rocked to sleep sensation this gives. A scent lullaby. 🤍🍼🧴🫧😴

I told my sister that if the powder blue colour had a scent, this must be it. It reminds me of my aunt's favourite Jovan Musk / White Musk, but this one's softer, mellower. This is a bedtime scent for me as it helps me relax. I noticed that after 2 hours, it stayed close to the skin, and I could barely smell it anymore; I can't complain though as it's not expensive anyway.

This screams spring, but can be a year round fragrance. This is the embodiment of feminine. It’s lush and airy with a,little powder, but not in a “perfumey” way. In a soft and fluffy way. It fits its name. Love this one. Don’t care as much for the original. The original is an ok scent, just not my cup of tea, but this is heavenly.

This is the best perfume that SJP made imo. The OG Lovely smells way too masculine and patchouli-like to me. Lovely You, however, is very feminine and powdery. Instant love. A baby powder soft cloud. Sooooo good. It doesn't last long, but it's not expensive so I don't mind having to keep spraying

I love this perfume. I got it for Christmas. It smells comforting, vintage and classic. It's baby powder but so much more. Perfectly blended and somehow familiar. I will definitely purchase it again in the future.

This is so gorgeous. I can't stop sniffing my wrist. Watery flowers and benzoin made this so unique smelling. There is a tiny resemblance to glow by jlo, but this smells a lot better...

I adore this perfume! It reminds me of a nice white musk with added goodness. It's a light, non offensive scent. Great for every occasion in my opinion! I hope it's never discontinued!

This is beautiful. It’s the type of fragrance that makes you close your eyes and smell it over and over. I envision a freshly washed baby when I smelled this. Get it. You’ll love it

It reminds me of something but I can't remember what it is, it's a sweet, very floral, very fresh/light plum powder. Nice everyday scent, good choice. 9/10, the bottle is perfect.

Beautiful bottle and fragrance. Soft musky, floral fragrance which sadly doesn't appear to last very long which is a great pity as i adore it.

A sheer version of Jovan musk. Overspraying is recommended. Great post-shower scent. Baby powder is the quintessential feminine smell.

A cross between kiehl's musk spray and jovan white musk. But very light and a skin scent. Baby powdery but in an adult way.

This is very dreamy and powdery. If serenity had a scent this would be it. It smells like "cotton", I mean the way products named "cotton" usually smell like. It smells quite mature imo though, not juvenile. It would be suitable for older women too that dont want to smell like "date night" or seductive. It is very elegant. If you have a baby and you want to smell like a sweet, kind "mom" this is it. I dont pick up much of the white flowers listed, other than some of the jasmine blended so well with the benzoin and musk, while the plum blossom and orchid give it its unique powdery character, almost like violet or lavender but lavender can be deep, nauseating even masculine to me sometimes. This scent is a peaceful white room with fluffy blue curtains, on a spring day's afternoon, the calming coo sounds of doves fill the room, and there's an open scented powder sitting on top of the vanity next to the open window, imagine Woods of Windsor type of dusting powder, and some spring time breeze coming in picking up the powder scent mixed with some jasmine from the garden. That is spring time coziness and bliss and this perfume is exactly that. I consider it in the same family of perfumes like Jennifer's Lolavie (no resemblance tho), the very powdery soft scents that remind you of dolls, or babies (like a reviewer mentions below about this fragrance "washed baby" :). Longevity of the mist is alright on me but the fragrance performs way better. I was not a fan of the original Lovely. But this one is truly lovely. Safe blind buy if you like calming, powdery scents. Update: the drydown is phenomenal,not as powdery anymore, it is mostly peony, benzoin, vanilla orchid (one of my favorite creamy notes). This has become a favorite, even more than Born Lovely and I never expected that. The bottle's colors with the glitter is also stunning. 10/10

Ok, so after initially smelling nothing when I tried to test this at Kohl’s... I tried again earlier today. I still could barely get much scent through my mask, but I did get a little waft of something when I lifted my mask away a bit for a second. And the very light scent that I did finally get was utter HEAVEN! As I said in a previous “review” of this, the original Lovely is my signature scent. But this, oh my, this could knock the original out. Alas, it won’t though because while this is just beautiful, it is indeed very light, which is why I got almost nothing when trying to smell through a mask. And longevity and silage are pretty poor, maybe 1 hour on my skin, with not much scent trail to speak of. It’s truly a shame because this scent is of such good quality otherwise. This is truly a flanker of Lovely. The DNA is all there, they share a particular musk that is one of most beautiful musks I’ve ever smelled. This is powdery, but powdery done in the best way. It is not dry, but very creamy. It is just all soft, beautiful, clean smelling skin. I could imagine this as being named something like “Lovely Skin”, but Lovely You sounds nicer 😉. Very much like a freshly washed baby as handkmommy has said below. I adore this. I got a 1.7 oz bottle and the body’s mist for a song at around $20. I love it so much I don’t care how much I will need to reapply. And I will already buy a back up... you know, just in case!

Okay, so I've had nothing but success with the Lovely line-up. Each one offers something for a different mood (even if some of those moods are super similar and only subtle desires differentiate them) and this one is no different... and is also sort of no different from about 3 or 4 other super cheap white musk fragrances with a tiny nail polish remover aspect in the background (which I love by the way, I'm not being ironic). You *need* this if: 1.) You love white musk fragrances and tiny differences amongst super similar fragrances is good enough or great for you 2.) You want to complete the Lovely collection. You probably won't be disappointed. It's not entirely offensive unless you dislike clean scents. 3.) You have no white musk scents and want an easy introduction that isn't weak, low in projection or animalic. 4.) You like the pretty bottle (it's $10 for 30mL it won't break the bank) OR you want a fragrance bottle that calls you Lovely whenever you wear it (through non-moving, stationary text. it's not going to speak to you, sadly) Overall it's probably the least original offering in the line, but I like White Musk (Jovan) and so owning a less fruity version of that works for me. I still prefer "Born" and "Sheer", though.

The initial spray was very sharp and I distinctly smelled cinnamon!?! I thought this was going to end up being a warm fall/winter fragrance! But less than 30 seconds later, it settled into a soft, slightly spicy musk! Nothing at all what I initially smelled. It’s very pretty and soft. It’s a great cozy day around the house scent unless you prefer to wear a soft fragrance. I actually don’t get a lot of the powdery accord- maybe a bit, but not like baby powder, more like a makeup pressed powder. If you’re looking for a powdery scent, Lovely lights was way more powdery in my opinion. This is pretty but so far, of the flankers I have purchased, I still adore the original! There isn’t much of the original DNA in this. It’s its own fragrance. I personally think it’s a bit too soft for me, I prefer a bit of a louder scent. However, this would be a great bedtime scent for me! I find it a pretty, relaxing scent!

I got this scent years ago as part of a subscription box. At the time, I kind of hated it. I would try it occasionally, but it reminded me of old ladies. The opening is sharp with white florals riding a harsh alcohol base. I think I usually washed it off before the dry down, or didn't use enough to notice it. Now, years later, since I've begun collecting perfumes, I've saved this and added it to my spring collection. I find that when I use it in the context of other scent profiles and seasonality, I can appreciate it for what it is. The floral opener is still a bit sharp to my nose, but the baby powder and musk dry down is refreshing and clean. It seems to last until the next day, which can't be said for a lot of my scent collection. It's still not a favorite for me, but it's really grown on me. Just goes to show that noses can change.

The original Lovely is my signature scent. I will forever love it. I tried Born Lovely and really disliked it. It was like they took my Lovely and just added my most disliked notes to it. So I was hesitant to try Lovely You, I didn’t want to ruin the original scent for me. But I finally tested Lovely You only on paper at Kohl’s. I literally did not smell a single thing. I did have a face covering on, but I was testing and smelling other scents and could smell everything else. I lifted the bottom of my face covering very slightly away from my face for just a moment and still smelled literally nothing. Could I be anosmic to this? Does anybody else find this to be very weak or they can’t smell it? Maybe a bad tester bottle? The reviews for this are so nice, I really want to be able to smell it!

Lovely You is a sweet, powdery, white musk perfume. I think what makes it different from some others is that the benzoin comes through quite strongly, it's very sweetly floral with that candy thread of benzoin running prominently throughout the water lily and peony, and I believe that also makes it last better than some other white musks on the market. I kind of see the comparison to Chanel No. 5 and the like - it's similar to the far drydown of a more vintage aldehydic perfume. I like it, it gives me the same feelings as wearing Pillowtalk Poet by Pinrose. This kind of powdery musk sits well on my skin, very pleasant for me and everyone around me.

A very soft feminine scent that is good to wear any season, day or night. The name suits it, for it is a lovely floral, light musk scent that I can get whiffs of but sits close to your skin to start . Then I love how 30 minutes later it develops into a new floral boutique that grows bolder with a touch of a soft powdery, musk scent. The powder scent is not like talc powder it is creamy and soft. Everything about this perfume is lovely with all the floral notes which are soft yet inviting making this quite delicious ,a great date night perfume. Lasted most of the day for me before I added a extra spray, it really lives up to its name Lovely !!!

Top and middle notes are gone in a flash and then it's a straightforward musk and powder scent. A solid choice for a dailywear scent for the most creative accountant at the firm. I'd say it fits well with SJP's New York actress mom vibe, just know this is very much SJP and not Carrie Bradshaw. It's also completely gone in 4 hours.

It has the muted mimosa note present in the original Lovely with a aldehyde powder present in Chanel °5 edp. I actually love it. If you enjoy either, which I do, you might really enjoy Lovely You. For the price, $14 grey market? Yes, please 😁 Dry down is Musk and powder.

I shower before bed.... and then I shower myself in 'Lovely You'. Perfect soft, clean powdery scent. Not offensive, not overpowering. I use at night and use it for layering with other scents when I want to soften them.

Is nobody gonna talk about the pure rose in this perfume it’s a rose bomb...it’s only slightly musky to me it smells like a sheer version of agent provocator...light powdery rose with dna of the original lovely

This is literally mad poison by Katy Perry. It’s sweet baby powder. I like it though I’m not a fan of it.

I love this soft powdery musky fragrance, but sadly it lasts about 30 minutes before disappearing.

When I first smelled this perfume, it was Love at first sniff. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to last on me longer than about 15 minutes. I have both the body spray and the EDP. And neither one of them last even with layering. I really want this to be my signature fragrance I feel like this is the perfume I’ve been looking for all my life! That is how much I love the smell, but I can’t see having to reapply every 30 minutes! So so so disappointed. If anyone knows of another perfume that smells just like this, but with better longevity can you please list it??? I love wearing perfume but I am very new to the perfume game so I don’t know a lot About the different fragrances out there I would really appreciate some help. As far as this fragrance here, if you can get it to stay on your skin I would highly recommend it to anyone it is absolutely beautiful, powdery floral a little musk... And everything done in just the right way.

Blind bought a full bottle of this secondhand for just a few dollars. Takes a good twenty minutes or so to stop smelling like nail polish remover. After that, it's pure baby powder. Like, it literally makes me think of a nursery. Also brings to mind memories of my grandmother's bathroom cabinet. Definitely not my cup of tea, generally speaking, but I'll experiment with layering. And who knows, maybe a day will come soon when I want to feel like a little baby being carried in my grandmother's arms.

Too sweet and too powdery. Okay for bed with flannel for that nice warm feel, but not worth wearing otherwise. I hate smelling like baby powder, and find thrift clothes so nasty when you can't wash that smell out I throw them away. A note for those ladies that use scent instead of taking a shower. Perfume isn't there to cover body odor, it's to enhance your "clean" natural scent. That is art, that is sexy and that is less is more...

I really love this scent. It's so feminine and truely a soft powdery musk with lots of character. However, it's gone in a minute. It's not even a skin scent unless you are feeding it to your skin and it completely consumes it. I'm sad for the longevity and of course it goes nowhere as far as anyone else smelling it. I likely won't repurchase unless I can find a way to get it to linger a bit.

This perfume smells very nice to me. It smells soft and comforting, slightly soapy. I'm a teen and to me this smells EXACTLY like my grandma. Not in a bad way--it's comforting but definitely not anything I'd wear other than to feel nostalgic and cozy. I couldn't see myself going out with friends or on date night in this, it reminds me too much of her.

This is just a very soft powdery musk on me, with no staying power at all. So it's now just something I put on after my evening shower before bed. I won't be buying it again when it runs out.

I cant wait to try this, not available yet in the UK but I think this could be my sort of perfume. Hoping someone may know when its coming to the UK

A white musk that smells like adult baby powder

This definitely conjures up the image of the SATC ladies walking into a chic nail salon in a high end mall where there are glass elevators, and designer stores galore. I get from the first spray the smell of a lovely acetone nail polish remover, that then mingles with the smell of a vintage makeup compact/lipstick. It’s synthetic, there’s aldehydes, but also the powdery florals add an extra touch of class and maturity to this. The powdery-ness lingers in the dry down, and settles with musk to become something comforting, something you’ve smelled before. It was released in 2020, but you could’ve sworn you’ve smelled this in 2005! All in all, it’s a slightly vintage feeling musky floral, that’s somehow heavy but airy at the same time. I definitely see this as something a primped and polished woman in their 50’s could pull off as a signature. The bottle is stunning and reflects the juice inside - I imagine getting nails done in that colour with the glittery touch. Lasts for about two hours until you can barely smell anything but the faint dry down. Good scent for the transitional seasons. 4-5 sprays and it will be noticed and appreciated!

I usually enjoy SJP fragrances. I adore Covet and NYC Crush is great. This one's a real disappointment. To my nose, Lovely You is a screechy-yet-powdery, sour-yet-sickly-sweet, mess that can't decide what it's trying to be. It attempts a nod in the direction of classic powders and aldehydes (L'Aimant and No5) but gets lost along the way. Instant headache inducer. To be balanced about it, my initial sniff of this took me somewhere nostalgic, melancholic and poignant. I *love* fragrances that create that feeling. Problem here is that the sensation instantly vanishes, replaced with a screechy mess of confusion.

I tried this today and my first thought was that it smells just like Jovan Musk, I had a chuckle when I saw others on here thought so too. I’m surprised to read about poor longevity though. I came home and smelled it for hours, scrubbed my arm, applied new perfume, went to dinner and then to bed and as I was laying in bed I had to go scrub again because it was STILL THERE!

My grandma bought me this perfume and said it is something she would wear (which is I think where the problem lies)... it is old-fashioned and musky; something I would quite frankly wince at if I smelt on someone walking past me. In my opinion, on the skin, it smells like that awful aroma in those eccentric crystal shops, with hints of public-bathroom soap bars. Definitely do not recommend buying if you are young... perhaps the older generation would like these more pungent, floral scents. :)

Mirroring another review it smells like white musk from the body shop... boring and slightly annoying. Very sharp at the first spray.

My grandfather's shaving foam had this smell. I thought it would be a more feminine smell, but I was disappointed.

It's just straight up baby powder on an unsettling musky base. I can't stand how it smells. At least it's mild

Im very curious to see what Jovan white musk smells like on me as everything I try these days seem to be compared to it and nothing I have smells the same. So if anyone has a decant for me in the UK hit me up I will swap for something good! And about this one: it's not bad. Definitely fits the genre im into nowadays (musky clean.) But it's not one I'd buy, there is no "fresh linen" feel, if anything this smells of faint pez candies or fizzy candies. Very faint, more on the sweet side than floral but because it's "musked up" (or, watered down) it's very light. I prefer musks that have some more oomph to them and not just whatever they are selling + a tonne of water which is what this seems to be. It's not a bad scent, it's light enough, sweet enough, nondescript floral (ish) but also a touch synthetic and just a bit meh to me. I know, I'm used to the world when it comes to perfumes. Drydown a bit more powdery but this one missed the mark all in all when it comes to musks, there are simply too many amazing (and often budget friendly) musks out there!

This is sooo powdery! I really love the body shop white musk and was hoping it was similar but this is a musky powdery bomb.... It really doesn’t smell like white musk to me. This smells like baby powder and musk nothing else comes through. I wouldn’t mind this combo normally but the powder smells so dated like the bottom of one of my grandmothers handbags. It’s a very strange fragrance to me don’t think I would enjoy wearing it myself but anyone into makeup powder smells from years ago would love this.

The original scent in this line is the OG boss scent. There others are a bit wimpy but still nice. I will retest this on my skin as I have other scents on ans they might be overcrowding this one, so far though I get zero from it. Not even the heavy powder some report of. Zip. Very good value this line though - if you can detect the smell. $12 for a 30ml nzd.
