Surf The Ginger Wave

Out of the bottle on paper, it smells like a typical pure bleu freshie. My heart sank ‘cuz I’m not a bleuser and it’s not cheap and there are no reviews yet. 40% off at BeautyLiv so this was a total blind buy for the upcoming summer. On skin, it opens with a creamy lemony freshness. Creaminess similar to that of Fico Nero. Lemon is more dominant than the ginger fresh accord (whatever that is). It is not ginger like you would expect given the name. House sea notes come in within 10 minutes making it salty fresh which is really nice and morphs the lemon into more of a mandarin profile. It’s soft and well rounded. Nothing piercing. Nothing loud. Unisex leaning slightly masculine. With 6 sprays, it is not a projection beast. Noticeable but sits fairly close while leaving an enjoyable scent in the air. Marketing references Moscow Mule & Vodka, but I don’t pick up any boozy qualities. It’s one of those “just wears clean and fresh” type of ozonic warm weather perfumes. The slight greenness in this reminds me of Tulum Junglescape - different scent completely but same underlying house vibes. If you like other SA perfumes, you will probably enjoy this.

My biggest disappointment this year. I'm a big fan of their cool fresh scents like Ocean of a Midnight Moon and Silver Marble. I was expecting this to be similar with potent ginger, mint and eucalyptus. Something a bit like Sospiro Vibrato. It's not. The top and mid notes fade in an hour and I'm left with a musky ambroxan bomb that smells remarkably similar to their Kite In Crystal Reef. I had such high hopes.
