Pure Black

I came across a bottle of Sergio Tacchini Pure Black at TJ Maxx. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it smelled. For $15, it is one of the nicer inexpensive fragrances I've bought in awhile.

Stumbled upon it yesterday at TK Maxx in Germany. Only €7. Didn't think twice. Mature warm classy lavender scent.

I like this fragrance because it has a very good barbershop-like scent with the dark, spice heavy opening. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s very situational. It’s really only good for winter nights. Very strong and nice for a cheap perfume.

Something about this made it stand out in terms of quality compared to the others on the discounter shelf. Something about it also made me not care for it, and return it after being overall unimpressed. It is very flat. Someone I gave to try, though, said there was something in it they didn't like, and they couldnt put a note on. I think it's the combination of absinthe and oak moss at a younger audience. Its a safe lavender, though... No its not close to le male, theres no mint no punchy minty freshness no slight spice!! Different DNA. The way this frag handles itself is different, a softly subtly sweet lavender with a bit of green to make it interesting. I ended up returning. Definitely not bad quality at the price, but definitely boring to me. It was fun at first though.

To me it smells like one million by paco rabanne for men, which I hate.

A fun cheapie -- the opening is very, very close to Le Male with notes of lavender, vanilla and tonka bean. Up close, it's not as rich and lacks the aromatic mint present in the JPG -- but it's still very enjoyable and in the air, you can barely tell the difference. I love the JPG but I don't really wanna smell like it all day like I did in my teens -- so the 'bad' longevity of this is actually to my advantage in this regard. Not every fragrance has to have all-day-performance to have a place in your collection and this is one of those scents.

This is very similar to the classic JPG Le Male, but with a spicier and sweeter opening that smells like there's some cardamom. Almost like LM with a bit of LM Le Parfum twist. It also doesn't have that dirty note found in LM, which is a good thing. Longevity and protection are shockingly good for the price. I have read people comparing this to Chanel Platinum Egoiste, I do not get the comparison at all. This was one of my more successful rack store $13 fragrance purchases.

Weird good for a bargain bin $15 dollar fragrance. Yes it smells like Le Male. No it doesn't smell like Platinum Egoiste, not really.
