Meadow

This scent will always have a place in my heart. It was truly one of the first perfumes I ever had! It was given to me in college and my parents had thought it was very much “me”. I see where I developed my love for jasmine flowers because this scent really introduced me to them. This scent did make me feel I was in a dewy meadow of sweet white florals and roses. I had this bottle for such a long time but unfortunately as the years passed (like 5 years) the bottle became brassy and the jasmine smell became too sharp. It is such a shame this scent is discontinued. However I have recently fallen in love with Olene by Diptyque and this scent has a similar sweet jasmine in a garden type of feeling and profile. I recommend this one if you loved Meadow as well!

I don’t like florals. I especially don’t like white florals. I got this in a sample pack. I absolutely love it. It’s sweet, fresh, and young. They discontinued this before I knew and I’m stuck with the vanilla one I thought would be more up my alley. It is a good vanilla but... I want this one more

Sweet, light floral was discontinued July 2021. More than one spray caused a headache. Gave away.

I received this years ago in a Skylar sample pack. I wasn’t in love with any of the fragrances, but this one was among the few I found nice. Since then, my tastes have broadened, and I enjoy the occasional floral fragrance, especially white florals. When revisiting this set, I realized that Meadow reminds me of a lighter version of Flora Carnivora by Henry Rose—one of my favorites by the house. Meadow is a sweet and creamy white floral fragrance with that subtle grape undertone you sometimes get from tuberose—À la Aussie hairspray. I love it in FC, and it’s nice here as well. This is just light with a pretty short longevity. For those who miss this discontinued perfume, you should give Henry Rose’s Flora Carnivora a try. Like Skylar, it also creates non-toxic fragrances.

Meadow is the first Skylark perfume that I have found to be of interest. This is a bubblegum tuberose, super fleshy and rubbery. This is the perfume that has taught me what a bubblegum tuberose is - it's the first fragrance that has really isolated that note so that now I know what others are referring to. It really smells like the candy shell of a white piece of bubblegum. It is similar to some of the fragrances listed above, but not an exact match to anything else. I smell more linden in La Chasse aux Papillons, and sharper florals in Flower Market. This isn't sharp, it's fruity sweet - it doesn't smell real, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I feel this is the best of the Skylar scents. Not meadow-y though due to the prominent tuberose, which is clean and well blended. I mean, you would not find tuberose growing in a meadow, right? Unless you were very lucky, haha. This has the best staying power of the set too, which is notable since natural fragrances of course don't have the strength we perfume-obsessed people often want. A friend and I agree that this is sort of a baby Carnal Flower, which is saying something. An infant version though, considering the bigness of CF. There was a really good deal, so I bought a full bottle of this and Isle, which is a clean baby powder shampoo scent.

I got Meadow in the Skylar palette. It's a clean, linear floral whose notes are well balanced. The tuberose note (which I grew to like about two years ago) is well done in this fragrance. It's not overly strong and works really well with the jasmine and orange blossom notes which come through after a few minutes. There's nothing groundbreaking about Meadow (much like the other scents in the palette). Longevity and sillage are poor, so I can't justify paying that amount of money for a fragrance that doesn't last beyond an hour. I prefer to use these fragrances on their own, not layered. I have other clean fragrances that last well beyond eight hours. Given how light and inoffensive these fragrances are, they would be perfect for office wear or around those who are sensitive to perfume. I like Meadow but this is a one-and-done for me. I'm already done with the vial (since I had to respray throughout the day). Based on performance and price, I wouldn't purchase the full flanker.

The powdery rose nature of this scent reminded me of the sort of perfumes all my grandaunts (grandma's sisters) would wear at all our old family reunions. Not a bad scent, but rather one best suited for women of a certain age group.

Very linear gardenia, white floral type of scent. Not worth the money. If you want something very similar that is a lot cheaper try Gardenia/Peony from Paddywax. It is better than Meadow and cheaper.

This is a dislike review. First sniff opening the sample had a pleasant flowery scent; but on my skin, Skylar Meadow smells like a plastic object on a heating element, that melting plastic smell. There is a sweetness too; together its like the plastic wrapper of hard butterscotch candy is being heated up. It didn't give me a headache but it made my eyes hurt and oddly it made my nose run, a lot, the whole time I wore it! There was a sharp scent that I cannot identify, and a corroded aluminium white powder scent, but overall there is just the unrelenting warmed up plastic smell. I wore it for 11 hours before washing it off. (Sample from 2nd hand shop) 0/10

I happen to really like tuberose, so this isn't a bad scent to me. But it is so simplistic and linear, I have other things that have tuberose and jasmine that I enjoy much more because of they are more complex. What I can say positively about this fragrance is that they didn't let the jasmine overwhelm everything, which happens way to often, in my opinion, with scents that have jasmine notes. It smells nice, but I wouldn't spend the money on a full size. There are other tuberose/jasmines out there that are far more interesting.

I got this in the sample palette, and it wasn't for me. I just am not into overly floral scents. I did like some others from the set though so it wasn't a complete waste.

Skylar probably isn't doing itself any favors by touting themselves as a "natural" perfume company rather than, more accurately, a "clean" one. Clean brands tend to use more synthetics, not fewer, because naturals tend to be more allergenic. The main advantages of clean fragrances is that they are phthalate-free, less allergenic, and cruelty-free, so it's a valuable if often imprecisely used designation. As a clean line, Skylar is quite good. My gripe with many of these companies is that they tend to interpret "clean ingredients" as "clean, shower-fresh scents." Meadow is no different, really, but the advantage here is that it features a tamed version of tuberose and jasmine, which are two beautiful but quite dirty-smelling flowers. What I enjoy about Meadow is that it allows me to wear two of my favorite floral notes in a much more domesticated form that is broadly appealing and appropriate to most contexts. This is a version of a sexy Saturday night fragrance that has been tailored for the office, and there's room in my collection for that kind of a scent.

This one surprised me as it was the only scent out of the sampler of six that I found to be wearable and worthwhile. While I am really not a white floral girl, this one has a lovely freshness about it that left me wanting more. And, unlike the five other testers in the pack, Meadow actually had some staying power. Ironically, the only good scent in the pack was discontinued by Skylar and is no longer available for purchase that I could see. I believe their error here was in the naming and probable marketing of this scent. 'Meadow' does not at all fit or define what this scent is. It's basically a soliflore tuberose. 'Bouquet' would've been a more fitting name, or maybe 'Bridal Bouquet!' A missed opportunity for Skylar, which, based on that sample pack I bought and apart from Meadow, is turning out some seriously mediocre product. Also, this was marketed as unisex. To me it's extremely feminine - another possible flaw in the marketing strategy.

Rating: 9/10. Price: Unknown - discontinued. Longevity: 4-6 hrs. Sillage: Intimate. Opinions: This is the fragrance that introduced me to white florals! Before I sampled this, I was unaware of the difference between floral notes and white florals, and was therefore under the assumption that I hated any and all flowers in my fragrances. As dramatic as it may sound, smelling Meadow was a revelation. This is something a fairy would wear. It's light, it's creamy, it's youthful - forget the stereotype that white florals are for older women, Meadow is timeless. My heart was broken when I found out this was discontinued. I was able to snag a bottle secondhand, but I'm still on the hunt for an in-production white floral that matches Meadow's magic.

This is NOT natural. Skylar advertises as such nearly everywhere, but they are in fact mostly synthetic, as they do admit if you do a deep dive of their website. They just use the word "natural" as often as they can, and advertise on Google if you search "natural perfume", which is how I ended up ordering until I discovered the reality of the situation. (So technically they aren't falsely advertising, but they're right up against the line.) This perfume is Skylar's most interesting, has some depth. However there is a lingering sense of dirt (geosmin?) that wasn't blended in very well.

Like a much (much, much, very much) subdued Red door, with that starchy, ricey Jasmine dominating. I like the tuberose- it adds a comforting, milky aspect. Meadow is pretty and fleeting, inoffensive, a little basic but worth another wear.

It's a bit too powdery right out of the bottle on test paper but those notes die down once it's on my skin and it comes out pleasant. Not to stuffy/bouquet like, but soft and breezy.

I miss this so much. My most favorite perfume ever. :(
