Oud in Acacia

To love someone is to consider them fully. You notice their warmth and softness, but also every irregularity, depth, and hidden crevice of their character. You do not love them despite those complexities; you understand how each one contributes to the whole. Oud in Acacia feels like that kind of consideration. Every note, accord, oil, and process appears to have been chosen not merely for its own beauty, but for what it can bring out in everything around it. This fragrance reminds me of love. This is the epitome of what Scents of Wood represents as a house: the careful rounding of a fragrance through both its materials and its barrel-aging process. Every edge feels softened, every contrast reconciled. The result doe snot feel assembled so much as deeply considered in how it can complement the other. This experience; the softness in how the notes comingle with one another, feels incredibly romantic. The experience is less reminiscent of an olfactory memory than it is evocative of a feeling; an emotion. The opening is sweet, floral, and immediately enveloping. Orange flower touched with rum creates a warm, glazed brightness, while rose adds richness without becoming syrupy. These notes could easily have overwhelmed the composition, but they are carefully restrained. Their purpose is not to cover the oud, but to illuminate it. The oud beneath them is deep and resinous, yet polished rather than animalic or aggressive. It gives the fragrance gravity without weighing it down. The supporting materials are where that sense of care becomes most apparent. Immortelle contributes a golden, honeyed warmth reminiscent of maple, dried hay, and sweet tobacco. Orris and carrot heart introduce a soft, rooty earthiness - perhaps slightly powdery, like dry soil clinging to the roots of a flower. They keep the sweetness from becoming edible or sticky, grounding the brighter notes without dimming them. Amberwood and Virginia cedar provide a radiant wooden structure, while vanilla smooths the composition without turning it into a conventional vanilla fragrance. Each element appears to understand its role. Nothing competes for attention; each note deepens, steadies, or illuminates another. That same consideration extends beyond the formula itself. Scents of Wood ages its organic sugar-cane alcohol in wooden barrels, and Oud in Acacia uses alcohol aged in acacia. The house describes acacia as imparting a delicate, creamy vanilla quality while preserving the depth of the other materials. Whether I could identify that process blindly is almost beside the point. Its effect feels evident in the composition: the darker materials seem polished rather than diluted, and the sweeter notes feel integrated rather than layered on top. The fragrance is rounded at every edge, as though time and wood have taught its contrasting elements how to coexist. The best analogy I can offer is a dark, wood-paneled room illuminated by late-afternoon sunlight. The furniture is heavy, the wood is old, and dried roses sit beside well-worn books - but the windows are open. Golden light pours through them, catching the dust in the air, while flowers from the garden send their scent into the room. Every part of the scene has been considered: the weight of the wood, the warmth of the light, the age of the room, and the freshness entering through the windows. None of those qualities would feel as beautiful without the others. That is what Oud in Acacia accomplishes: darkness without murkiness, richness without weight, and sweetness without excess. It is sweet, dark, woody, and floral, but not in the way Ombre Nomade feels. Where that style of rose and oud can seem blackened, smoky, and imposing, Oud in Acacia feels amber-lit. It possesses comparable depth, but there is air circulating through it. The florals do not sit above the oud; they shine through it like light passing through stained glass. Its performance is similarly measured. It leaves a deep, noticeable trail without occupying the entire room. The projection has presence rather than aggression, and it lasts for hours while becoming smoother, sweeter, and more intimate on the skin. It wears elegantly in that it may invite itself to be appreciated, but does not necessarily demand attention. I have found that it becomes more beautiful in warm weather, when the florals open and the air seems to move more freely through its darker materials. Yves Cassar has created something that truly feels loved. I cannot describe it differently. It smells like what love feels to me: it does not force you to admire its individual parts, it asks you to experience how beautifully they have been understood.

The accords listed here doesn't smell anything like the fragrance. It doesn't do it justice. I got into this house after my first experience with Plum in Cognac. This is Oud done well. I have no idea how to describe it. This was a blind buy and boy it doesn't disappoint. It smells boozy oud with honey/rose in the background. Scent of Woods has done something that's incredible and as I have mentioned in my review in Plum in Cognac. They have such an interesting take on fragrances, this smells like NOTHING I have ever smelled before. It projects like a beast. Sillage is amazing. It last for so LONG! I love this house!

This perfume is stunning. While I love many of the unique perfumes that Scents of Wood offers, this is the one I wear the most. Whenever I put it on I feel like Queen Esther - it has a spice to the floral which is rich and ancient, and nothing like I've ever smelled in another perfume. The sillage is good, arms length and sometimes a bit more, and it easily lasts through the day and into the night. It also has good variation, as different notes will feature throughout the day as they intermix. I love it from first spray to the dry down.

Wow wow wow this is pure sexiness. To my nose this leans very masculine, but not in a spicy fresh sort of way, in a sweet dark gentleman sort of way. This smells like an agarwood branch soaked in whisky, and then flambéed to kill the harshness. It smells woody and sweet and boozy - not sure why the booze note, perhaps the vanilla and rose combination. Whatever it is, I am in love. I might love it enough to not care that it leans masc and wear it anyway.

i love thisssss scent. scents of wood is becoming a fave!! so sexy, woody, boozy, a solid punch of rose and other elegant florals. it does radiate pretty decently but at the same time isn't overly pungent- i don't get sick of it throughout the day! i think this would be best for a nice candlelit dinner or a special event, but you can also wear this day-to-day and feel like a barrel-aged sexy woodland goddess. it's a hit for sure.

This is just phenomenally blended. My only criticism is the fact that it doesn’t feel as rich in oil as the price tag..but the smell is just truly intoxicating, very very pleasant oud nothing anyone will be offended by and has a dark tasty sweetness to it almost chocolate and vanilla but not exactly...it’s warm and woody. Beautiful bottle that is customizable and amazing juice.

I like this, I don't love it. There are better rose and immortalle combos and I own them but this is nice. Tart yet jammy rose, slight immortalle, very woody. Reminds me a bit of Miller Harris Scherzo w/ out all the fresh spiciness. Smelled this before. Nothing groundbreaking and not worth the price. I will give the sample to my husband, unisex and I think he will enjoy this one as he did Scherzo. I also get the reference to calligraphy rose which I own but calligraphy rose is way better. Edit I have to downgrade this to a meh. The amberwoods overpowered everything. Like roses in vanilla coke.

I can’t make my mind up about this one. Such a great scent! But At times I feel that it’s almost sickening sweet. I looovvveee the dry down. I’d be open to seeing how this smells on someone else, it could just be that it doesn’t mix well with my skin.

To me this smells like a concert hall for the arts. Carpet, wood, cotton fabrics, brass and elastic strings all echo their soul onto your seat as the listener. The oud in here is fruity-sandalwood stick( Phillip b hair care “oud” line, Ormonde Jayne Xandria, bvlgari au the noir intense). I hold an penchant for old book/ library type scents and this may just start another shelf focused on the theater - it feels so cozy and distinguished 🥰

My first impression with this fragrance was lemon cake. It's very sweet with a cedar undertone and I do get a hint of carrot. Close to the skin and delicate. Lasted about 3 hours. Not one that I would choose to use.

This smells like something Geza Schon would make for Ormonde Jayne. It is very molecular and airy in nature. Not at all what I was expecting, but at the same time I cannot complain because the fragrance is masterfully crafted. Much more of a rose scent than an oud scent

Very oudy ! I thought maybe the vanilla and rose would tone down the oud ... but it didn’t I SOMETIMES like oud , but this is very bitter. Not my cup of tea. This is very mature
