Coney Island Baby

i was a little wary about sampling this because the burning plastic/rubber thing going on in eldo's fat electrician made me nauseous; but for mysterious chemistry reasons the industrial notes paired with a deep vanilla are DELICIOUS here. i wasn't even aware or had forgotten how much i like the scent of motor oil...a straight-up sensual note this smells like wanting to eat an oil slick, like pulling into the gas station at the beginning of an anticipated but inevitably bumpy roadtrip, like ripley in her underwear aboard the doomed nostromo, like the faint memory of hugging your truck-driver uncle in reno, nevada when you were six; he's now been dead for a long time. warm and cool, inviting and off-putting, sentimental and brutal--best suited for sensibilities that curve towards polarity. highly desirable in the way that only things laced with a little bit of personal pain can be. to my nose, by far the most interesting and distinct of the three SDW perfumes, a real achievement. wish they sold smaller bottles; i want it regardless

This is the most memory evoking of the trio for me. A trip to Disney World in mid summer. You’re waiting for the monorail with a Mickey shaped Ice cream half melted and dripping down your arm. You can smell the gears and tires as the tram pulls up to take you to magic Kingdom, Epcot, or the parking lot. You’re just a kid who’s going to hold on to these last disney moments till you can come back again. And then you’re all grown up, and this is your candy sweet perfume as it fills the air of the back seat of his car, he’s worked all day at the shop and you can still smell the leather and motor oil emanating from his clothes. You’re making out to The Stooges and you’re not sure why you know this is the last time you will see eachother. This is my Nonnas Coney Island where she was born and played as a kid. A sight of American splendor and pastime. Get your fortune read by Zoltar or ride the Cyclone if you dare. This is a damn beautiful thing, this fragrance.

Coney Island Baby is a rain puddle in a pot hole iridescent with oil slick. In the distance is the combined aroma of sugary, deep fried carnival offerings and the generator fumes from old ferris wheels and roller coasters. Everything in this feels cheap and dirty in the best way possible. It's sunset hot and smoggy. I feel like I should wash my hands after smelling it. I've been on a gasoline, synthetic, sweet, "weird" fragrance kick lately and this was a perfect addition to my collection. So evocative and realistic. That's 3 for 3 on the SDW collection. Very impressed and can't wait to see what's next. Edit: Nothing will be coming next lol. How hard is it to simply not spew vile hatred online? How hard is it to just be a normal decent person? Good fucking christ. How disappointing. Wouldn't have bought this shit if I'd known how gross this creators beliefs are.

I love this. It opens with a dose of petroleum and sticky sweet vanilla. The vanilla smells exactly like the soft-serve ice cream my local china buffet used to have. It's warm and industrial and delicious all the same. I asked my brother to smell it and he says it made him think of a blue sky. To me, it reminds me of "The Florida Project." The lavender-colored motel, the heat of the summer, children enjoying their innocent youths despite the not-so-best situations they're surrounded by. My only wish is that the rubber smell stayed until the end. All I get after an hour is the vanilla which I don't hate but can become cloying after a while. I'm gonna let it macerate and continue to test it out because it's a beautiful fragrance either way.

Like many others I *was* excited to try this perfume and I really did fall in love with the sample. I thought it was perfect for fall. It reminded me of walking around my local county fair with funnel cake and a gust of exhaust fumes blows by (I've always loved the smell of gas and motor oil). I would pair it with my Nemat amber oil and it was exactly the kind of signature scent I've been searching for. I was just waiting to get paid before buying the full sample and then of course *the news.* I will obviously not be supporting this person or giving them anymore of my money. It's just so beyond disappointing. If anyone has any recommendations for something similar to this.....please let me know.
