Zellige Limited Edition: Fleurs d'Oranger

I got this! I love a Serge Lutens but a Ltd edition Serge Lutens? Even more so. I've been thinking about adding an orange blossom perfume to my collection for a long time. I love the smell of the Orange flower absolute material I have, but not even the best natural perfumes can capture it in a practical perfume format. This Serge Lutens comes pretty damn close but still retains the overly waxy, cleanliness of what I know to be an accord created with OB aroma chemicals. I actually think the best accord I've ever made is an orange blossom one, it's not great but it's okay. The curious thing about this is that the Orange blossom turns to a cumin like, dirty, sweaty smell for about an hour after application, and combined with the sweet white floracy it reminded me of old taxi seats, magic tree and slight BO smell...doesn't sound great huh? It is though. It's somehow cleaner and more inviting, beckoning you in like clean, 'earned' sweat.Anyway this goes away and it becomes a relentless, creamy, waxy, fatty orange blossom, which delicately applied is an absolute dream. I like the Zellige design, I'm such a philistine that I didn't even know what it was, well I knew what it was not what it was called. Anyway a brilliant addition to the collection. I'm happy.

I love this one. It's a warm, spicy take on a classic orange blossom fragrance. There is a somewhat divisive cumin note that many would describe as "sweaty", but personally I really love it here. To me, in addition to imparting some dynamic spice to the equation, it really enhances my vision of women collecting orange blossoms by the sea on a bright summer's day; their white linen dresses just barely dampened by their dewy perspiration. It is a raw, unfettered beauty that's both elegant and modest in the way that only nature is. Good stuff.

Gorgeous! This hits me bang in my favorite genre: Fresh Spicy.. Wow, heady white flowers, fresh citruses and neroli, and mild spices with floral, not animalic jasmine and kind of bruised blonde wood undertones, almost like maple or pine tree shavings. There is definitely depth and richness here. This cumin thing I was nervous about - fades right off me after 15 minutes. (sillage is strong, but lasting power is moderate) It's not boring. It's not synthetic. It's just a pure joy in these dark damp December days.

I love this one. To my nose this is overwhelmingly a jasmine fragrance. Three sprays is room filling projection with lingering sillage, this stuff sticks around. I get some noticeable tuberose, that note always comes through for me. And a little tartness from the hibiscus. To me, any orange blossom gets blown away by the strength of the jasmine. All the other notes are either too well blended in or too faint for me to notice them. If you’re looking for a long lasting jasmine “POWER!” then this is it.

This was an easy love for me. It is very sophisticated, but easy to wear at the same time. This projects and makes its way on top among other scents. It is the same jasmine as it is in the A La Nuit, but this is warmer on a more woody base, the other was more raw, cold, and screechy, more like a cold jasmine tea. Gorgeous!

I prefer this one to the OG Fleurs d'Oranger Serge Lutens since it doesn't have the cumin note. Still it's a very similar orange blossom supported by jasmine and tuberose. Beautiful!

I received my beautiful bottle today. I decided to buy it in this limited edition design even though I had a cheaper options to buy it in the normal design. This fragrance is not a typical freshy summer citrus flower scent. It is deep, not sweet and almost salty. I am not even sure whether is is for summer. Unisex.

This is a Christmas scent to me- the warm spicy orange reminds me of a cozy winter beverage.

I recommend ignoring the reviews here that mention cumin because they are not for the limited edition version of the fragrance, which has caraway and not cumin. Although the profiles are similar, they are not the same.
