Zen Gold Elixir

I really wanted a rose and oudy perfume without buying one of the obvious choices from Lancome or a niche brand. This has been a great choice. It feels like this one has better quality ingredients. The perfume feels like it has a bit more oil in it. Nothing headache inducing. The very top note is a Turkish delight scent which dissipates quickly then it goes to a long mid-note which is floral, rose and cedar - all nicely balanced. Gentle. This is a sophisticated rose cedar fragrance. It's sort of the base to perfumes like La Nuit Tresor a la Folie and Hypnotic Poison EDP. Warm rose and woods, before all the extra notes in those perfumes. Not artificial or too perfumey. Doesn't stray into masculine territory, although I think plenty of men would be comfortable wearing it. It shares a similar DNA with Shiseido Zen original in the yellow cube, but this is exotic and warm whereas that one tries to be bright and fruity. Both are calming perfumes. This bottle also comes in a matching cube shape. The box though, is bigger, thicker cardboard and lux. Making it a nice gift. I knew this perfume would have to be a good offering if it's marketed to the Middle East and contains rose and woods. It's presently sold out at Harrolds department store in the UK.

I didn't want to be the first review on here but since no one else has done so yet; I guess I'll try. First off; this is a BIG love! This is rose (in full bloom and not your nose inside the petals) and incense but they go so well together! The sweetness from the honey is evident and there IS a woody back support but it mixes with the incense very well. I don't really get a "saffron" from this but there IS another floral (or two) that lingers in the background but never really interrupts the rose from doing it's thing. Neither the incense nor the rose overwhelm this fragrance which makes it a beautiful wearing on a fall afternoon. It also worked well in the summer for an evening out. I think it will be gorgeous for winter and spring and looking forward to trying it out at that time. A blind buy gone right for me but I don't think I'd recommend a BB to everyone.

Okay please get it before its too late since it was discontinued and its a limited edition !!! its cozy and warm and perfect for colder weathers , it has some oud vibes but there not really oud in there ,its labeled as women fragrance but actually i find it unisex ( plus most of us know this labeling is only for marketing ). This perfume is definitely a hidden gem.

It is a shame that this piece of art is overlooked by many. Smoky, woody, resinous, and sweet, but it was done with caution so it isn't overpowering or cloying. There is this slightly fresh and tart floral nuance floating around. What a gorgeous blend! It has very decent performance on me too. Unisex, right in the middle.

Love this! I worried that the honey would make it too sweet but it's not, really- it has sorta chamomile vibes at the base. It's intense in a good way, I think. Mysterious.

This is a bit strange fragrance, definitely not similar to anything else. Seems it was produced with the focus on the Middle Eastern consumers, but it does not have sufficient density to be truly similar to what Gulf people like: it is a bit too subtle. It is like if the Middle Eastern fragrance was adopted for test of consumers in Japan - very polite and fragile. Even the dirtiness from saffron is clean. It is like if a Botero Sculpure was made by Lalique. I think if Baccarat had to choose between existing fragrances, then it would pick one to be BR40. It has a glass feeling, probably from saffron as well. Otherwise it is very well blended and it is hard to say what ingredients are in. However rose here feels like a blue rose, very cold, even though it is covered in honey. Also, somehow it is a sad perfume, I am feeling almost crying when I sniff it.

Opens up berry/fruity for 15 seconds then turns into a smoky floral mix. The incense here smells a bit like myrrh & it definitely dominates the fragrance up front. Within a few minutes the florals fade & there is a VERY smoky ashy scent (almost like an ashtray actually). It then becomes a hybrid of leathery/burnt sweet plastic that lingers for a while (not my favourite part). It also reminds me of the smell of sweet wet tobacco. In about 30 minutes the drydown offers the actual rose that is laced in honey bbq cedar smoke. If I had to use 2 words to describe it, it would be "roasted flowers". The 1st half of this fragrance is a bit masculine while the final drydown leans feminine. Not exactly what I was expecting, but the drydown is alright (though a bit too sweet). Could pass as unisex & suitable for cooler weather.

A blind buy and no regrets. The dry down was giving me lapidus altimir vibes so I put that on my other hand. The cheapness of lapidus became massively apparent in comparison, almost floor cleaner and I like altamir a lot because it's like a butch Gaultier classique. Zen is juicy with something like pineapple and sultry, warm like smelling Angel from the other room. Bottle is GORGEOUS and heavy and looks like an ink pot from old times. It hangs in the air but you need to be close up for the full adventure. I understand why there is the Arabic writing on the box as it is very that territory but without resorting to Oud.

I am delighted. This is a gem. Smoky-honey rose. I have also one in the gold bottle - they have something in common. Black is more for autumn/winter. Gold is more for spring/summer. Both are original.
