Oud in Bourbon

This is utterly delicious. The perfect cozy non-dessert-gourmand, (just edible ENOUGH? But without being sweet), and straight down the center for being unisex. The opening is a chocolatey coffee accord - as in black coffee beans, almost with a hint of caramel. There is a LOT of depth to this scent, it isn’t as screechy and a screamy as Kilian black phantom, which is the only fragrance I’ve come across with a similar vibe. As it dries down, I get a leather/wood backdrop that isn’t listed in the note pyramid, and that’s where this scent lingers at a low hum. Has a mildly leather jacket feel to it, as is often described in leather based perfume reviews, but never made sense until I sniffed that myself, but then it was undeniable. The scents I’ve sampled from this house are a work of art - is this wearable for every day and every occasion? No. It’s a bit of a novelty. But absolutely something I needed to own. (They sell 10ml travel scents from this house that are under 50$, as a PSA!)

I truely love this and its gone up to one of my top 10 of all time. The coffee chocolate is so realistic and the addition of boozy notes makers it irresistible. I don't detect much Out in this, maybe giving a more rounded and rich scent. Wearing this scent is a beautiful experience. Of all the Scent of Wood offerings, this was the best for me. I also liked Oud in Calvados which everyone seems to love which is good but the longevity is not great. Our in Bourbon last at least 7-8 hours on my skin and I have received lots of compliments at work. Its great for fall and winter, mostly a night out but I do wear it at work.

Stunning. Long lasting. I couldn't keep my nose off my wrist. I have a 10ml bottle with my name on it waiting for delivery to my shop. I took a sample of the Plum in Cognac as that is the one I thought I would love. Surprisingly I liked Oud in Bourbon better. Nice it comes in a 10 m bottle as I don't "need" more fragrance and trying to cut back a bit to use up stuff I loved and purchased and not be a "serial tester".

An apple cider doughnut in an antique wooden coffee shop. This took several wears to understand. It’s very layered and non-linear. When smelling close, I primarily get the wood, oud, and coffee notes. The sillage is sweeter and more vanillic. I know it’s not listed, but I swear there’s an apple note in there, but more baked apple strudel over fresh apple. This is among my favorites from Scents of Wood.

This is good stuff. Not sure i get so much Oud. It is dark, resinous, and woody, so maybe it’s just a very approachable oud. Second favorite (that I’ve tried) in the line next to Plum in Cognac. Both have a dark/sweet/boozy/tobacco and dried fruits vibe, and both would be primarily fall/winter evening fragrances, but they are different enough to have both

I like it! As other reviewers have said, it's a bit confusing. At first I got the booze, maybe dried fruits, and warm spices (I really thought cinnamon or pepper). It also reminds of some "red tobacco" scents. I might be semi-nose-blind to the coffee since I drink so much of the real stuff. Edit: I can confirm that this juice is uniquely green colored.

The opening is pretty heavy on the spice. There's almost a cedar sharpness to it. That sharp spice recedes over the hours as it mellows out, but it never goes away. This can be good or bad depending on how you feel about it. The coffee, vanilla, and cacao smell truly wonderful, but they sit close to the skin. The spice continues to do most of the projecting while the superior notes require you to get in close to find them. This would be absolutely exquisite (nearly perfection!) if it just eased up on the spice and projected the earthier notes more. Or maybe it just smells extra spicy on my skin.

Thank goodness I calmed down and lost this sample for a while. As I was getting ready to buy a bottle of this; and wearing it today I think it’s nice. I like it. I’m definitely not going to buy a bottle though. Time to find that Plum in Cognac sample

Very smooth TF Oud Wood style oud, combined with some more boozy nuances. It’s really nice and well done but perhaps a bit unoriginal and too safe.

Oud in Bourbon opens with a boozy+food scent that invoked an interesting association for me. It brought to mind mom's from-scratch frosting she uses for chocolate cake. It's a delicious butter cream frosting with rum, chocolate and vanilla. The secret ingredient is some strong coffee which enhances the chocolate flavor but doesn't really reveal itself. Oud in Bourbon's coffee note is similar. I couldn't detect it but suspect it provides a subtle enhancement to the chocolate component. It also starts out quite sweet. As it dries down, the sweetness pulls back a bit and a woody bitterness appears which is most noticeable nose to skin instead of in the air. Once dried down, it wasn't too sweet for me and is overall a pleasant scent. However, it just didn't do it for me, especially for the price. Different aspects of it seemed to be captured in No Limit$, Tony Iommi Monkey Special and even Cuoium, all three of which I like better than Oud in Bourbon. Performance was good. Longevity was quite good - around 12 hours while projection was more moderate.

What I got from this was a rich, smoky tobacco, bright boozy apple, didn't smell oud. A smokier, woodier version of Angel's Share that might appeal to guys more than women. It's pleasant but not as nice as Angel's Share in my opinion, being that I'm a woman. Smell: 7 out of 10 Longevity: 8 out of 10 For reference, I'm female.

This begins with sweet chocolate and warm spices, like those you'd find in Christmas ale. Then there's a synthetic fruit note, like the cherry liquor syrup you would find inside a tiny chocolate bottle. As it dries I get more resin and dried fruit, punctuated with a slight sourness and bitterness that is reminiscent of Chinese medicine I was forced to drink as an herbal remedy for any number of childhood ailments. This smell turns my stomach and for this reason - it's a no from me. I also tried Plum in Cognac. With both of these fragrances my nose misses the warmth and booze and is overwhelmed by spices and harsh synthetic ghost notes - perhaps this house is just not for me. Be warned, I got this as a sample in a clear bottle and it is an unexpected grassy green color - I would spray this on skin only! Definitely avoid spraying on light fabrics.

Quite a few gourmand notes but this is not sweet. It's more of a dry fragrance. Oud is the note that sticks out the most but it's more on the woody than medicinal side. Light cacao and maybe a touch of resins and patchouli and that's it. Much more on the mature male side than unisex.

Scents of Wood Oud in Bourbon is an aptly named, boozy, spicy blend smelling of aged spices and resins in wood barrels, the prominent bourbon note, slightly sweetened with vanilla, contrasted significantly by a spicy blend of ginger, black pepper, star anise, geranium, vetiver, and woods. So there’s a sweet, boozy side, but this is much less gourmand-leaning that some of my other favorites of the line. The aged thoroughness of the liquid notes seems present, too. It presents itself as something authentically as representing something aged in barrels for some time, dense and rich, evolved and refined. It’s definitely among my favorites of the line and I’d recommend it, especially for cooler weather, though it’s perfectly pleasant as an indoor option year-round. Oud in Bourbon, like most fragrances in the line, performs excellently, and has the standard brand pricing of $240/38 for 75/10ml, sold by several great US boutiques including Perfumology. I continue to love the 10ml size as a long-term means of getting acquainted with a fragrance prior to committing to a full bottle. 8 out of 10

Smelling this I was really hoping for a bit more of a chocolate and coffee smell. But sadly that lighter than I was hoping and more apparent on paper than skin.. Strange I see a lot of other people talking about coffee and chocolate but I guess my nose just isnt picking it up over the other stuff. Again perhaps left over covid nose. Shrug... Honestly not saying its a clone but I will say my first impression of wearing this I was reminded of something like Tobacco oud, or sensei. Anyway not bad but not what I was expecting, and on my skin again I dont get the coffee and chocolate as much which I was kinda hoping for.. and instead im just instantly reminded of something like tobacco oud+sensei sorta combo. I suppose granted its been awhile and there are 3 different versions of sensei so maybe im lost after smelling so many scents throughout all these years but those are the first 2 fragrances that came to mind.

I don't get oud in this, but the coffee is pronounced and lovely, over a faintly resinous wood. There is, way way back, a hint of plastic, but that's most likely me and saffron once again arguing, and a hint of the screamy wood note that banes my existence rears it's head but fails to actually arrive, so in the end, I get a nice woody coffee scent with a gorgeous resin dry down. Nice!

Thank God for fragantica.. So at first sniff I was a bit put off puzzled as to what I was smelling.. But now reading the notes it all makes sense now.. The opening is fresh unground coffee beans with some light cacao heavy woody note along with what seems to be a incense/smokey/oud type note Sample before you buy I have a 2ml sample if anyone is interested in swap

I totally agree with @seekritdude review. There's no by any means cacao or coffee I'm getting. I think the notes here are very misleading it's instead a vanilla take on Tobacoo Oud in other words it's reminiscent of tobacco oud intense combined with black phantom and creed Delphinus.

Last time I wore this someone said that I smelled like i was so sick I was gonna die. Someone who was around me had actually called an ambulance but I had to cancel it because I am so broke from buying this terrible fragrance I can not afford healthcare.

This could be a Mugler for men fragrance when you first spray it. It has a prominent patchouli note. It’s not as beastly nor as sweet or gourmand as Mugler fragrances and has an added slight smokey fireplace note.

Chocolate bomb dark one mixed well the resins and other background notes However , this is a dark chocolate scent more than anything else It is a scent made of excellent quality materials of which I can sense
