Prairie Nymph

OMG, this stuff is sublime!!! Weirdly, it reminds me of my favorite perfume of all time, Guerlain L'Heure Bleue -- albeit with more of a Super Honey + Beeswax twist vs. the light honey-almond pastry of the Guerlain. Yet, both have a clove/cinnamon-y, spicy, almost medicinal opening (the carnations, of course!) and a sweet, rich, powdery -- almost dusty -- incense-y drydown. Prairie Nymph has this beautiful, sweet and sexy, nostalgic feel that just SPEAKS to me in such a profound way, just like L'Heure Bleue. After receiving my bottle in the mail, I went to order a back-up bottle of this incredible potion, but it's all sold out and Smell Bent is apparently closing up shop and no longer producing perfumes, at least for a while... :((( I'm deeply hoping that Brent Leonesio comes back and offers this beautiful creation again, in some form. Plus, I would love a chance to explore other Smell Bent scents. My goodness, what an incredible discovery!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE <3

On me this is about 75% honey/beeswax, 25% carnation/musk, with absolutely no mandarins. I would have liked to smell them, but I also don't think the scent suffers for their absence. This is one of the truest honey scents I've every smelled; the kind you find very fresh at a farm stand. The beeswax keeps things from getting too sweet, and the musk/carnation combo isn't overly powdery even though that's a perpetual problem with carnations on my skin. This scent is also strong! Even after a shower it's still hanging around with a perfectly reasonable amount of throw. I find it uplifting and comforting, and while it is sexy it's also very easy to wear. I wouldn't have any problem wearing this to dinner with my parents, or even in the daytime in the spring, although it could easily be a date night scent.

Beautiful! Gorgeous! Soft and warm. Honey and beeswax are the dominant notes here, backed by the spiciness of carnations. Imagine a dozen honey-scented beeswax candles, burning in a warm dim room near a bouquet of carnations. I really didn't get the clementine that is mentioned below, and it smells nothing at all like bubble gum. [Later edit:] Oh, THAT clementine. I have no idea how I missed that the first couple of times I wore it. It's the smell of the slightly bitter oil, not a scent of fresh oranges, and it fits perfectly with all of the other notes. This is a lovely fragrance that makes me want to try more from Smell Bent. It is one of the purest and truest honey scents I've run across.

I love this fragrance. It is honey sweet but I thankfully get lots of carnation that gives some kick and prevents it being cloying. I do think there might also be clove present. Very spicy, slightly orangey and delicious. It needs more clove to make me think of the orange and clove pomanders we used to make in primary school. Quite strong notes that seem to keep any musk low key on me. It is pretty linear on me. Moderate sillage and longevity. Do try it if you like potent, sweet yet spicy fragrance

Like pollen, nector rich flowers in a sun drenched field scattered with haystacks. Then very spicey on me, like cinnamon at the start, and can definitely smell the clementine carnation. But then after a while it really develops into honey and beeswax, so beautiful and perfect. Powdery and sweet. Many layers to this perfume, it's now one of my favorites!

One of the best honey scents I've encountered: lots of powdery pollen from the carnation, dripping with sweetness, and full of beeswax. There's a bit of bubblegum or rootbeer barrels in there, too, which sounds odd, but smells quite lovely to me.

You know what it reminds me of... Potion by Lush. I have just grabbed a big bottle. There is just enough of everything - Carnation and the sweetness in the background. Love at first sight!

For me this scent is all about the honey and beeswax, which I love.

Incredible Idea of smell! generally it is a story about spicy real honey. All impression reminds me the kind of honey made with pollen of blooming thyme herbs ade in mediterranean countries. I think it is mandaring which gives this spicyness. At the beginning Praire Nymph reminds fresh baked gingerbreads made with lots of honey (here mandarine is the most prominent), then it starts to be calmer, more musky and gentle, now in the base one can feel dustyness of beeswax, later it becomes pure honey sweetness melting with skin. I cant say it turns in much difrent phases while developing, for me its rather linear, just more gentle with time. Maybe it is a result of subliminal message brought by the campaign , but I really can imagine flirty brave praire girl dressed in leather and laces ;) Her smell is not mild and pure as soap, it's sweet and spicy without any ebrassement, hotted by frying sun all day above. Ohhhh... I love it! :D

Sigh. Clearly I have the wrong skin chemistry for this fragrance. The good news is that if ever I decide to truly repel my husband and banish him far away from me, all I need to do is spray on some of this honey potion. I was wearing my small tester the other day (purchased in a sample pack) and he kept wrinkling his nose and asking "what's that smell?" He was truly perplexed. Finally I shoved my wrist under his nose and he recoiled in disgust. According to him it smells like "piss... but not just any piss... dog piss." Not sure what the exact distinction is, perhaps he is a connoisseur. At any rate, this will have to be worn only when he is out of town. Or perhaps only when I'm by myself, as I'll be the only one who understands that I did not, in fact, pee myself.

This is kinda nice, very sweet/spicy. I really only pick up the honey and carnation - maybe a hint of musk, but it's a pleasant balance. I somewhat feel it needs ...something else with it, but not sure what. Also, the musk feels more like sandalwood. It's got that powdery-sweetness going on. I'm not sure I'd wear this in the summer or in a stuffy office, as it might become cloying after a time. Very interested to see how this behaves. Floral gourmand, for sure! No headaches yet, so yay! there. EDIT: This has a sneaky peachy/orange opening that settles in the background. The sweetness is just *almost* too overpowering, however, when the carnation is in the fore it reminds me of Lush's "Potion" products.

77) For women only? no no no for men too, may be "sensitive"men? Brent L. has made a beautiful rendering of clementine. You can almost hold it just under your nose. The notes of honey, carnation and musk provide a realistic texture and an effect of sticky sweet juice on fingers. It's fresh, gently mischievous. How can you resist to that? Pour femme? non non non pour homme aussi, peut être les hommes "sensibles"? Brent L. a réalisé un très beau rendu de clémentine. On peut presque la tenir dans ses doigts . Les notes de miel, d'oeillet et de musc apportent une texture réaliste et un effet de doigts rendus collants par le jus sucré. C'est frais, doucement coquin. Comment résister à ça?

Prairie Nymph is basically a good girl. She smells exactly like Hubba Bubba bubblegum. You can imagine her popping bubbles and giggling merrily. Unbeknownst to you though, she is secretly doing her kegel exercises even as she happily chats to you about the weather or traffic conditions. There is just that hidden edge of dirty musk about her. I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this saucy little good girl trollop. She is just a bundle of fun and her longevity is amazing (12hrs).

First ever perfume (not that I've smelled them all, mind you) that I can smell the carnation. LOVE that peppery spicy carnation. Yes, starts out herbal and Prairie like. Not too sweet, and not getting bubble gum. Not any gum that I've ever had anyways. But if you really want to get your carnation on, THIS girl is YOUR girl. Nicely done. Probably would layer really well with other florals that are too sweet, or even a sweet amber would be nice.

Honey, honey and more honey. But then something almost... savoury? That sounds weird, but there is something here that basically tempers the sweetness, so that it never becomes sickening. If you like honey, you must try this. As others have said, the longevity is absolutely outstanding, and it stays strong - you will be smelling clouds of honey all day/night.

Lovely! Lots of beeswax, honey, a touch of flowers and some mandarin. And the longevity is unbeatable, almost 24 hours now. Smells now honeyed musk.

I'm so loving this scent. It's citrusy, sweet like honey, like a lovely dessert. Yumm. Where do I buy this :D

Testing of Spring 2011 EDT spray sample from indiescents: This scent is addictive! Honeyed clementines with background notes of beeswax and a touch of very clean musk. I can't say I detect the carnation, but I'm glad because I don't like that note on my skin. The sweetness is almost over the top! One spritz is all I need to share between both wrists and it lasts for hours. Sillage is enormous. The scent residue lasts for days on my clothes and keeps me sniffing my sleeves. Now that my sample is finished, I can't stop thinking about it! Update: I ordered a full bottle of the EDT directly from Smell Bent, and I have to admit it's a little spicier (in a clove-ish way) and has a little more carnation detectable than the indiescents sample did. Brent was very helpful and clarified that due to natural ingredients and the fact that batches are mixed by hand, it is possible a small variation may have occurred, which would normally not be noticeable. I am thinking my skin chemistry (which is challenged by clove and carnation) may just be magnifying a very subtle variation. So now I am experiencing the "touch of come hither" in Prairie Nymph! I will also add that every Smell Bent perfume I've tried so far smells high quality and well composed! Plus, Brent was very quick to go out of his way to resolve an unexpected problem I experienced with my bottle of Prairie Nymph. You can't really put a price on that kind of personal touch!

Smell Bent is one of my favorite perfume houses and i hate to criticize but somehow their honey note doesn't sit well on me. like St. Tropez Apres Soleil, the honey in Prairie Nymph starts off well enough but quickly becomes louder and sweeter and more cloying the longer it sits on my skin. it gets to a point where it drowns out all other notes and starts to give me a headache, which is weird because i'm not usually sensitive to fragrances. it also takes on this odd musky quality that i can only compare to ferret/rat urine (some pet owners will know what i mean). for the first 10 minutes, Prairie Nymph starts out a sweet but fresh, floral, sunshiney creamsicle but then the dreaded honey starts to rise and dominate the entire fragrance. i hate to do it to you, Smell Bent, but this one was a scrubber for me - i actually had to scrub a few times to get it all off, so its longevity and strength are a plus if Prairie Nymph plays nice with you.

I'm a huge fan of Smell Bent but this is my least favorite of the many, many bottles I currently own. To me, it smells exactly like holiday potpourri. Like the stuff you buy in a bag and put in a bowl for the powder room. Blech. I have an EDT sample spray if anyone is interested, send me a message.
