Sicilian Limes

This is such a different fragrance than the name was leading me to expect, a very distinctively different scent. I quite like how unexpected this scent journey has been! In the first 10-15 minutes, I get a robust blast of limes and light woodsy notes. They are not bitter or sour surprisingly. I think the woodiness I smell off the top (linked with the limes) helps keep them out of the bitter range perhaps. After about 20-40 minutes, I get a strong smell of rosemary. It's very distinctive on my skin. This smell mixing with the still strong limes and cedar create an interesting smell. The smell moves from fresh to what others might be describing as slightly dirty. I would use the adjective "sticky" but not like a caramel sticky. I don't know if that makes sense. Anyway, it's been a couple hours... I smell cedar and--I want to get this out because it's really bothering me--I am smelling a sappy sweetness (think: Bond No 9 New Harlem but not so sickly sweet). It's conjuring the image of fresh cut conifers and their sappy, resinous quality. Is there immortelle in this...?? And now that we are 5 hours out, I now smell a masculine leaning cedar. It's back to clean and rather linear (not linear in a bad way). Either way this is definitely different. Overall, I love this. I don't know if this would do well on me in the hot summer heat, but this could definitely do well in fall and spring. If anything, I urge you to get a sample and test this. This is definitely not a fresh citrus scent. In the top it is but it is not how this perfume winds down. It's very atypical, and atypical (for me) in a good way.

Shay & Blue are such a surprise package with some really, really good fragrances expected to be linear but then have unexpected notes. This is a fragrance I would describe as being a citrus that could've been done by Amouage...well not quite but almost. You think mmmmm...Sicilian Limes nice... If the blood orange was anything to go by this is going to be zesty and accurate, and it is. The opening is sharp and does have a realistic lime feel but it's not quite in the league of something like Jade from Armani prive. The citrus is joined by a herbal note which works well with it and then a kind of cedary backdrop, no surprises there then. However that isn't the whole story because the main theme of this perfume is the early onset and progressive development of a curried cumin type note. This actually turns a bright zingy scent which appears all fun and games at first, into a pretty spicy affair. This works perfectly with the lime too, like lime pickle you serve with poppadoms or something? I can get why people wouldn't like this the drydown is very masculine and spicy in my opinion and also a bit sweaty like L'Artisan parfumeur Timbuktu. I liked it a long lasting citrus that dishes up more than I had bargained for.

Love this and blood oranges. Limey citrus that lasts and isn't sugary sweet or juvenile! Definitely unisex but not available on US site. The options that are available are cheaper on the UK site anyhow. Great warm-weather scent:)

A smoky/woody lime. Quite attractive. It's clean and masculine. It gives me the image of a well put together man. Impeccable hair, good clothes, spotless shoes. I'm happily surprised with this fragrance.

SHarp, bitter, fresh and yet warm and spicy and a bit dirty. I fail at describing this, but it's great, and lasts briliiantly.

Very nice citrus fragrance. Have some performance prolems but smells really nice and natural.

Herbaceous, slightly woody, made slightly brighter by blended lime. Masculine cologne. If you are looking for a lime dominant fragrance, this isn't it as a distinct lime note is not present. Curried cumin carries through

Exactly what it says on the bottle. LIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very potent on the spray, doesn't last long. Probably my favorite from Shay and Blue, but overall I find all their fragrances lacking in interest and longevity.

It smells fresh and limey, but no longevity on me at all. A pity. I like it.

The initial hit of this is exactly what I wanted it to be, a masculine lime burst that energises you. Teeters on the edge of kitchen cleaner scent, but stick with it... as it starts to settle and the more herbaceous notes reveal themselves there is a really nice marriage between the citrus and spice that adds depth to the scent that I wasn't expecting. Something happens after about 30 mins and this becomes almost unbearable to me, the woodiness overtakes and turns this into a curry like smell - not at all warm and complex but very sharp and offputting. A previous user compared it to lime pickle which is probably the most apt comparison I can think of. I was hoping that this scent would make me think of traipsing around an Italian coastline in the warm sun, not a Saturday night takeaway. Definitely not one for me or that I would really wish to smell on someone else.

Sicilian Limes was the Shay & Blue that I was convinced that I would love the most before I had even sampled it. I LOVE fresh, zesty scents. ... I was surprised! Being very honest, it smells like an Indian restaurant. A mix of citrus and a coriander like scent which reminds me of a jar of lime pickle mixed with other restaurant smells. I mentioned this to my partner after asking him to smell it too and he said he had thought exactly the same thing. Delicious... But not a scent I want to actually smell of, I'm afraid. Looking over the notes in this, I'm not sure why this has happened, but believe me - try it and and you will see! For zesty, juicy, citrus-y yumminess, try Blood Oranges, much preferable to this as a fragrance and has a beautiful, sexy and musky dry-down.

I bought this because Blood Oranges is one of my all time favourites. Unfortunately, on my skin the initial gorgeous burst of fresh limes descends within seconds into an intolerable scent of burning acrid salt unlike anything I have smelled before in a fragrance. The smell of burning salt is so strong to me that it gets in my throat and I have to wash it off. I will admit to being fascinated by the chemical reaction my skin and the scent produce, but to wear it for more than a minute makes me feel like I am on fire! Shay & Blue perfumes really seem to vary based on the skin of the wearer, in my experience, so I would not recommend blind purchases.

Another shay and blue fragrance that sounds like it would be right up my street but sadly is not. Nice enough spicy lime opening with a strong dose of cedar but very quickly smells like last nights curry or the lime pickle you get with a curry. As such it feels dirty to wear, like it's last nights dirty secrets surfacing and you haven't yet had a shower. Lots of people rave about Shay and Blue and even compare them to jo malone. I can't see it, with the exception of atropa belladonna, which I really quite like. I struggle with how strong and synthetic they all seem to be.

This has a very strong cumin note, which I dislike. If you want to smell like a curry-house lime pickle, this one is for you. I love lime pickle, just don't want to smell like it.

I thoroughly enjoy Shay & Blue scents...Scarlet Lily, Black Tulip and English Cherry Blossom being three that I wear regularly. I wanted to love Sicilian Limes....I enjoy citrus and I enjoy fresh...but just no. Within 10 mins my skin chemistry turned this to curry (MJ Daisy Intense did this too!!). Such a weird scent-sation. An initial burst of lovely lime and then the feeling of being in an Asian spice market. Not at all what I expected.

An okay fragrance. The notes detailed at the top are quite accurate but I would put citrus first and then wood. I would add cumin/curry to the notes as well as mentioned by another reviewer. Opens with straightforward fresh limes. The lime character remains strong through the dry down but transitions into more of the lime rind with some bitterness. The lime never really gets synthetic. (Which is a good thing). Cedar and pine in there but still lime forward. I can go with some sea saltiness. Maybe some newsprint too. Where it kinda goes off the rails for me is when the cumin/curry appears. It does start to have that east Indian restaurant thing happening, which I don't care for. (Like the food, get tired of the smell) A man or woman can wear this. The blend here is not as rich and complex as the rest of the S & B range.....Maybe it is just more straightforward. Reminds me a lot of Lalique White with more lime than the lemons in White. Also, the smell of the fruit is more authentic than White and doesn't leave me with a headache like Lalique after a day of wearing. For me it is just not a must buy. No wow here. Might get noticed by others but won't be like "I want to get that too." Good quality but the cumin thing and straight up lime just doesn't make for a knockout combination.

This is a very distinctive composition arranged upon ocean air. An excellent take on an 'Italian Coastline' fragrance with loads of bitter citrus: full-on lime in the opening. Slightly overripe in its first ten minutes, a musty complexity of citrus dries into resinous rosemary and cedar wood. A briny quality resonates throughout, but settles and dries on the skin like seawater. This would definitely be a go-to for late Spring and Summer, especially outdoorsy events where a soft breeze adds to projection. Sits close to the skin indoors after thirty minutes and longevity is not outstanding (my only critiques).

An initially fresh natural lime, which soon takes a turn for the worse.. I applied 6 heavy sprays 0 - 1 hours. 7 inch projection. The initial smell is fresh clear lime which is delicious but after 10 seconds of euphoria, comes a strong cumin curry, which utterly spoils this fragrance. 2- 3 hours - 3 inch projection. Linear 3 - 4 hours 2 inch projection. Becoming more masculine as the cumin curry starts to dominate 4- 7 hours. Close to skin This fragrance leaves me with questions... What causes that cumin curry note? The other is why spoil that lime? This fragrance needs to be discontinued Not for me

In search of a good lime fragrance (since lime is possibly my favourite aroma on earth), I was recommended this and ended up buying it from England. It actually sort of smells like lime pickle, due to the intense rosemary note in this. The opening is of a tart, sour lime, while the drydown really smells like lime pickle. It's a unique fragrance as far as citrus aromatics go as it isn't really fresh smelling. Performance is moderate (not horrible but not great). I ended up selling this ultimately because of the lime pickle association. 3.5/5

This is such an interesting, sour, savoury smell. I hate to say it, but it goes on almost exactly like Indian ime pickle, which I like but am rarely in the mood to smell like. Layer it with something soft and fruity though, and it's extraordinary. I don't know if it is fleeting or if it's easy to become anosmic to, though, because it is strong on first whiff but seems to melt away soon.

This is a simple fragrance, lime Italian cologne - very fresh and loud in a slightly synthetic way. I use it as a room freshener. I would not wear it on my skin or clothes.
