Do nosso caderno

La Fille de Berlin, or The Girl from Berlin, might, on the surface, sound romantic or cinematic. But it is widely believed the name alludes to a much darker moment in post-World War II Berlin, a period marred by social collapse and widespread violence against women in the aftermath of the city’s fall. I prefer to think the narrative is one of iconic Berlin femininity rather than historical atrocity, but it is still worth acknowledging the controversy that surrounded it at the time of its release. To describe this perfume as a colour, it would be the deepest, darkest lipstick red you can imagine. Perhaps an elegant dominatrix dressed entirely in black leather, her hair pulled back tightly into a bun, staring at you in a way that feels both intimidating and sexual. An initial overdose of sweetness so piercing it feels almost sharp, even metallic, set against a peppery geranium, the two pulling at each other as if in a struggle for control. They needn’t bother, as both are soon cast aside by a soft powder bringing a hush over the sharp edges. It happens so quickly, you’re left wondering if you imagined it. Where did she go? Oh, there she is. Now she’s holding a lit candle, tipping warm wax over your bare skin. It should feel hot, burning, but instead it’s cold and austere, and you find yourself calling out for more. No, you’re not in control here. She is. You’ll get more only if she wants you to. This is a beautifully dangerous woman, the kind you fall in love with, only to wake and find she’s already gone. There’s no note, just the memory of a lustful encounter seared into your mind, leaving you to wonder if it really happened at all, or if it was only just a dream.

Berlin. Thorny. Extremes. Notorious. Strong willed. Explosive. I have an image in my mind of a long black-haired woman with porcelain skin. She walks with an intense swagger, a wave of the hips that is far from natural but very intentional. She owns the room. Her long stiletto heels click, click, click. She’s wearing bright, glossy, red leather. She wants your attention and won’t take no for an answer. The introduction seems sweet enough. Maybe too sweet. Her smile a bit too big, a bit too cutesy, the handshake a bit too dainty. She’s got tricks up her sleeve; an ulterior motive. The jammy sweet rose accord is thick enough to cut with a knife, but it quickly starts to turn. It turns glossy, just like her rather portentious looking red leathers. There is an impenetrable sheen to the rose accord. The glint comes from a beautifully judged peppery green note whose fruity green waxiness laminates the rose. The lights start to dim as she takes you by the hand to lead you to some room, and the sheen turns sort of dark metallic like the dull glint of iron ore. The rose goes a bit dark mossy, before ending on a translucent buckwheat honey type note and musks that truly feels like you’re fumbling around in low light. Many describe Fille as gothic. This is correct, but this is real goth - the old school, slightly terrifying Berlin goth, not the laughable kind wearing all black baggy clothes, chains cheap enough to be broken by hand, chins down when they walk, and applying mascara to make it look like they were crying. This perfume needs a safe word, but I don’t think she wants to tell you what it is.

This is a peculiar rose perfume. It has an immediate metallic edge of something resembling menthol. It gives an icy, blood-like quality to the opening. I can smell ripe, juicy, dark berries on the vine, but due to the presence of the metallic note it comes off as medicinal, in a cherry cough drop kind of way. I can smell the thorny red rose, the greenery, as if it had been raining in the garden and now the sun has just appeared. Perhaps some geranium in there too. Once it has settled after around ten minutes or so, it becomes more like a honied rose, embedded in a light, barely-there musk. It’s a lot sweeter than I was expecting, not “mature” as such, and I wouldn't say it was elegant exactly. It’s also not a “realistic” rose to me, as some people are saying. It still has that icy edge from what I read as menthol, pepper, and geranium. After an hour or two, I find it to be quite agreeable. I have a feeling this scent could potentially grow on me, so I’m going to test it a few more times and perhaps edit this review. But right now, I like it, but I don’t love it. I like that it’s a fairly unobtrusive rose scent, enough so for daily or even professional wear. I don’t like that the metallic edge changes the character of what otherwise may be quite a naturalistic, slightly green jammy rose to have a medicinal edge which doesn’t quite meld into my skin like other fragrances. I will report back.

La Fille de Berlin is a dark, brooding rose wrapped in mystery—a flower draped in a velvet cloak, its beauty hidden in the shadows. The opening is deep and enigmatic, like a rose just out of reach, its petals steeped in darkness. But as the fragrance unfolds, the rose steps into the light, placed at the center of the room for all to see. Its green leaves emerge, vibrant and fresh, while sharp, blood-tipped thorns glisten in the air. There’s an edge to this scent, an almost metallic bite that runs through the greenness, yet it never loses its floral heart. The rose remains dominant, standing with an air of quiet defiance—elegant, feminine, yet unwavering in its strength. It is both sharp and warm, like an embrace that holds firm, unyielding yet deeply comforting. The name fits perfectly. La Fille de Berlin carries the spirit of German women during the war—resilient, enigmatic, and emotionally charged. She is a rose in full bloom, but her thorns serve as a reminder of history, of struggle, and of survival. She is beauty and strength intertwined, an embodiment of feminine power that refuses to be softened. In terms of projection, it is refined yet distinct, lingering at an arm’s length without overwhelming. The longevity is impressive, lasting around seven hours on my skin. Scent: 9/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 8/10

Gorgeous, honeyed, deep red roses with a patchouli note I can really get behind as it is not weedy or dirty. Along with the geranium it adds a lovely fresh and spicy aromatic greenness to this scent. The longer it wears on, it becomes a little soapy, mossy, uber feminine, and pillowy soft. Really lovely. It smells wonderful now. I think it will really shine in the fall. Edit - 8/25 This has become one of my favorite rose perfumes, (which is really saying something because I have a lot of rose perfumes), but I find it very changeable, depending on the weather. Sometimes, it smells like a honeyed roses; sometimes very dark and goth; sometimes very rosy and with a berry, jammy type sweetness; other times greener and a little sharp, almost like a rose chypre; sometimes like an expensive, fine milled rose soap; and my least favorite, sometimes very metallic, like what you would smell off a rusty nail or the iron in blood. I really should have remembered what season that was so that I could avoid it, but I believe it was in late winter. But today, it has been jammy and sweet and now if I smell where I sprayed this morning, like a fine rose soap. I really love this perfume, even though at times I may find it challenging. It really is a wonderful perfume.

As a chronic sampler who is hopelessly addicted to smelling new things, I always feel a strange sense of unease when I am about to spray one of my old favorites... what if my tastes changed and I don't love it anymore, what if I find once beloved fragrance to be suddenly mediocre at best? And every time I come back to one of my beloved SLs, I feel a sense of relief - yes, this is it, this is what made me fell in love with fragrances to begin with. La Fille De Berlin... without a doubt, my favorite rose perfume. Arguably the last SL perfume that can be called a masterpiece. I wore it again today after many months, and I swear, it gets better each time. There still is no rose on the market like the rose of La Fille De Berlin. Jammy, slightly metallic, sweet. Not sure what else to say... it is simply perfect. And to me it is and has always been a happy rose. I could never smell the tragedy, the resilience, the blood and the rest of what SL's obnoxious release notes promised... but I have always disliked his aesthetics and cringey AF marketing materials. But I always loved his perfumes, and this will never change.

One of my favorites from Serge Lutens. Today I have a privilege to compare the modern perfume (bottle with large black label) to an original from 2013, the first year it was released (smaller beige label). I am very happy to report that they are the same. Old juice is perhaps just a little bit stronger, but the scent is identical. This is definitely my favorite rose centered perfume, but it is not a soliflore. To my nose the geranium is also very pronounced. But the rose is definitely the star - a fresh young rose bouquet, certainly deep blood red, that was just brought inside from cold. Sweet, amazingly natural, as close to the real flower as it gets in perfumery. To me this is a happy scent. I know it was not intended as such with all the initial controversial marketing, but to me it is, especially if comparing it to other SL's roses - morbid Rose de Nuit or serious and stern La Fille Tour De Fer. If you enjoy roses in your perfumes, this is a must have for you. You just have to experience it (here is me again, trying to get people on Serge Lutens train), especially since it is so affordable at discounters.

God this is gorgeous. Immediately I thought of Orpheus. It smells like self destructive devotion to a corpse. Tragic and cold and somehow raunchy. It reminds me of the scented prayer beads I had as a child, very heavy rose water smell but with something sharp and coppery just under. Like hanging onto an iron railing overlooking a lake in the dark, with the moss and the silence and the cold breeze and the knowledge that things could have been very different than they are now if you could go back just a day or at least an hour. I can’t imagine a situation that would call for this but I can’t imagine many that wouldn’t. It’s stark and distinctive but overall still pleasant and refined. Definitely a feminine tilt but it’s got an oud-adjacent smell that would be received as unmistakably masculine in other parts of the world. Too much of a rich narcotic quality to work as summer fragrance but genuinely beautiful and otherwise very wearable. Though it does sometimes bring to mind the smell of the afterbirth a stray cat left in my garage, for better or worse. Sexy rose-violet with hints of rust and papercut

You need 100ml of this. Nonnegotiable. You need the large, thin, rectangular bottle of dark wine red liquid that smells like a beautiful juicy rose, drying down to a mesmerizing, storied, dried rose, all across a background of mild spices and smooth liquid gold. You need it. You need to use the dab bottle option and splash that dark red wine on your wrist and marvel at the almost bloodiness of it. You need to put the atomizer on and mist yourself in this delicious, sexy fragrance, equal parts refreshing and mysterious, cloying and freeing. You need it. I don't know any Berliners, nor any Filles de Berlin. I don't know what any German would smell like, let alone an artsy one, or a techno fan, or whatever else is truer to Berlin than any other stereotype. I do know that you need this fragrance, because my coworker raved that it smelled like the virgin Mary, and my friend commented that it smells like a dominatrix, and my other friend said it smells like I was born in the 1930's, and my other friend said that it smells like a 2000's take on rose. Whatever. You need La Fille de Berlin.

This fragrance is so dramatic, and over the top it made me laugh. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I was searching for something like this: dramatic, unsettling, and dark af. This super concentrated rose just wafts and wafts in the most broody, dramatic, relentless way. Sure, it changes over time. The heart introduces a little greenery to it, making the scent more reminiscent of a dying rose bouquet, and the dry down offers up a hint of metallic something, making it smell somewhat like blood (the juice also has this deep red colour). But the hyperbole of the rose just permeates it. And it lingers for so long. Spreads so far, and kills every other less dramatic scent around. This smells like vampire from World of Darkness, probably a Toreador. It's so broody and dark and dramatic. And that metallic tinge makes it *so edgy*. It's very goth. Wear it to feel like a dark and romantic vampire princess. I give it 5/5 fangs for the relentless rose, and 3/5 black eyeliners for broody nature.

The first time I wore this, it didn't sit right with me. The rose was jammy and grandma-esque, and the spiciness felt like it was completely disconnected from the overall scent direction. However, as the time passed, it transformed, and boy, did it transform beautifully. Now this rose has become much lighter, but this lightness comes from the fact that its stem has been cast under a layer of metal. Perhaps this image is a trick of my consciousness, and the real picture is much more violent; this metallic aspect is the smell of blood. Regardless, the rose itself didn't lose its comforting aspect and is still quite feminine. That being said, despite this being a one hundred percent feminine fragrance, as a man, I enjoy wearing it. This scent is like my companion, surrounding me with comfort and melancholy care. If you try to describe it through feelings, then for me it is the smell of unhappy, unrealistic, and non-reciprocal but very romantic and therefore pleasant love...

Years ago I had a travel size of this one and I lost it... somehow I also forgot how much I actually loved this fragrance. I now own a big bottle so let's write a proper review. I don't really get the goth association or "dark" fragrance. To me this is quite a realistic rose, not sweet despite the honey note. I guess the honey just "softens" the composition in some ways. It is fresh and delicate. It smells like rose and geranium petals drowned into honey water. That's it. This is not an overly sweet girly rose fragrance and that's why it's so different. This is actually one of my most wearable perfume and I honestly cannot imagine how someone could dislike this scent on someone else. On my skin the longevity is not fantastic but in the hair this is fine. I also don't find this one to be unisex at all. Sorry guys to me this is a female fragrance. So this is it. An excellent perfume. Relatively simple but yet unmatched in my opinion :)

i’ve been trying to review this one for quite some time and i can’t find the words for it... i love it sooo much it was love at first sniff lowkey which was surprising as i hate most rosy perfumes but this is different its a jammy rose scent at first with a hint of something metallic in the background and then you get the honey which also adds a sweetness to it its so long lasting on me i literally sprayed myself a couple times in the morning and after a full day came back, took a shower, and i still would get whiffs of it on my body also !!! i always get compliments when i wear this like actually every single time i get at least one id recommend this to everyone omg at least get a sample if you’re undecided cause this changed my life.. i bought a smaller bottle when i first got it and after like a week i bought the full one cause i knew this was the one<3

a divine, jammy, seemingly 'simple' rose that is anything but. keeps me coming back for more! sometimes I get up from what I am doing in the middle of the day just to go smell my bottle. I feel this way about many lutens fragrances, they are addictive and la fille de berlin is no exception. I love the smell of real roses, and I rarely feel that any perfume captures them accurately. while I wouldn't call this a photorealistic rose, it is almost better - like the platonic, imagined ideal of a rose, but with something nostalgic that reminds me of my mom, my grandma, and all of the classy, chic women I've ever known. there's an odd green freshness to this that sets it apart. I love wearing this to bed. it is the ultimate nighttime, post-everything shower, wearing fresh pajamas fragrance to float you seamlessly into your dreams. completely full bottle worthy.

Brooding and dramatic, this syrupy rose perfume conjures up the image of a dark-haired, porcelain-skinned, red-lipped woman entering a theatre foyer. She's wearing a black sequinned dress, classic black heels and carries a dark velvet clutch. Beside her, a tall man in a midnight-blue dinner suit. They're wearing the same perfume, and it suits them equally. This is a supremely elegant, slightly austere and somewhat mysterious fragrance. Whoever wears it harbours secrets and enjoys the finer things in life, but not in a flashy, ostentatious way. Theirs is an old-school, cinematic glamour. Are they even real? It leans slightly feminine but is neither girly nor old lady-ish; a dapper man wears it well. It suits all seasons but is best worn at night — at the Sydney Opera House, La Scala, or better yet the Staatsoper. She is, after all, the girl from Berlin.

La Fille de Berlin or, ‘The Girl from Berlin’, is one of the most beautiful rose fragrances currently on the market in my humble opinion. However, it’s also a very simple scent - focusing entirely on the supple beauty of the rose flower, or a young girl of Berlin which you struggle to erase from your memory. The rose is bright and soapy, it epitomises the clean and sweet characteristics perfectly. It’s gorgeously clean and delicate, whilst remaining quite noticeably pulpy and stemmy. It doesn’t resemble the annoyingly cloying, jammy roses which you see quite often these days. It undeniably feels as though it was inspired by Guerlain’s Nahema, even if only loosely. A stunningly simplistic rose like this is a must have in everyone’s collection in my opinion, as a reference point of what a great rose scent is and can be, at the very least.

You know that feeling when you try a perfume and tell yourself... "I have no idea why it took me so long to buy this masterpiece"? That impression of finally finding a scent that will forever be part of your collection and could even become a signature scent. I am beyond excited! This perfume had been on my wishlist for 4 years because the note pyramid didn’t really speak to me at first, but after trying it... oh, wow! It reminds me of a mix between Amouage’s Lyric Woman, Tom Ford’s Noir de Noir, and Frederic Malle’s Rose Tonnerre. And on top of that, the price point, for a niche fragrance ... is excellent. Absolutely STUNNING. It’s a deep red rose with a touch of honey; dark, noble, and fragrant. Such a beautiful creation by Serge Lutens. I could wear this in summer, winter, day or night. I’ve fallen in love. This is a solid 10/10.

This perfume is excellent, but a lie. First, this rose is not from Berlin, dark, grungy, and hipster. It is from further East, from South East Europe. It's a rose of those grown in gardens and used by Balkan grandmas in small villages to make delicious rose jam, the one they use only special occasions. It also has that Eastern European wet organic scent - the wild honey, native oakmoss and familiar animalics. Which brings me to the second lie: the base notes. What makes this fragrance so great is the mix of a realistic jammy rose on top of a strong organic base, one with an important animalic component. The animalics are not present in the listed notes but most definitely there, for which I am grateful. All in all, a great, familiar rose.

Marjo’s grief turned to a fevered devotion. She could not let Viktor slip into oblivion. All she had left were the bouquet of red, velvety roses he’d given her, still lush with their heady scent, and the strange vial of his blood he’d gifted her with a whisper: “Forever.” In their Berlin mansion, she withdrew into solitude, driven by a desperate need to preserve his memory. Rain battered the windows as she crushed the roses with a delicate frenzy, their petals seeming to bleed with a crimson hue as their essence mingled with Viktor’s blood. From her fever dream, a perfume emerged—"La Fille de Berlin." Its dark, intoxicating scent wove roses with an enigmatic undertone, capturing a love that endures even through loss.

  • em inglês

Dark, juicy, jammy rose. Crucially, it smells modern. It isn't soapy or sour, it doesn't screech, and it most certainly does not tell you how it met your grandfather before the war. This is a rose to try if you don't like rose. The honey and patchouli are so well-blended that I think it's really only there to make this rose feel floaty, a bit sexy, and velvety soft. La Fille de Berlin is perfection for Fall. It's an easy reach, and a solid compliment-getter. If there's a problem with La Fille, it's that I can't smell it on myself after a few hours (but other people CAN. And from several feet away). Full-bottle and back-up bottle worthy. Excellent value for the money. I will always have it in my collection. 9.7/10
