Cheirosa '59

Cheirosa ’59 is such a creation. At first sniff, you might expect a mere “body spray”—a cheerful trifle, destined for gym bags and beaches. Instead, what arrives is a miniature sonata in vanilla and violet, played with such disarming sincerity that you can’t help but smile. The opening Vanilla Orchid is plush yet airy, a cloud of sweetness that feels at once youthful and—dare I say it—immortal. Powder is here, yes, but not in the sepia-toned, Chanel No. 5 way; rather it’s like the soft-focus glow of old Technicolor film. It lends the scent a hush, a patina that rescues it from the tyranny of fleeting novelty. The sugar in the heart doesn’t bludgeon you with candied excess. Instead, it flirts around the violet—one of perfumery’s trickiest notes—and together they create something almost paradoxical: innocent yet knowing, coquettish but never cloying. Think of a violet pastille tucked in the pocket of a summer dress, melting slowly under the sun. And then comes sandalwood in the base, grounding the whole affair with a creamy, cashmere-like texture. This is what makes Cheirosa ’59 linger longer than its easygoing reputation suggests: the skin remembers, even after the sparkle fades. In short, this is a democratic perfume, one that gives itself freely, without the pretension of limited editions or arcane concept briefs. Sweet, powdery, violet, floral, woody, vanilla, luminous, feminine, sensual, seductive, flirty, charming, whimsical, delicate, magical, delightful, dreamy, soothing, calming, alluring, tempting, addictive, inviting, cozy, comforting This is such a beautiful scent, very whimsical, magical, dreamy, inviting, and comforting! I get all of the notes pretty equally, although the candied violet seems to be the star, supported by the delicate and powdery vanilla orchid, and creamy sandalwood. The color of the bottle matches the scent it holds extremely well. I don’t own many violet fragrances, but this is one of my favorites along with GdT Celeste (which for some reason always makes me think of fairy dust and Pixie Stix. The Delicia Drench body cream actually pairs very nicely with Celeste. I’m a huge fan of SDJ fragrances, and own most of them including the limited editions. My top 5 are Summer è Amor, 62, 39, 40, and 59. My least favorites are Dança Mística, Agua Mística, and 68. This feels feminine to me, and like it’s suitable for all ages. I feel like this works well throughout the entire year. I’m not usually one for bedtime scents other than my BBW Aromatherapy ones, but this really does make a nice one too because of how dreamy, soothing, and comforting it is. I also think it’s best suited for casual occasions and work and/or school. Warm sexy yummy goodness. I love how this melts down, it’s like hugging a sexy middle aged woman right in her chest. Cleavage, hot chocolate with marshmallows, a well used designer handbag. There’s something in this perfume that reminds me of that ‘cakey’ smell some expensive lipsticks have. It took me a few months of testing this perfume to fully commit and buy it. Every time I would go into boots or Space NK and smell it, my girlfriends would say it’s nice but it’s just not you. I couldn’t make a decision but every time I sprayed it on my skin in the shop, I’d spend the rest of the day unable to stop sniffing my arm. So maybe it’s not me, but it’s the woman I want to be. The performance and plastic kind of smell some of the other sol de Janeiro sprays that I have, originally put me off, but this is has nothing of that. Another thing, I really don’t get is the ‘powdery’ notes/comments, to me this is pure creamy woodsy lactonic goodness, my skin tends to make stuff quite tangy and sometimes even balsamic so it’s hard to find a gourmand that stays truly delicious on my skin. This is the first gourmand that’s stayed that way. This smell transforms to something too ‘deep’ to have a powdery smell for me. It’s dusky, it’s sexy, it’s warm, it’s cosy, it’s playful, mature yet girlish.

This is it. I’ve found a gem! This is hands down the best blind buy I have ever made. I’ve tried dozens of vanilla fragrances, including high-end niche perfumes, but this... this is 'the one' for me. It’s a scent that truly feels like me. The fragrance is elegant, comforting, and cozy. It’s sweet, but never cloying or 'sickeningly' sweet. Instead, it’s a beautiful, delicate, and soft blend of sugared violets wrapped in a warm vanilla embrace. It has a lovely powdery quality that feels modern and uplifting rather than dated. As a perfume mist, it wears like a skin scent, which I also prefer. Intimate and private. I love the idea that it’s my little secret; only those I allow to get close can experience the magic. The longevity is surprising for a mist. I get up to 7 hours on my skin, and I can still smell it on my clothes the next day. It's also a scent that can easily be worn all year round. My long hunt for the perfect vanilla scent has officially ended. To think I almost skipped this because Cheirosa '62 was such a disappointment and the bottle design didn't appeal to me. I would have missed out on a masterpiece that has easily entered my top 5! It just goes to show once again to never judge a book by its cover. 10/10 🤍💖

I got the big bottle for half off after already trying it in store, and I have to say that I really like this. It has a little bit of a grandma quality to it, probably because of the violet and orchid combo, but it doesn't bother me much, and it mostly goes away after it dries down. It's a lot more subtle than the other Sol de Janeiro scents and doesn't have that signature fruity or overly gourmand smell, and out of all the SdJ fragrances I've tried this one by far performs the worst when it comes to projection and longevity on the skin. It lasts about as long as a fart. I don't usually find myself reapplying SdJ through the day, but this one I have to touch up many times. I'm totally roasting this fragrance, and from what I usually go for in a perfume/body spray, I *should* dislike this... but.... I'm oddly attached to it. It's subtle and casual enough for the office, yet it doesn't bore you to death or smell like nothing. It's perfect for the everyday, and I can see this being a good layering scent for the evening. It kind of smells like what I imagine Adele smells like. Couldn't tell you why. I'm feeling this become my signature scent for this spring.

This is far and away my favorite from the SDJ fragrance line. I think the body butter version of this fragrance is the best version. It smells a little synthetic from the tub, but on skin, it is so clean, comforting, and sweet in a way that is more sophisticated than other gourmand body butters in the same price range. It's a deeply moisturizing formula, and the scent lasts a surprisingly long time on clothes/bedding that I've wrapped around me after I've applied the body butter on myself. I can see myself ordering more tubs of the body butter when I run out because the scent has quite literally lifted me from a depressive funk lol. If you like gourmands and have yet to smell this, add this to your list of "body butters to sample" because this fluffy, creamy scent is worth the sniff. This is the kind of scent you'd wear after showering, especially to stay indoors & read on a cooler day/night. It evokes memories of sleeping over at a best friend's place. It could work as a summer fragrance, but only as a fragrance mist unless your skin is truly dry. Very wholesome and uplifting.

I dare say that this is tied for first place with Cheirosa 62 as my favorite body spray from Sol De Jenairo. This smells ethereal, feminine, and clean. It is a delicate violet dusted with sugar. Longevity is exceptional. Projection and silage is moderate, and stays moderate, this never fades into a skin scent. Cheirosa 59 has a slightly powdery texture. It is not overwhelming, but I do think that you have to enjoy powdery scents to fall in love with it. This can be wore year-round. I love wearing this for fancy sleep... clean sheets, soft silk pajamas, and this body spray. I am addicted to this. It is one of my 10/10 fragrances. This layers beautifully with so many scents, some of the combos that I have tried are: Ariana Grande’s Cloud, Cloud 2.0, Mod Vanilla, Kylie Cosmic, Sand and Fog Marshmallow sky, Victoria’s Secret Rich Vanilla Caramel, JPG La Belle, and Kate Spade New York Sparkle.

The Fragrantica comments never cease to amaze and bewilder me. I can’t tell if majority of them are bots, paid employees trying to sabotage their competitors or what. All I can say is that some of the opinions and comparisons I read on certain fragrances are absolutely wild. Like, utterly made up sounding. Idk man...I guess it’s not that deep, but whenever the people in my fb fragrance groups want to have a good laugh, we screenshot the weirdest reviews and share it amongst each other. Anyway, this is an absolutely lovely fragrance. It smells like vanilla frosting, candied violets and a bit oriental. Probably from the sheer sandalwood. It’s got a nice, creamy touch and I personally don’t find it to be overly gourmand, but still sweet. Longevity is okay for a body mist. Lasts much longer on clothes for sure. Easy reach. Super cozy. Nothing too groundbreaking, but I still love it 9/10 🪻

Beautiful and feminine floral gourmand if there ever was one. It's not a complex scent but there's nothing I'd change about it. It's cozy, soft, sweet, quite young but not juvenile or cheap smelling. Definitely my favourite body spray. I originally got it right before summer and at first was worried it was a bad buy, because I never felt like reaching for it. In the cooler months I started to love it. Same goes for the matching deodorant, which maybe leans a bit more to woody gourmand and slightly nutty. SDJ is mostly overpriced as a brand, but the body sprays are decently priced and they last me a long time. The only bad thing about this scent is how popular and mainstream the brand is. If I felt worried about not being a unique snowflake that'd be negated by the fact that I love wearing it the most at home anyway.

Now that I have spent time with this one. I love it. I typically do not layer ... now I can't stop ... it just works so well with so many things. On my skin it is soft, warm, sweet, sensual. Not too much for summer and has paired well with D&G Light Blue and also Floral Blush (a Coach bright citrus peony scent). I can see this as perfect and cozy for the colder soft sweater months too. When I first got it the body mist did not smell like the body butter (so moisturizing!). After it sat on my shelf for a few weeks - that changed. They now smell identical to me. Must have been my nose. Honestly perfection. Not a single complaint. It is nice to wear to bed, right out of the shower, on a date, at work. You just smell ... good. And the scent lasts. Imagine that! I hope they make the perfume version.

When I first tried this, it reminded me of the comforting, sugary flavor of a Taro boba tea, which I absolutely adored. It's a sweet, creamy, woody vanilla that I primarily use as a cozy stay-at-home fragrance. It feels so distinctly feminine and comforting. However, after a few wears, I started experiencing nasal irritation and realized the culprit was the powdery violet accord. This is the only aspect I dislike, but it is largely compensated for by the smooth, creamy sandalwood base. Interestingly, I find it smells phenomenal when I catch it on someone else. While I love the overall scent, it’s not for people who dislike significant sweetness or strong powdery notes. The longevity is better than other SDJ body sprays, but I recommend buying a quality dupe over repurchasing the original.

genuinely one of my favourite fragrances of all time, and quite far out of the realm of what i would usually go for for scents, but i smelled it and immediately became obsessed. it is such a beautiful warm, sugary powdery scent. i don't know how to describe what it smells like but i CAN describe the images it invokes in my head. a beautiful forest full violets, orchids, and other purple flowers, ethereal and glowing in the night, what looks like frost covering everything but upon a closer look it's actually a dusting of sugar, there's pixies fluttering around in the air around you, glowing the same purple hues as the flowers, leaving behind a trail of sugary pixie dust. such a warm and magical feeling scent, one that i would have never pictured myself loving as much as i do.

okay so honestly, at first it pulled an old lady. i was sure that i just spent my money for nothing, but after some days i wore it again and at some point i really started to like it. so much that i actually wear it everyday. for me, it lasts for a whole day. through school days and night outings. it’s very sweet, vanilla-ish scent and overwhelming enough that i smell it on me all day. usually i have to be careful that i don’t spray it too much. i recommend this 100%!! price is good and longevity great. of course it smells different on everybody, i was kinda suspicious about the sandalwood that it would make the drydown weird but it didn’t for me! but that’s a thing to keep in mind. so if you like very sweet scent then this is the real deal! otherwise i rec to skip this.

I feel like a fairy wearing it. 🤍 I originally thought about not buying this because it is not ~identical~ to the body butter - so it was an impulsive purchase, but God, I have no regrets. 🤍🌸🤍 It's such a beautiful scent, and frankly entirely unique to anything else in my relatively large collection. Powder sugar vanilla , center stage orris/iris, sandalwood and those phantom orchid notes. 🤍🌸🤍 Now, after a while, it's one of my favourite fragrances. It's comforting, professional, strong but not too strong. Sweet but not too sweet. A tad creamy, a tad woody. Powdery but not too powdery. Interesting but not distracting. Just right for almost anytime, anywhere. My good luck scent. 🤍🌸🤍 The colour of the bottle is on point. It's magical.

This is such a comforting, cozy, edible scent that is easy to wear. I bought this because I fell in love with the scent in the Delicia 59 body butter, unfortunately this is less sugary, warm gourmand and more floral/sandalwood. The hair and body mist has terrible longevity where the 59 scent in the body butter is detectable until you wash it off. I have noticed that the 59 products are FAR less concentrated and have much worse longevity than other Sol De Janeiro products, especially 62 and Bum Bum cream. What lingers on your skin for an hour or two is light sandalwood and musk. I do not get the sugary vanillla (that I love as a someone who doesn't typically like gourmands) that I like in the body butter.

beautiful. gorgeous. smells like warmth, vanilla cupcakes with a hint of violet. it lasts a lot, atleast on me, it’s the reason i bought it. i tested it in another country, one spritz, and smelled it for the next 14 hours of the bus ride and even got a compliment as i got off. can easily pair with other warm vanilla gourmands, i pair it with vanilla 28 or bare vanilla, both heavenly. if you want a perfume similar to this, i recomend VS bare sueded vanilla. i also find it hard to get bored of, used it daily since 2024, on my 10th bottle. love the lotion and body wash too. IF YOU WANNA SMELL LIKE YOU RADIATE WARMTH, SWEETNESS WITH A TOUCH OF SEDUCTIVE ENERGY, BUY IT! you’ll get so many compliments, 10/10

I purchased the Sol de Janeiro Cheriosa ‘59 at the Canadian Lewiston Duty-Free last week on a whim. When I arrived at my destination, I realized I left my fragrance bag at home, so I have been wearing this for the past week daily, and it is a major compliment magnet! To my nose, the powdery sweetness fades relatively quickly, and it settles into a lovely scent bubble of vanilla, sandalwood, and subtle musk. After about five hours, I cannot smell this on myself, but I have received compliments on my scent seven to eight hours into wearing this body mist!!!! It is a solid choice for cooler weather and daytime or evening occasions when you want something sweet yet sophisticated.

i bought this when it dropped and wore it religiously to try and form an opinion on it, and at first it was meh. but then i started to get notes of Sticky Child Fingers and iPad Crust. took a t-break and caught a whiff in the elevator last week now im obsessed. it was a woody, floral hug underneath a sweet layer of fluff. the sweetness caught my moms attention, being the second perfume shes ever complimented on me besides Glossier You (my signature my pookie) I dont like gourmands, and I've been venturing into woody territory as of late. but this manages to be respectfully sweet while also immaturely woody. its a good fun grab.

This scent is so dreamy and magical. It feels very calming and remindes me of laying on the beach but is perfect for every season of the year. It makes me feel refreshed in summer and warm and comfy in winter. It is very sweet and sugary but is balanced out really well with the sandalwood. It has a very airy quality to it which makes it feel very relaxing. I love the combination of the violet, sugar and sandalwood. It is so girly but also leans unisex at the same time which is strange. It is very very strong and projection is crazy for a body spray. It also lasts a really long time for a body spray.

Smells exactly like a distant memory i can’t put my finger on. it’s definitely sugary, almost like a buttercream but it doesn’t feel sickly sweet or heavy, as it’s balanced nicely with the floral notes. Very sexy and cute, just a really interesting unique scent. I was in love with the body butter of this scent and personally i feel the spray is just as beautiful, the only difference being that the body butter is maybe slightly more rich? I can’t tell really, which is probably a good thing. I am in love with this & now I dont want to wear any of my other scents lol
