Lilac Whisp

Definitely heavy on the 3 notes mentioned on the package. A very strong lavender forward incense almond (the kind of almond that pretty much reads as medicinal cherry). Don't hate it don't love it. Won't repurchase. Smells like a bundle of lavender incense (unburned as there is no smokey note) and you have a cap of cherry medicine sitting on the counter.

This is a great layering perfume. I usually layer this with my CLEAN fresh laundry & lavender perfume and it goes very well together. I really do like this perfume but the lasting power isn’t really there.

This is the first Skylar fragrance I’ve disliked. It’s powdery and bitter, and the vetiver is overpowering. There’s also little to no sweetness. Skylar can do so much better than this. When I first looked at the notes, I was expecting something similar to Hypnotic Poison with some lavender. It’s not close at all. The only similarity is bitter almond.

This smells like drugstore body lotion. And why is called lilac whisp when there’s no lilac in it? I usually like almond and tonka, but it makes it seem almost juvenile here. The patchouli is not pleasant, and it just amplifies a cheap lavender smell. It’s just a swing and miss all around.

I am genuinely surprised that no one else has mentioned this but as soon as I smelled Lilac Whisp I was reminded of something I loved but felt distant. Took me a day or two to realize what it was so similar to and then it hit me... Maison Marginal Replica Tea Escape!! Back in 2015 I had been eyeing getting a bottle from the Replica line and ended up going with Funfair Evening and later Flower Market but I always had a soft spot for Tea Escape and still regret not buying it to this day now that it has been discontinued and replaced with something totally different in the line. This smells SO similar to Tea Escape. I would say the main difference between the two is that Lilac Whisp is like the lavender cousin to Tea Escape. It's got the same exact vibe of being very zen and yet really cozy. If you loved Tea Escape by all means give this a shot, not the exact same but so incredibly similar that I'm so shocked no one else has mentioned it. It's interesting though because it doesn't appear to share any of the same notes, but goes to show that sometimes different notes composed in a specific way can give a very similar effect if done correctly. I'm not super big on Skylar fragrances but every now and then there's a hit with their scent club, this is it!

This is a lovely scent. I'm quite surprised there's a lot of notes listed here bc in the package it only says: lavender blossom, almond, and incense. The order is exactly what notes you smell from top to bottom, or beginning to end of the perfume's life on the skin. It's mild, powdery, and definitely inoffensive to the noses of other people. What I just don't like about this scent is that as someone who lives in a purely tropical country, it doesn't last that long during the daytime bc of the heat. It lasts much longer at nighttime though when it is colder. Its longevity on my skin is an average of 7 hours, with the 3 or 4 hour mark being when I stop smelling it on my skin as prominently as in the beginning of wearing it. From here, the scent slowly fades up to the 7 hour mark. I haven't worn this under intense heat and humidity, but based on its performance here at home which is of medium heat and humidity, I'm not confident in its lifespan when I have to be under the sun for a long time. I find that this is best layered with other scents tbh. It works wonderfully with Phlur Father Figure and LUSH Twilight Body Spray.

This is the first Skylar fragrance I have genuinely enjoyed as top tier in my collection. To me this captures the Southern France countryside, with pastel candy coated Jordan almonds, violets, incense from ancient cathedrals and chapels and promenading in fields of lavender in the sunshine. This is a scent I have been looking for but didn’t know existed. It will be a signature for me going forward. Lightly sweet more as dusted sugar instead of thick syrup sweetness, combined with Vetiver and incense that doesn’t overpower, but enough to transport me. What a vibe. <3 I can see layering this with Reminiscence Guimauve or dare I say, a touch of Bianco Latte.
