I Am King

Wow!! I love this stuff! This will definitely be one of my signature summer scents this year. This is one of the best fruity fragrances I've ever tried. The tangerine and cranberry together create an intoxicating tart & persistent fruity experience. I also love the fact that it stays pretty linear & holds those same intense fruity top notes all the way through the life of the scent. (I tend to love topnotes & scents that don't change too much in the dry down). The biggest complaint I've seen with I Am King is longevity. It's definitely not a super long-lasting scent, but I would say it's about average for a summer fragrance. (also, I have very dry skin & nothing lasts long on me, so I always spray my scents on my clothes. If you do that, then longevity is much better & you can hold those topnotes longer). Anyway, I definitely recommend I Am King for anyone looking for a unique, super fruity summer scent. It's one of my favorites (right up there with ADG, Cool Water, & Live Jazz), and even though it's pricey; this one is worth it to me. I can see why this won an award the year it was released. Good job Diddy!

Great berry opening with citruses with a very subtle aquatic note with very light woods in the background. Great refreshing warm weather scent. Longevity and sillage are not great. This would be good for intimate situations. I wear this in the hot Miami weather just to run quick errands or out to grab some lunch. Much better day and warm weather fragrance. Only last maybe 3-4 hours with decent projection for about an hour. I got this on clearance at Burlington for $13 a bottle and picked up a backup bottle at the same price. At this price or even around $20, this is a great pickup. This is by no means a must have or a banger, but its good for what i use it for. I find myself constantly sniffing this when i'm wearing it even though i'm not at all a celebrity fragrance person. Don't really have anything in my big collection that smells like this. I like it a lot which surprises me. Go trigger happy if you want it to last.

Ryanmmas26's review is spot on for this fragrance. And near word for word what I'd write. One of my all time favorites, absolutely unique and mouthwatering fragrance. Both quite sweet and a little tart from the cranberry. AMAZING smell that has acceptable longevity,(and actually pretty good longevity for a citrus dominate scent if sprayed on clothes)and pretty poor projection after the first hour or two max. Still, for the price this can be had for now and the amount of compliments it receives....it's a no brainer IMHO.(just spray more often!lol) Treat yourself and pick up a bottle of this lovely fragrance before it disappears forever!:) P.S.-I also owned E.C. Carte Blanche and it does indeed smell very close to I Am King. But even though it is supposed to be EDP strength, I didn't notice any significant improvement in longevity or projection. Plus the Sean John is a little richer smelling, so I say stick with it.

This is an AMAZING scent and ive smelled so many fragrances at this point so its hard to impress me right off the bat but this scent blew me away instantly... This to me is fresh,fruity,aromatic and at the same time its very creamy,delicious,slightly gourmandish and is borderline unisex.(WOMEN LOVE THIS tho) Its also weird that it smells very different from a lot of fragrances but its in no way,shape or form extremely unique. Its a great scent no doubt but performance is where its lacking. It projects great for the first hour but after that its pretty much a skin scent and only has about 2-5 hours longevity.Its really spotty. All in all id rate this a 7 out of 10 ! Id give this scent a 9 if it at least had 4-6hrs or more of longevity but unfortunatly it doesnt which is a shame for such a great scent that gets a lot of compliments. SIDENOTE: This would be a perfect cuddle scent or just for running errands

I originally purchase I Am King fragrance by Sean John on pure accident in 2008. I smelt Sean John Unforgivable on a friend and then I went to Dillards told them I was looking for this great new Sean John scent, the sales lady pulls this out sprays it and I liked it and bought it. I had that same bottle until September 2020 (stolen in home burglary). This was among the strongest fragrances I ever owned. I couldn’t handle spraying more than 2 or 3 sprays because it was cause me to sneeze. I got plenty of compliments anytime I’d wear. The only scent I got more compliments with between 08-12 was Fierce by A&F. I have considered adding this back to my collection I hope it hasn’t been reformulated.

I tried this one on at Sears. Then, when going to the Sephora next door, I tried on the Tom Ford Private Blend aquatic line ($200+ fragrances) and I ended up liking I Am King even more. I definitely enjoy this one. Fruity, tangy, that tangerine note really helps. A little bit of sweetness, but not too sweet. It's not the most natural smelling but far less synthetic than I expected. It's kind of like a Jardin/Amalfi type fragrance but within a $20-30 budget. Great value.

The most beautiful masculine citrus fragrance I know of––largely because of that genius note of cranberry, which also makes it so unique. Though the performance is poor, I don't actually mind because (1) poor performance is typical (hence, expected) of citrus fragrances and (2) I don't mind reapplying every few hours because it gives me another chance to smell it fresh on my skin again.

I don't know if its just me or what but I have no problem getting 8+ hours out of this cologne. It's also my favorite scent I have actually tried. I really want to give MI a shot once I get the cash for it. So until further notice this frat will be my sig scent because I love it and get compliments all over the place. More so than I did with ADG.

A blind buy after reading all the positive comments, and it's totally worth it. The notes are mostly my faves and they come together nicely! The opening is very bright but then tones down to mellow near-the-skin delight. A crisp, fresh, light scent for the summer days: A much much better replacement for CK One Summers in general.

This personally one of my fav scents but it def is the worst from a longevity point, if I spray three sprays on each arm,neck and clothes ill smell it after 8 hours. I would never pay retail for it but I don't mind for $25 which is well worth it to me.

smells like Hawaiian punch Kool Aid... my nose can't stop sniffing it. The cranberry is so fresh and sweet without being nauseating. I wish it had more longevity but it is cheap enough to reapply often.

Really nice summer scent. Got a 1.7 at Walmart for around $17.00 longevity is weak. 3 hours max on my skin. Very "close to skin" kind of scent. Worth the purchase if worn in intimate settings.

Ok, I hate P-Diddy and Rap. But i tried this fragrance at the store a few times now and must say it smells DIVINE! Might buy this when the prices come down a bit.

This scent, even in cold days stays minimum 8 hours on my skin. I really like it.

Hi friends, I wanted to treat myself because I accomplished some major goals and I dbl purchased kokorico and iamking just to get some balance ;). iamking is something I wore for a week when it first came out. I had one of those spray vial testers. At first wear, I thought "why, puffy, why?" It smells like I'm eating a Tangerine jolly rancher (from the blue bag). A week later, I was trying to mask the smell of smoke, and I put it on and pps were drawn to me and I started to enjoy it. Probably 4 compliments in 2 hrs and an extended hug ;) and ... I couldn't find it for cheap here in Toronto so I thought no point since Tangerines can get pretty tiresome to smell every day (on me, the fragrance is tangerine from opening, to mid, to base). Well I just found this, xyears later and 20$ for a 30ml (1oz). SURE, why the hell not? But at 30 yrs old now and in an office, I'm not sure if I want to smell like tangerines => alas, weekend wear for me. For me, I would buy/keep it over Rocawear 9 which is slightly bitter; bvlgari aqva which is more sour-seaweedy/watery; and givenchy play sport which is more musky; also clinique happy which is just less frag, and even Armani ADG, which I have always found makes me smell like pee...and l'eau d'issey which makes me smell like aunty. Right now, my citrus frags that I will keep in rotation are (in order of love) 1. versace homme (all year citrus) 2. farenheit aqua 3. hugo red + Gucci Guilty(winter citrus) 4. iamking 5. Play Sport It's decent, it's a skin scent, it's fresh. It's tangerines. I am happy with it, I think it'll be uplifting on sad days, for me and those around. But a small bottle will last me for years to come.

Surprisingly unique for a celebrity fragrance. I originally discovered I am king when my local k mart was going out of business. I bought it, fahrenheit by fior and gold by jay-z all for less than 10 bucks each bottle. Another surprise is gold by Jay z is also an excellent fragrance and Fahrenheit is a classic that stands well as each decade comes and passes. Back to the subject at hand, I am king, is simple, clean, and unique. It's definitely not a projection , or longevity beast, but when you can find a big bottle for less than 30 bucks, one can afford to over spray and reapply throughout the day. Super safe office scent, but is also great for a date night, first impressions, gym , casual, or formal occasions. If it's not considered a blue scent, it should be, because I feel you can wear it no matter the weather. I am king is great for beginners looking to add some class without breaking the bank. If you are deep in the fragrance game, I suggest you pass. With so many citrus fragrances available, I find myself passing over it for better preforming scents. But every once in awhile I find myself spraying it on just to wear it around the house

Simply because the scent is quite pleasant, I voted above with a "like." However...I rarely reach for this. Why? Performance is TERRIBLE. It's a nice, masculine, citrusy cologne that is perfect for scorching hot days. I also agree with a below reviewer who stated that this is VERY similar to the citrusy "Calvin Klein One Summer" fragrances. So yeah. This one may be a good fragrance to buy a 15 year old boy as a gift who doesn't necessarily need a niche fragrance or something to last all day. Scent Itself - 8/10 Projection - About 2 feet. Longevity - If you're super heavy handed with it and soak yourself...you can get 3...MAYBE 4 hours out of this one. But most likely 3 hours it'll be gone. Overall Score (considering performance) - 6.5/10 Unforgiveable is the best Sean John fragrance by far. This one would be a GREAT signature worthy fragrance for summer months if they could just make it actually last.

Setting the record straight. There is alot of people saying this is a creed SWM ripoff. I have both in front of me and its not. Perhaps it smells a bit similar on SWMs dry down but it does not smell like its attempting to be a copy. It smells like it in the sense that it wants to be a clean fresh scent. Not a smell to impress or be sexy but to just smell fresh out the shower clean. Its a great scent for $20. But its not something to apply at the house and expecting it to last going out. Its more like to keep in the car and do a couple of sprays to smell fresh before do whatever. Its simply good. not bad or extravagant. The spray only last like 20 minutes but I think thats good for cheap spray. Its good for work for example so there's no need to be self conscious about over doing it because it will evaporate.

First of all, i do not think a king would smell like this... lol... but it is a great scent. Its something new, modern, and classy. It is fruity but not too fruity. It holds up well on the masculine part. The top notes are a nice blend of mild citruses with a nice woody dry down. I do like how this isn't your typical or ordinary fragrance. It's such a relaxed scent that isn't overpowering or offensive. I would wear this for any occasion. I also agree on it smelling like Unforgivable but i wasnt very fond of Unforgivable. This is more smooth to my nose. The longtivity is outstanding. I'll spray it in the morning before work and a would still get nice breezes of it late in the evening.

This one starts with a really zesty sherbety blast, and to me is somewhat like pink grapefruit (even though that is not one of the listed notes). Most likely the combination of cranberry and the orange and lemon notes gives this effect. The initial citric sharpness passes, but the fruitiness lasts in a tamer manner throughout the life of the fragrance. There are woody notes in the background, but these are held in check by the citrus. I quite like the fragrance, but not enough to buy it.

To bad they're discontinuing all of Sean john fragrances cause their all nice I am king is a great scent its perfect for the summer humid weather I haven't had any longevity issues like others but I usually put on about 5 to 6 sprays its kind of strong for the first 40min to 1hour but then it settles down to a nice smooth clean fruity scent not a feminine fruity though its kind of like a KC reaction lacoste essential light airy scents very casual chill mode scent 8/10

I used to overspray to the max with this. It used to be my favorite summer scent for the Texas heat. So refreshing. A medley of citrus fruits combined with champagne. It is really nice. Unfortunately for some the dry down is literally just sandalwood. I like it as its simple and pleasant but can understand why some people dislike it. The fruits are still present here but only as a skin scent. This is something i feel would work with most peoples’ skin.

Opens with a fresh watery citrus, and quickly dries into a powdery scent, which must be the labdanum. Somewhat of a gender neutral scent, considering the floral powder that emerges. Fades into a subtle fruitiness, and does so very quickly. The open will not make it out of your bathroom/bedroom, and by the time you're out the door, you're well into the finish. Nice if you want a fruit cloud around you for a few minutes, but not a good daily scent.

It is a nice scent, Fresh, Fruity, Clean and Unique. I think that I Am King smells very enjoyable with affordable price. It opens up with fresh citrusy, fruity , green and marine notes in the background then dry down is soft spicy and woody. The Performance is less than Average, Longevity is Poor, l Am Weak ! Overall, I'm so happy that I have it in my collection as a new Brand and I really enjoy it. Rating : 7 / 10

I first smelled this at a dept. store. I thought it was a burst of grapefruit, fruity almost can pass as a perfume. years later I see a 1.7 bottle at marshals for 15 bucks. great smell but fades and disappears in the hour. Sad for such a good smelling cologne. Edit I wore this yesterday, only a few sprays on my neck. It lasted several hours. Definitely a must try for guys that like that sweet citrusy smell.

For what it is, it does a nice job. I am not a Celebrity Fragrance person but this one is enjoyable. Does not project on my skin very well and the longevity is up to 4 hours on a warm day. I enjoy the fruity/citrus-ness of this cologne and non-offensive. Possibly overpriced for the quality of the juice. 4/10 Overall

This fragrance smells so fresh, but the problem is that it lasts max 1,5 hour..If you use this perfume at 7 am, nobody noticed the smell at 9, barerly yourself..Because of that and because of sillage (I was able to notice only with nose touching the skin) "I am king" is not worth the money..

Smells great right out of the bottle - problem is I don't want to reapply every 20-30 minutes. This would be my favorite of all time if it had longevity and projection. I've gone through 2 bottles but won't be replacing it. The only celebrity scent for me right now is Power by 50 Cent.

I love the cranberry and orange notes but HATE the longevity and sillage. This is literally the only fragrance that I have tried that hasn't lasted or projected from my skin, it's a disappointment because it smells very good.

Lovely citrus opening - reminds me of grapefruit though that's not one of the listed notes. Drydown seems very similar to Polo Black and as everyone else has mentioned, longevity isn't great. Nice but nothing special.

I didn't realize colognes and perfumes were made for ethnic groups.In that case,this is also good for (ITALIAN AMERICANS).Actually,i think its for everyone.Don't be afraid to try, its a very nice choice!!!

I love the blast of berries and oranges in the top. Literally makes my mouth water. My go-to for sweltering summer days back in college.

I like it. Somewhat unique. Fruity and Citrus heavy scent. Great for summer day casual wear. Great for office. Can garner compliments.

Sean John I Am King is a scent I got because my then girlfriend liked the deodorant spray and the way it smelt on me. So I got the 1oz bottle based on my love of Unforgivable and Sean John. I got it towards the end of our relationship and it took me a while to go back to it for a review due to both seasonality and the relationship itself. I previously reviewed it and I like it less actually. Sean John I Am King has some similarities to my nose of Tommy Hilfiger Tommy. Just a more aquatic Tommy. Now, I hate to say it, but I really am not a fan of Tommy. This will likely not get me balloons, but Tommy to my nose is just too tart with the cranberry. While in I Am King, it is more along the lines of the cranberry in Polo Red. That said, I am King doesn't have the character Polo Red has as it goes on. I Am King has a really strong open. Cranberry and tangerine dominate the open with some slight orange breaking through. In the mid, I notice the sea water with a slight cassis note. The sea water makes this slightly aquatic. In the base, I mostly notice the musk like labdanum and some wood with Sandalwood being the strongest to my nose. The lemon, vetiver and oakmoss are not really in this fragrance. I Am King is just OK but limited in use and in performance. I Am King lasts about 4 hours on my skin with slightly moderate sillage for about one. I Am King is a casual and work scent for spring, summer and the warmer fall days and that's it. Date wise it may work if your S.O. like it similar to mine. That said, there is much better out there. I rate Sean John I Am King a 6 out of 10. It is nice but I find the scent is only OK, with not a great performer like other Sean John offerings. Hell, 3 AM which I found originally worse than this, but now I find is a much better option. I think it is a bit all over the place with trying to have a berry, aquatic, citric and Woody musky feel and it doesn't work. I'll only use this 1 oz bottle and be done with I Am King. I can see why this wasn't as popular as the other Sean John offerings and was the hardest for me to find (discontinued flankers not withstanding.)

I Am King begins with a very juicy fruity opening, like unwrapping a pack of Starburst candy. This is a very unique and intriguing fragrance. It's not overly sweet or juvenile in any way. Unfortunately, because of the low quality of the ingredients this fragrance falls flat after the first hour on skin. Performance leaves a lot to be desired, as well as the lackluster dry down compared to the nice opening. The note breakdown really makes this scent DNA interesting. I would be excited to try this scent profile in a luxury designer or niche-level offering. I believe with higher quality ingredients, this would be a very popular choice among fragrance enthusiasts.

I initially wrote this scent off as being linear. Berry-centric. Then i revisited and applied on warm skin. The dry down wood elements are surprisingly sophisticated in the way the lemon is savored. Usually a citrus note isn't hidden until the dry down starts, regardless of how its advertised. Now this isn't a 8 hour winter scent. Its more like a 3 hour activity scent in projection. The dry down is intimate for another 2 to 3 hours.

This fragrance has an insanely harsh citrus opening that is unbearable for me. Smells like disinfectant wipes. After 10-15 minutes the smell gets better, but the fragrance becomes significantly weaker. Very bad performance and I would only recommend if you are going to the gym for an hour and a half at maximum.

I love the way this smells. It does NOT project or last long. The first initial 15-30 min is lovely. It's cheap enough to spray all day. You want to keep this one with you.

when I got a whiff of i am king, i honestly did not know what to make of this fragrance because it seemed to smell flat and linear, and the smell was almost exclusively lemon with very little cranberry and other notes. As for the fruity notes, there is no zesty, juicy, succulent fruit it is just a flat citrus smell that really does not jump out at me in any way, and it smells lacking so I cannot give a positive review for this fact. In addition I see this is a total money grab because the test strip smells nice, but the basenotes are not as interessting and it ends up smelling very lacking and flat

Got this in the 1.7 oz and my girl at the time said it's just as good as ck one and acqua di gio. Ok I figured I own it now, let's try it. Well after about 10 seconds, all I could smell was a synthetic/detergent smell, the synthetic detergent would not go away, and 20 minutes later it was completely gone, Nada, nothing. Worse longevity ever. Not even worth 99 cents, this was a complete miss. Come on puffy, you can do much better than this.........

This is a frag that LIES to you. It smells AMAZINGLY fantastic the second you spray it, then it fades into a nothing..almost unpleasant smell. It does the exact opposite that what a frag is suppose to do. It fooled me into buying it. NO staying power, but the scent at first spay is heaven...for 2 seconds. After that...blech. If the scent would stay it would have been perfect. It goes from perfect to horrible in less than five minuets.

i was kinda disappointed in this one. i really enjoyed unforgivable and unforgivable black but this one just doesnt cut it. it smells like any other fruity aquatic mens fragrance. if anything its fruitier and can easily be wore by a women. its boring and has nothing special to it. the bottle is quite hideous as well. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! ushers ur is much much better!

KING? Are you joking? This one is a typical summer scent for 14-17 year old guys. It is sweet and fruity in the way of Clinique Happy - a splash of sugary oranges and tangerines. A pleasant fragrance, but not for such price (it smells cheap) and nor for such marketing. The longevity is below average.

Very weak, too close to the skin. No projection for me. Starts fruity, a lil citrusy but not bad, but doesnt really dry down, just fades away. ANDY the jumping shark was right, it doesn't offer anything really, I think its just connected to Diddy, so most people will want it regardless.

Weak feminine cheap smelling fragrance. I was not impressed with it I got the bottle for free and gave it away to a woman friend. Fragrance=4.5 Projection=6 Longevity=4

Another one from Sean John that I simply can't stand. As soon as I opened the box and sprayed this, I knew right then and there that I had to throw this away. And I'm not one for wasting money, but I honestly couldn't even imagine trying to give this away to somebody. Seems like my love affair with Sean John fragrances is a love/hate relationship. Original Sean John and Sean John Unforgivable 👍. This one and 3 AM 🤮

The scent itself is fine but the performance is non-existent so I threw it away. No point in keeping a scent in my collection that completely disappears and is not detectable in any way after 30 minutes.
