Dança Mística

Dança Mística has a slight resemblance to some of the fragrances my husband wears that I love, but can't wear, without leaning too masculine to work with my skin chemistry and preferences for myself. The fig, pear, sandalwood, and vanilla is what develops on my skin, but it's fresh enough to wear in warm weather. Like ilit who commented below me, I thought there was a cucumber note in Dança Mística. Summer's almost over, so unless September is warmer than August and July are/were here, I think this is going to be my go-to fragrance Summer 2026. I can even see myself reaching for Dança Mística in warm humid weather like I do with the light yellow '87. I think Dança Mística, '87, and '59 are my favorite scents from Sol de Janeiro. A little tangent here; as a toddler, we were stationed on the PH, because my late mother was an airhostess for SAS and flew long haul CPH>maybe Beijing?!>Manila and CPH>Bangkok>Tokyo. I haven't been to Tokyo, most of the warm places I've visited as a child were dry and in the U.S. I have a flash of a memory of somewhere hot, humid and with huge dark green leaves. I usually hate heat and humidity, but there's a pleasant scent from that memory, that Dança Mística reminds me of.

TLDR : if you want a unisex wood/amber scented body mist that has no sweet or flowery notes, this is for you. Smelled it in store, but didnt spray it there, so i basically blind ordered it. It is so good. The reviews saying that this isn't usual SDJ are right. Not gonna lie, this whole new summer line is out of the "juvenile" (sweet, saturated) scent? Dança mística is , first of all, quite unisex. It doesn't particularly lean to a masculine or feminine fragrance, it just smells woody + amber-y . I do catch a bit of the fig and vanilla, but the sandalwood and amber are the star. I don't smell the champagne personally. It is better for either summer nights, or for colder seasons (day and night). I see myself wearing this during autumn, winter, and colder spring days. It smells comforting, but not sweet at all. Very pleased with this fragrance. If I smelled this without knowing the brand, I would have assumed it is a fancier perfume. 34$+tax hurt my wallet , would have been better if it was sized like a BBW body mist. But it smells good, and I am very happy with this fragrance.

This brings me back to the magical camping month in Brazilian forest, where I slept under the fig tree. Every night I was looking to the stars and listening flowing river And all the animals... Those wild fig trees were just amazing, powerful and charming smelling. Those who think that this Danca Mistica doesn’t fit in SDJ line, for me this is very deep Brazilian essence - hidden, natural and kinda psychedelic too. It’s sophisticated and elegant, warm and light at the same time. Comforting and gives rich luxury feelings. I can think many great layering pairings for this too. It was first one of this years limited editions that I choose to buy. I get also good feelings for Aqua Mistica, but it smells little bit cheaper and for me it was photorealistic Gatorade -smell. :D

this is so pretty. my favourite of the three, i think, though it's close. i can't believe they made one that isn't (that) sweet!! wahoo! tested on skin: the opening is weird but i found that with all three. letting it sit for a while, it's magic. Orris and sandalwood, with vanilla and amber. Something sweet but I can't pick out fig or pear. Very smooth, and light compared to what you'd expect from the notes. Kind of odd to have something so sophisticated as a body spray but i'm actually obsessed. this is gorgeous. it's not masculine though it's not super girly as it isn't sweet, but there's a very prominent vanilla. it's a woody vanilla, and i think it's still a little feminine.

I undersestimated SDJ for sooo long, but recently decided to try Cheirosa '59 and fell in love. Naturally, I wanted to try some more of the mists and omg THIS ONE!!! This is such a gorgeous summer scent with suprisingly good longevity. The initial spray is a little bit iffy, but after just a few moments, it settles into a beautiful, sweet sandalwood and lasts for hours. It has a bit of a sunscreen vibe, which is not a problem for me, because I adore sunscreeny type scents. I'm not big on most warm weather frags, so finding this has been such a joy...it may just be my signature scent for this hot a$$ LA summer. :)

I was lucky to find this on clearance for $9.99 at my local Marshall’s. I love anything fig, so when I googled the scent in the store to get more info, I was thrilled to see that listed. It’s definitely all the things people are mentioning—fresh, jungle, zesty, but I’m surprised nobody is saying they smell black licorice. It is absolutely the very first thing I smell even before the fig and champagne! For $10, I think it’s a great deal, but don’t expect it to linger on your skin all day.

The opening is so green it's almost minty cold, which surprised me very positively! In just a couple minutes, the scent turns into a warm woody vanilla that sits verrry close to the skin, but lasts quite well and can be smelled clearly if you take your hand up to your nose, which is my exact expectation from a body splash. 100% safe to wear to any occasion, as it's discreet, elegant and understated. The fig is not prominent after the drydown, but I'm happy with the overall performance!

I’m sad that most people don’t like this, but I’m not surprised. There is a somewhat harsh, medicinal top note that I think turns a lot of folks off. If you can get through that note you will get a lovely sultry woody dry-down. I even kind of like the harshness of it. It’s very unique in this day and age of super sweet scents. This is not one for the casual SDJ fans, this is one for people who are a bit more adventurous. Personally I find myself being drawn to it over and over.

This has a different vibe than other summer body mists. I love it. Rather than going in an aquatic/coconut/citrus direction as sooo many other summer fragrances do, this is greener and more woody with some sweetness from the vanilla and fig. I do also pick up the sandalwood in here and it’s a nice soft feminine sandalwood similar to what is found in Tom Ford Santal Blush. The sandalwood comes out a bit more on my skin as it dries down. Very unique.

This is absolutely amazing! Open up to what smells like a crisp green apple note mixed with coconut milk. Then it dries down to a powdery and clean woody fragrance. This is not juvenile like some other Sol de Janeiro scents, this is more of a cool effortless girl/guy scent. It's elegant yet still retains a youthful quality. It reminds me a bit of Dior Addict. If you know, you know.

This one surprised me but honestly? sol never lets me down. this was a blind buy based off the notes during the sephora sale and I haven't put it down. I love fig but it can give me a bit of whiplash from house to house because theyre all so different but sol's fig (and that incredible pear note) really make this so smooth and creamy. it also lasts forever on me

Sparkling, creamy, warm, sweet, addicting. Such a good value for a long-lasting mist with depth. The main notes that I get while wearing this are: Pear, Vanilla, Champagne, and Sandalwood. Great for summer, but I can see myself wearing this in the fall and spring as well. I may need to stock up on a couple more bottles before they sell out.

i love this. i bought it blind. i wish i could wear it everyday but the coconut can be a little much for me on some days. it smells like dancing with a man on the beach after partying at the club all night long. it’s a soft, slightly powdery perfume with the smallest hint of cologne and the salty coconut smell of the beach.

i think i left a review on here before, however wanted to mention: if you enjoy a fresh, woody + fig note, i highly recommend philosykos by diptique!! whenever my dad uses it, i first thing who used dança mística lol. its stronger of course without the chemical aspect of sdj fragrances. so yes, philosykos recommendation!

At first I found this a bit too creamy and heavy for summer. I love sandalwood but not fig so much. But this has grown on me a lot and find that this and cheirosa 40 and 62 are so beautiful together. There is something in here that smells a little like cucumber and mint? I don’t know if I’m insane but I’m loving it

I love it. From this new 2025 limited edition line this is the only one which is not extremely synthetic and cheap. Amazingly fresh, very crisp and very calming- the fig here is the superhero. I cannot compare it to any of SDJ scents so far but this one is magical and much more masculine than the other two.

I really like this! I have a theory that because it doesn’t smell like Sol de Janeiro it receives a lot of negative feedback from Sol de Janeiro-lovers. I find it quite deep and complex, similar to one of the Glossier You’s. Dries down to a coconutty skin scent. A summer scent for skin-scent-lovers!

This is my favourite sdj scent ever. Im so sad it was a limited edition for the summer, im always on a mission to find bottles of this. it lasts so long on me and just smells like a hot summer night, sunscreen, champagne and everything in between.

WOAH- It’s super different from anything SDJ has ever put out. It’s super herbal, fresh, and figgy. It almost has a minty background?? This may be my favorite SDJ scent to date and I might have to go buy a backup...

Its addictive for me. Nostalgic scent reminds me of my favorite discontinued shower gel from planet spa from avon. Its interesting. I can smell fig and sandalwood. I hope that vanilla will be stronger with time.

It's both uplifting and melancholic. And very nostalgic. A great complement to Santal Blanc.

ahh the science of so many different reviews on 1 scent - i've seen pickle, fig, jungle and rainforest loving it! Proving how subjective and singular scent experiences can be so you always have to trust your nose and only your nose! My turn to share what my experience was today, i found this SDJ scent by accident in a TJ Maxx where I do not normally shop. I wondered in there to find a pair of sandals last minute because i forgot to change my shoes on a time crunch headed to an event. I saw the bright green mist sticking out like a sore thumb among the pinks, golds and clears and got curious. Sprays on opening for me as a bright, sweet, juicy and green aquatic scent that favors lily of the valley the strongest to me. On the midd notes I can pick up the pear very well and it dries down on my skin as a sweet pear champagne and amber scent with a dewy finish. I really like it, would enjoy this in a lasting EDP formula as mists do not last very long. Great for beach, lake and pool days or spring weather.

Some fragrances are made to be worn on a sweaty summer day and this is one of them! The ripeness of the fig carries to the dry down, even if to the nose it is no longer that identifiable as fig specifically, it's that slight sweet ripeness that has a similar profile to body odor that makes this perfect as a kinda sexy sweaty skin scent. Performance has been impressive to me, it doesn't shout but does cast a great trail that picks up throughout the day even after 5+ hours of wear for me. Close to the body but it has a presence on my skin. Great for layering with more floral or organic sweet scents. Combining this with Raheeq Nusuk brings out the best in both perfumes. I think if any other brand released this fragrance the reviews would be more generous. I think this is easily unisex but perhaps for many SDJ lovers the lack of a more overwhelming sugary or overt floral aspect makes it seem less feminine in the brand context. Worth a try and a great gym fragrance if nothing else.

I like this one, but it's not quite love. I expected this to be my favourite of this year's offerings as I adore fig, but right now I think I like the pink one more (I haven't got the blue yet but might still). I definitely get the fig, it reminds me of a musky / woody / fig scent, something like Matiere Premiere's Parisian Musc. In the dry down it has a woody / green touch and there is a cedar / creamy sandalwood vibe. I don't find this masculine but it is absolutely unisex, so reads more masc-leaning than every other SDJ as they are usually v feminine, so if you only like overtly sweet / fruity scents this one is definitely a little more unusual for SDJ. I quite like that though, would rather the scents are a bit more original and unique so appreciate this one for that.

I bought this body mist as a blind buy. I initially didn't like it very much, maybe because I wasn't expecting this scent, considering the other fragrances Sol de Janeiro carries. However, the more I smell it the more I'm beginning to like it. It gives off hints of citrus, and to me kind of smells like mint chocolate chip ice cream which is absolutely delicious. Wore it out for the first time today by itself and already got complimented. Would definitely recommend this fragrance, but make sure to smell it beforehand, as it may not be everyone's cup of tea and is certainly a unique scent.

Really different from the other SDJ scents which I can appreciate! This one can be considered unisex. The fig adds just a bit of jammy sweetness to the sandalwood, which is fresh, a bit peppery, not too pickley. The scent as a whole is described as "rich" in the marketing campaign but I find this rather bright and punchy. Unfortunately maybe a little too bright as the sandalwood is sort of abrasive. I like it, not sure if I love it.

I think SDJ clearly wanted their own spin of Phlur's father figure. I definitely get those vibes but not sure if it's exactly close enough to be a dupe. It's less juicy of a fig, it's creamier and lusher. FF is definitely juicy in my mind. This has le beau paradise garden's fig note in it. Sillage is skin to arm's length, max. Wear testing longevity as I type this.

i really REALLY like this. it's not at all what i expect from sdj, and doesn't feel as sunny-beachy as their other scents, but it's warm, woody, a little spicy, a little sweet, very comforting. it's kind of like a blend between phlur father figure and a gentler version of santal 33. i'm really excited to get my bottle

Green like the bottle, LOTS of sandalwood. Very good. Fruity flourmand. (Many other reviewers found this masculine, I think that's the fig, personally. Sandalwood is woody of course but usually rather unisex smelling. But I have found other perfumes with fig to be masculine, too. Just a theory!)

I just got it, my honest opinion that this is not your usual sol de janeiro mist, it's unisex but lean more masculine in my opinion, it reminds me of To Be Camouflage by Police, as a boy I will definitely rock with this one 🥰💚

This is so unique to me. I quite like it. It really is so woody, earthy, green and sparkly at first!!! I cannot see myself reaching for this during the summer, it's very spring to me. I love wearing this in my hair.

Ke3ke3, I pick up the scent of coconut as well, intertwined with fresh green notes, a hint of mint, and warm woods. It's unisex and truly intriguing.

Please make this permanent. Very sophisticated for a body mist and pretty. It’s definitely fruity fig and not green with lots or sandalwood. Mmmm

Truly like this. The listed fig note (which I hate) scares me but it wasn’t prominent to my nose. Mostly get a smooth refined sandalwood.

Warm, sweet, fruity, floral, creamy, woody, rich, sensual, intriguing, mysterious, unique On me this opens with a rich and somewhat jammy fig note, bubbly champagne, a touch of the fresh, green, and almost syrupy fruity sweetness of Anjou pear, sweet and delicate Lily-of-the-valley, and warm and creamy vanilla. As it dries down the creamy sandalwood, the golden warmth of amber, and sensual vanilla come through more prominently. The fig also lingers throughout the whole wear. The notes that are the most prominent on me are the fig, vanilla, sandalwood, and amber. This has a sweetness to it, but it’s not an overly sweet scent. This is very different from all of the other SDJ scents, and just overall rather unique. I know this isn’t a love for me, but it’s not something that I dislike either. Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out how I about this one. I got all 3 of the new limited edition summer mists, and I think this one is my least favorite of the bunch (Flor Mística is definitely my favorite!). To me this leans feminine, but I can definitely see and understand it being considered unisex. I think this is most suited/best fitting during spring, summer, and fall. This feels like it will work well for most occasions besides the fancier ones. I get great performance with Dança Mística, especially considering it’s a mist. The longevity is very good, I get at least 8+ hours. The projection is nice, it radiates out about 2-3 feet from me. For some reference, I own all of the permanent SDJ mists, Coco Cabana, 39, Summer é Amor, Beijos de Sol, Carioca Crush, and the new summer’25 limited edition trio. My favorites are Coco Cabana/39, Summer é Amor, Flor Mística, 62, 40, and 71

I really like this! It's definitely very different from every other SDJ scent, but it smells sooo nice. I see a lot of people saying there's a sharpness to it, but personally I only get a little bit of that in the opening from the champagne note. After that it's still a brighter, fresh scent, but somehow at the same time really warm and cozy. It almost smells like there's cinnamon or something. I think I'm appreciating the combo of pear, amber, and sandalwood. This is the first fig scent I've tried that I really like. I don't enjoy Phlur Father Figure, and I only somewhat like B&BW Guilty as Fig. Honestly though, I don't even know what a real fig smells like so I couldn't say if the fig in this is "realistic." Definitely a unisex fragrance, I think leaning more on the feminine side. In the Sephora there's a graphic on the display for this line suggesting this layers well with Cheirosa '40. I tried to spray the mist of both of them in the air at the same time and they actually worked well together! In the air at least, I couldn't say whether or not they truly layer together well for actual wear throughout the day. I can't remember quite what it smelled like but I think '40 brought some fruitiness and more vanilla

This is very different than the typical Sol de Janeiro scent, It's definitely not what I expected. Can't say I'm very dissapointed though because I don't hate it, but I'm not sure what to think. It's very green, not floral and for sure not sweet at all. I can't really smell fig, maybe a very green, unripe fig. I didn't even notice the minty smell until I saw some people talking about it and now I can't un-smell it. I don't mind the mint, but it's not a nice sweet mint either, it's very sharp in a way. It's also masculine leaning I think, unlike any SDJ mist, so I think if you're looking for a masculine scent, you would like this, but if you're looking for that usual tropical, sweet, floral SDJ scent, you will be dissapointed. It was a blind buy for me, and I think I will hold on to it for a while still, because I was very enthusiastic about this collection, but probably wouldn't have bought it if I smelled it in store.

I purchased this as a blind buy because it was under a good sale. What I will say is that this body mist didn’t exceed my expectations. If you have used any other fragrances from this brand, I would say that this one is quite distinct in the fact that it is fresh, sparkly, and a bit floral. The longevity for this is expected — very weak, although I do find a little scent trails during the day, here and there when I spray this on my clothing. I would not pre-purchase this because I do think that there are better body mists on the market, although this would be perfect for an out the shower scent, before layering with other perfumes

Sampled this at a local TJ Maxx using an open bottle. Smelled it from the bottle. I was intrigued. So I sprayed my clean hand. Immediately I got a dewy jungle, ripe fig scent. Within 10 minutes I got dill pickle. I love dill pickles but I don’t want to smell of it. I’m also a huge fan of sandalwood and rarely get pickles from it. After about 30 minutes I was left perplexed. I still get a bit of pickles.

i have nothing to compare this to, honestly it confuses my nose so much. i wish it was warmer and heavier, it’s honestly quite powdery, green and light which i wasn’t expecting. it does not smell like father figure, though i wish it did. smells a little like sunscreen?

Blind buy, a little too masculine for my taste but I use it as a car spray. It sounded like my perfect notes but it’s far too woody for me. Nice to see SDJ try something new.

I think this might be SDJ’s most interesting scent ever. I don’t hate this, but it does NOT fit in with SDJ branding. I’d be more tempted to wear this in the spring or fall than summer. I get what many are saying about this smelling a bit masculine. It does start off a bit musky/cologne smelling. I don’t get any mintiness. When this dries down it smells kind of like Diptyque Philosykos to me, but worse and barely there. SDJ is known for their summer scents and gourmands-frankly I think this little venture into green woody territory was a flop and that they should stick to what they do best. As far as fig perfumes go, there’s no reason to buy this over Phlur’s Father Figure or Philosykos unless you’re on a tight budget.

Am I like, experiencing severe phantosmia right now..?? COCONUT ISN'T LISTED AS A NOTE!?! The moment I sprayed it, my eyes rolled alllllll the way back in my head... "oh, how creative, another bland a$$ coconut fragrance". Now that it's been on my skin for a little bit, whatever was giving me coconut on spray has faded away - I totally see why some might consider it masculine leaning. This fragrance... is quite odd? Not what I would expect from SDJ, but good on them for taking the risk. That said, I don't like it. Smells spicey. But oddly, if I smelled this on a man, I would probably think he smelled good. Just not my preference. But kudos to SDJ for doing something outside of their norm.
