Black Mallow

I wore this one for a few days before finally writing a review. Projection is mild, though it does waft; and this thing lasts forever. I put it on in the evening, and in the morning when I woke up I could still smell a hint of marshmallow. Speaking of the notes... if you were looking for a black licorice scent, where licorice is the true star, look no further. I was lucky enough to get this in a swap (it's discontinued), but it was everything I'd hoped it would be. The licorice is true, with aspects of fennel running underneath. (Another reviewer mentioned wintergreen, and I don't think they're wrong.) The marshmallow doesn't come out until *much* later, so in the meantime you're left with licorice goodness. Now I'm scratching my head as to why Angela St. John would discontinue this?!

Black licorice is strong, almost has a wintergreen bite to the licorice note. I love it. Settles into this really nice black licorice accord with a creamy sweet base. The scent at the end of its wear is really nice. Too bad they discontinued this one.

This is awesome when layered with Hypnotic Poison! I've always wanted more licorice from HP, and now I've got it! Alone, this oil is 90% Black (licorice) and 10% Mallow. For lovers of black jellybeans only.

In the bottle this is a sweet, fluffy mix of black licorice and marshmallow. Sadly the marshmallow turned to salty play-doh on my skin so I had to swap it away.

Tried this one today and loved it! Strong licorice to start then the wonderful vanilla/mallow base amps up in the middle through the end. I had no problems with the longevity of the oil..I can still smell it now almost 12 hours later but I did liberally slather on the insides and tops of my forearms. I always apply unscented Aveeno lotion (with green label) on my arms before spraying/applying perfume and I do believe this really helps the fragrance last too. I am progressing through all the Solstice Scents mallow perfumes and next on my list is Snowmint Mallow with the winter release. Sadly Smoky Mountain Mallow was just discontinued so I have to wait and hope for that one to get reformulated.
