Gotta be the first one to review this scent though I know I’m not the first to test it since a sample made its way to me through the indie sample box. It was one of those moments where I’m scooping out the remaining samples that are random and don’t belong to any other set or house that interested me, so had the host not told me to keep it longer this would’ve made it’s way out on Saturday with never being tested. This is one of those moments where you look at a notes list and chuckle to yourself in mental preparation for disaster. Some of the most horrifying scents I’ve ever tried contained the notes of “pea” and “oud”, and none of them together so what type of vile torture was I subjecting myself to? But this is my reminder of why we always try anything with an open mind, if only just one time, and in some cases with some micellar water and a wash cloth near by. There was no need for scrubbing this one away, for it was a pleasant delight. This is a green perfume at its core, but it’s well blended and contains all sorts of scent families. It’s like a food that stimulates all four quadrants of your taste buds, but this fragrance did that do me. It’s green, sweet, slightly fresh and fruity but then with some woods underlying. This is what I imagine a child’s imagery of a forest that fairies live in imagined into a scent. Braiding flower crowns into hair, dancing on soft grass and using old tree trunks as a drum. Picking dandelions and eating a plum that you packed from home on your way to trek into the forest. It’s the olfactive embodiment of child hood wonder, a breath of Spring after a dreary winter, and a hidden treasure to unfold. If I were a hobbit of the fragrance world I’d tuck this decant away like a little precious, but I was so fortunate to smell it because of someone else’s generosity, so it is only right that I pass it on to someone so they can experience the same joy that I did when I worked up the courage to sniff it a minute after spraying. I will for sure be looking at this fragrance house to purchase this fragrance expeditiously. If nothing else because fictional worlds and imageries aside, winter is truly coming. I could see this being a scented armor of optimism to ward off seasonal depression. A glimmer of hope that Spring is right around the corner and mentally, only a spray of this fragrance away.
