Salt Air

Came back to give this another round of praise because it has become my safe haven, specifically during true violent throws of a hangover, ha! Ok so you know when you had A NIGHT, real “let the bodies hit the floor” type outing when by the time you make it home all you can really do is a quick swipe of a makeup wipe off before it’s curtains for you babe... and the next morning you wake up overheated (despite a/c blasting) and feeling gross and sticky... Well, for me the only move is a good shower, clean clothes, maybe a diet coke and a cry but I digress, spritz myself w this stunning clean, cold salty coastal air scent and i feel like a new, fresh, cool casual woman. When anything can trigger you while you’re in the throws of a true hellish nightmare, i can’t be smelling anything strong, floral, potent or sugary. This perfume is wonderful for that. Especially as the tiktokers coin “clean girl” aesthetic. It’s wonderful and crisp. Like perfect early morning air during a beach getaway. I just have to emphasize the fact that it doesn’t have bergamot or any citrus notes that would easily take it to a place of a spa or a man’s body spray is so crucial to it remaining photorealistic and not nauseating. It’s just perfect, salty, marine and mineral. If i could give one note to dear Skylar, its the whole longevity and sillage thing- needs improvement. Otherwise, perfection and my go to on days where i just need to feel cool and crisp and clean.

This review is from 2023 and Skylar changes these notes so the notes on this site are dated. The notes are currently as follows: Top notes: Italian Bergamot, Sea Salt, Seaweed Middle notes: Cotton Blossom, Water Lily, Cyclamen Base notes: Driftwood, Vanilla, Musk On me, the top note of sea salt reads very strongly and never fully goes away. The cotton blossom also reads not strongly on me, but it's the main heart note I can smell. It could be passed off as a laundry detergent smell but I needed to give it about an hour before I was in love with how it smelled. I hate gourmand smells. Anything sticky or sweet reminds me of sticky fingers in a halloween candy basket including, most of the time, vanilla which usually reads as the sickly sweet or stale on me but this vanilla is the most beautiful vanilla I have smelled in a perfume. I have only had it in the colder months so I'm so excited to wear it to where it truly wants to be, in the summer. I'm always looking for perfumes that don't smell like a perfume (if you know what I mean; they all kind of smell the same). This and By the Fire check those boxes. They just smell like the thing they are trying to replicate.

I didn’t like it when i first sprayed it, because I expected something more aquatic, marine, salty ocean air. But then i read the reviews and realized that if you smell it expecting fresh laundry then it’s pretty ok. It’s a skin scent, as in you have to actually stick your arm into your nose in order to smell it, so zero longevity or sillage. Overall, a disappointment for the price point, and a misnomer. Edit: okay okay it got me, i love it! It IS salt air, but one of the East Coast, a beach after the rain, in cooler weather. It’s one of the more photorealistic scents without leaning into men’s cologne or a spa scent. It’s fresh and marine and bright. It works beautifully on a hot summer day or a gloomy stormy June gloom. It’s now one of my top go-to’s, and if I don’t feel just salty, I’ll layer it with Boardwalk Delight for some sweetness.

To me, this is a very salty and intense scent on the first spray. Initially, it can come across as very strong against the nose - a very pungent almost alcoholic hand-sanitizer kinda smell on my skin at least. But that only lasts for a few seconds. It remains salty in the best way possible! It is very salty, light, and refreshing. I can smell the green coconut on the dry down. The woody notes are faint, but they are present and bring balance. I highly recommend this perfume to aquatic lovers who are tired of the overdone citrus summer kinda vibe. And I've been looking for something salty, aquatic, with a bit of a woody and green note. This perfume is not sunscreeny at all. Perfect for layering as well. 💙🌊

I am absolutely in love with this scent! Admittedly the longevity is not there but I think that’s to be expected with a sulfate and phalate free perfume? It’s a “clean” brand, and while I take marketing like that with a grain of salt I do appreciate that I can wear this around my sister who just recovered from cancer and is hypersensitive to perfumes with typical carcinogenic chemicals. Anyways the smell is absolutely intoxicating, like breathing in the skin of a lover in a beautiful beach villa- it’s intimate and warm and addictive. Can’t believe it’s not more popular!! I layer it with Skylars Capri summer if I wanna go a little more feminine and flirty for the summer.

I love aquatic fragrances, and I’m especially partial to more realistic less beachy scents. Skylar Salt Air is one of my favorites for sure. On my skin it’s very light and clean and I periodically catch the mineral/salt notes but they’re not overpowering. For some reason the coconut is most prominent when I wear this in the cold and more subtle when it’s hot but this may be a different experience depending on skin chemistry. I wouldn’t consider Salt Air a strong perfume – the silage is moderate to low and while I can smell it on myself throughout the day, I wouldn’t expect anyone else to casually comment on it.

I see a lot of negative reviews about this and I just don't get it. This is genuinely one of my favorite fresh perfumes (I'm usually into sweeter ones). This is a super clean aquatic scent that lasts all day on me. There is nothing fishy or funky that comes out on me thank goodness lol. I guess maybe try this before you buy it because I've seen enough bad reviews and apparently it doesn't work for some people. I have nothing but good things to say about it though!! It's one of my top 5 favs!

Does anyone here know if this has been discontinued in the big bottle? I've been checking the skylar website for MONTHS and it's not available. This is one of my favorite perfumes of all time and I'm starting to panick. All I can find is the rollerball and I hate those. Edit: Skylar has this back in stock as of 4-30-25! I only have a tiny sample of this scent. My sample is pre-2023. It has the very squeaky clean quality other Skylar scents have for me. It smells like I remember Cool Water from the 90’s when it came on fold out ads inmagazines, the light perfume and the almost bleachy smell of paper. It performs poorly in cold weather, you are lucky to get an hour of wear, I hope to amend this once summer rolls around.

really nice, clean, almost vanilla like scent. not dessert-like, but definitely sweet. there’s a good salt note in it, but it doesn’t smell sweaty to me. when i first got the tester bottle, the scent was very faint and definitely faded really fast. now that i have the rollerball, its almost overwhelmingly strong at first, but has calmed down now. yet to see longevity.

I absolutely love using this to layer under brighter scents like Skylar's Capri Summer or Juliette Has a Gun's Pear Inc to create a scent bubble that exudes the memories of sitting among the fruit trees under the mediterranean sun at my grandmother's house on the sicilian coast

Tested this in store and will be purchasing full size. I have no idea how they managed to literally bottle ocean salt air , but they did. It's absolutely lovely. Don't have much more to say bc it's not a complex smell on me. Just very fresh salty ocean in the best of ways

I have this and love it! It smells just like a day at the beach with suntan oil! Right up my alley for the summer because I love the smell of the suntan oil but the scent goes away. Heres your solution for a touch up!

This is the most realistic salty ocean breeze scent I've found and it's more pleasant than all the others I've tried. Smells very clean. Reminds me of 11 11 but a little more feminine and a little stronger

Finally a beach scent that doesn’t smell like soap! This fragrance does not smell floral at all to me but I definitely get the salt water, sand, and a touch of wood. Overall really nice fragrance.

This is the exact warm slightly dirty sea salt you will find in Juliet has a Gun Vanilla Vibes, but without the Vanilla. Perfect for layering and exactly what I was hoping for!
