Disco Nap

I'm reviewing the EDT. I applied a tiny spray as my cold was starting and found it very strong, first off all lavender, fresh but sweet, then as it faded a little the sweet musky vanilla comes through. It has the same qualities I love from She-Wolf. If you like that and love lavender, you will no doubt like this too. I would like to wear this as a bedtime scent, for when I am not sleeping alone ;).

ooh this is snuggly. i'm getting vanilla with hints of coconut and ambergris and a soft musk. it's very soft and pretty. a comforting little scent, like a hot vanilla tea on a cold afternoon. this reminds me a lot of the discontinued victoria' secret cashmere vanilla jasmine, though that one is a bit woodier. really liking this one a lot!

It went from musk to sweet to earthy. There's a harder, animalistic scent to it at the end. Very interesting. It comes off as playful and then rough and serious. But the coconut that sticks through it.... I am impressed. ETA- it should be noted that I'm using the oil, not the EDT.

I think I'm picking up solar notes or something else that gives this a dry, baked kind of aura. It's a lot like if you mixed butter and brown sugar and baked them into a light crisp in the oven. The vanilla and coconut are suggestive; I get mainly sugar and butter.

The notes sound so wonderful, that I really had high expectations for this one. So much potential, but on my skin, it was nearly invisible. Even when it was fresh, I really had to strain to smell it. Faint almond, musk, and coconut or vanilla. Wow, seven sprays, and I still have a hard time picking out the notes, which are "noticable" at best. Longevity was hard to judge also because it sat so close.

If you like vanilla scents, but don’t like gourmands, Smell Bent is worth checking out. If you were expecting something sweet from Disco Nap, you will probably be disappointed. Mostly, this is an ambergris and musk scent with very mild sweetness. It smells oily, waxy and a bit dusty. The overall impression is of suntan lotion still lingering on a t-shirt you wore 3 days ago.

The initial spray is something really synthetic and borderline unpleasant, but it dries down to a coconutty, sweet fragrance like others have mentioned. Almost reminds me of coconut macaroons. Have to wear this one more and see if I like it or not, but it's definitely a good bedtime fragrance.

Using the EDT. I can't decribe this other than tender, if there's an edge, it's a mellow one. I can't imagine this on a man. It is vanillic, but not in a car-scent way. I wear it in day-time, it's moderate sillage is ok for the office.

Review of the EDT version. Indescriptible sharp edge that evokes a powdery ancient fragrance, must be the ambergris (I don't really know since it's the first perfume with this Ingredient in my wardrobe). Coconut is barely detectable, musk is there in a very skanky and animalic form, paired with the Vanilla it's way too sweet for a manly man to pull off, has a very distinctive cedarwood twang to it, but it's not listed. I'm definitely not overwhelmed by this, I find Disco Nap to be very, you know, normal. Very heady kind of a baroque but airy oriental perfume (weird juxtaposition right?). Think of mystere by rochas but from a modern and niche perfume company. This smells nothing like mystere but, Just to place it on a timeline of perfumes, this belongs right there. Almonds are barely there, they Just add some nutty dry-ness to the base. Overall it's not bad, Just outdated, but I guess that as a niche house it's all right by their creativity standards. P.S. A disco nap is When you nap before going out, since this is more of a cozy scent, that is the reference they allude to. It's really nice for bedtime since it's rather natural smelling. Update: the drydown is earthy carnations with burnt caramel and Vanilla. Weird.

My distinct impression is that Smell Bent is a sort of budget Etat Libre d'Orange. Big on concept and humor, but in this case geared for the super budget-conscious perfume user looking for niche and high concept but unhappy with the high prices. Disco Nap smells like a perfectly fine sweetish vanilla oriental perfume. There is some coconut and woodishness and amberishness (more like ambergris than labdanum amber), but the overall effect is a bit sticky for my tastes. To me, this is an average oriental perfume. What does "Disco Nap" mean? Honestly, I have no idea. Does it matter? I had an epiphany recently, which might be called "The Bell Curve Breakthrough". It suddenly dawned on me that most perfumes should be average. A tiny percentage of them should be excellent, and a tiny percentage of them should be egregious. Disco Nap falls right smack dab in the middle of the bell curve: neither swoon-worthy nor abhorrent.

I love this scent! It has a thick, chewy texture—heavy, yet dry in character. While I can smell the almond, coconut, and vanilla, on my skin they are they entirely unsweetened—which is how I like them! I was looking primarily for a bed, comfort scent, but sometimes I wear this during the day—or even layer it with perfumes lacking depth or needing something to ground them. I don't really get a lot of musk here, but I do get a hint of the ambergris. I would definitely repurchase this.

This is so soft and cuddly (edt spray). It's simple and not really too complex. When I first spray it, I get warm vanilla followed by creamy coconut right away. After a couple minutes I can pick out the almond, but it's so very subtle. And now that it has properly warmed up, ambergris is turning it slightly dirty. But good dirty. Very close to patchouli without the tingle.

This one is nice and reminds me of some of the Bond offerings but, at a MUCH lower price. The opening is excellent but the dry down was a little disappointing. Now don't get me wrong - it's still nice. However, the basenotes aren't different or nice enough for me to invest in a full bottle. Sillage good. Longevity excellent.

This one just isn't working for me. The coconut doesn't seem to blend well with the rest of the notes. The vanilla and musk are lovely underneath but the coconut is being really distracting and oddly disconnected from the rest of the scent. Such a shame I had high hopes looking at the notes!

Whoever mentioned the older musk scents of the 1970s got their comparison right. I would say this is the updated better version. I mainly get vanilla and musk with hints of cedar and at the very beginning the tiniest hints of coconut and almond.
