Brussels Sprouted

Why the name is 'Brussels Sprouted' I have no clue. Yes, I get the idea of the pun, and yes brussels sprouts are green, but I can't really think of anything more unlike the title than this fragrance. The opening is cool, and minty, but not in a gum or toothpaste sense. It's more like fresh mint being crushed underfoot after a storm. Wet, and freshly green. Greener than green, really. It's like Brent took the idea of green and bottled it, in a good way. As the super green top notes die down some the richness of the cedar begins to shine through, drying down to a sweet, earthy musk. It's like a walk through a fantasy forest, with everything just a little bit 'more' than it would be in reality. Like a dream. I think I'm in love. :)

Updated: Now that I'm far far more educated in fragrance, I really love this one. It starts out with a floral and sweet green scent that could be compared to a petrichor in garden of carnations and tulips. After about a couple hours, the dry down sets in with a very light musk and traces of sweetness from the petrichor. It's really nice and light, but the beginning can get a bit sweet for me. I'm surprised that it's not among the notes, because I can smell dill very strongly in the opening, which dies down to synthetic green and musk. Not my favourite from Smell Bent, but not as bad as Lumberjack Werewolf.

A wonderful scent for those wandering off the beaten path. The first spritz released a note of GREEN! with barely the hint of dirt...but not a sharp, bitter, earthy green. The green note is softened by the cedar note which provids the OOOMPH for the juice. The silliage is an impressive 4-5 hours with a dry down to a green/smoky musk notes that aren't as intense as first application, but wonderful none-the-less.

I couldn't resist testing this after reading the reviews, a couple of which made me think I'd experience a greenhouse type of scent, but no! It's quite a clean, green, earthy scent and although listed as a men's scent, it's perfectly suitable for female skin chemistry as well. The opening notes made me think of wet vetiver with a subtle background nuance of freshly torn spearmint leaf, although I'm not exactly sure what I was smelling. That's just what came to mind! The heart of the fragrance was warmer and woodier, and I kept thinking my nose was detecting a little dry patchouli (like what is found in Profumum Thundra), but it was probably just the combination of earthy-woody notes! The base was a warm, sensual, clean musk that stayed close to the skin. Longevity was about 5 hours on me and it was a delightful fragrance to wear! It's a green hippie-ish type of scent. It's fresh, yet earthy. I highly recommend it as a positive scent experience!

75) City smell Very very close of Pentachords Verdant (Tauer) but better AND cheaper (much more). There is less soil tincture and more green notes softened by the musk. It's strange it can be a "green" perfume (a green house filled with dark earth) but maybe also the smell of a city after the rain, like a mix of dust,concrete,pollution and wet tar. That depend of your imagination. being Belgian it's obviously the smell of Brussels in the rain that comes to my mind.

I got a small sample of Brussels Sprouted and liked it so much that I recently ordered a full bottle. A green that stays! If you get fooled by the notes, you'll think it smells like a forest, but no: I smell an indoor garden (wet leaves, wet soil, wet wood), with a tiny bit of, maybe, cinnamon, or some other spice, giving it a clean, soapy aura. I'm eager for the full bottle to come and make a better review.

The is a wonderfully theatrical smell. It is the sort of thing that might be pumped into the London dungeons to signify 'dank'. I vividly recall the damp, concrete walls of the basement in Punchdrunk's The Drowned Man (set in an old, abandoned post office building) when I smell this. It is not so much a perfume on its own, but a note that might add some gungy green to a more polite perfume.

Brussels Sprouted opens with a bitter green that is almost sharp. After not too long it calms down a bit and gets a little sweet on me, which is pretty typical for my skin. The cedar and earth come out later, but green is dominant all the way through. The only downside of this to me is it fades to a skin scent relatively quickly.

At first spray I thought I hated this one...the opening is a sharp overly sweet green that was a definite turnoff. Brussels Sprouted has pretty quickly mellowed into something damp and soapy - almost a dewy scent, anchored in green and a hint of soil. Sheets hung out to dry in the garden. Quite unique and refreshing.

Sharp opening, but settles down into a really clean (yet dirty?) green scent. I have a hard time isolating any notes with this, but it is a very pleasant green that is reminiscent of being out in natural spaces.

Wow! People really like this stuff???!! Maybe I'm blind outta my mind or I'm inside of my mind looking through the blinds. I now see why Luckyscent gave Smell Bent the boot. Was this juice an attempt of avant-gardeness and what about the questionable presentation?!?! Can you say cheapjack? When I sprayed this on my skin, I had to look at the calendar to make sure we were still in May because everything about Brussels Sprouted feels like an April Fools prank. I was certain that Smell Bent created the bargain-basement bottles as a throw off method for shock value only to lure us into love. Boy was i wrong. The low budget bottle reflects the juice inside. Smh...microcosm realized. To say the least, the creation of Brussels Sprouted smells uber juvenilistic. I really think this perfume would have benefited from a skanky dosage of cedar as opposed to the mellow stuff provided. Those unidentified fancy schmancy green notes mixed with musk creates a wintergreen accord that emits a winterfresh gum like coolness. Not long after the "cool down period”, something develops chlorine-like with an odor I can only describe as public bathroom. Doesn't smell professional at all. Brussels Sprouted is everything.. Everything but healthy.

Well . . . this definitely does not work on my skin. I love nature and generally love everything “foresty”. I just got a sample pack from Smell Bent and this was one of my selections. They call it “the forest after the rain”. I wish I could say that it was a bad batch, or something other than this smelled like decaying vegetation on damp moldy concrete. There is a weird feral smell to it so I guess it could be damp things in the forest – just not the things I expected. Smell Bent says its’ notes are sprouted greens and musk growing in wet earth. I guess I expected a little of that petrichor smell after a rain. But it is more like dampness from drainage ditches that are backed up with shadowy things growing in them. Sillage is amazing, but I have no idea on longevity. Had to wash it off within the first half hour – doesn’t work for me.

I hate brussel sprouts with a passion, so I suppose I was testing myself when I ordered a sample of Smell Bent's Brussels Sprouted. Thankfully, this fragrance smells nothing like that dreaded vegetable. In fact, I rather enjoy this unique scent. Brussels Sprouted is similar to Demeter's Dirt, however it's a touch more green. It harks back to my childhood, reminding me of the days when I would joyfully dig up the garden, splash around in the mud and taste test the grass. I obviously don't partake in those activities any more, but I do enjoy reliving those carefree days through wearing Brussels Sprouted. Brussels Sprouted does convey a hippie, nature-loving vibe. I half suspect that patchouli is missing from this scent pyramid, because I smell it quite strongly on my skin. Admittedly Brussels Sprouted is a bit of an acquired taste, a fragrance that may incite a few strange comments. However, with that being said, I'm quite happy to wear it for myself. Smell Bent's quirky fragrances are not for everyone. Brussels Sprouted wears a lot like an oil. The sillage is moderate, but the longevity is excellent. You could get away with wearing this fragrance all year long. I should mention that it's unisex too.

Brussels Sprouted comes across as herbal and tangy, with a few creamy notes that smooth everything out. The scent is built around a mossy patchouli. As it wears, the sharp, sour edges slowly fade, leaving behind a clean, lightly sweet base. It eventually settles into a softly caramelized note layered over cedarwood. Think of a thick coconut cream, but stripped of its sweetness by adding green, slightly acidic leaves. You don’t actually smell coconut—but that rich, creamy feel stays with you.

Bewitching....very unique. Spring outing at an amusement park....fun, happiness....I rarely like greens, but I like this brand and wanted to sample things outside of my usual bent - VERY nice, CRISP!

I was expecting a fresh scent with happier notes. This is a powerful perfume with good longevity but it is old man smelling to my nose.
