Conjure Dark

A nice, resinous frankincense. I think its just what you would expect it to be. It is certainly all the notes say it will be and lasts for quite awhile. If you are just looking for a nice frankincense scent, it will certainly do the trick and will make you feel and smell like Fall. It has only been on about and hour so I haven't noticed it morphing much as other noted. Try it out! It is a great value.

tried the oil version. initially it showed itself as a nice incense, rather dry and a bit dark, I though well, didn't blow my socks off. however, I know, that Solstice oils tend to be master morphers, et voilá, an hour later, I could not stop sniffing my wrist. The most gorgeous resins appeared, mouth-watering, rich, golden and rounded. Big winner!

31st EDP: This is a very typical masculine cologne smelling scent, with the same background of dry, metallic smelling sawdust like Conjure. It’s a shame, as I was looking forward to this EDP based on notes and reviews. That sawdust smell comes up in many of my possible favorites by SS and ruins the scent for me. The other unpleasant note I notice in her perfumes is a musty closet smell, which I imagine is some type of patchouli, but the worst type in my opinion. There are much better patchoulis out there that don’t smell like old musty closets combined with beets, which is the one that she uses in her scents generally (and which ruins her scents for me) :( So beware, frankincense and patchouli are dominant here. 2/10

Burning resins - frankincense copal - astringent in comparison with the creamy amber gold. Rose petals dessicated from the smoke. Earthy vetiver invoking timeless memories. The perfume of a dark incantation as promised. I love scented magic. It takes us to places we could not visit otherwise. Angela St. John of Solstice Scents has created a place within her company, the town of Foxcroft, where magic is real and witches roam. Her fragrances are fanciful, filled with fantastic essences combined to transport and enchant. Conjure Dark does just that. Hand blended artisanal imagination!

Conjure is prob my favorite of the SS "incense" scents. It smells like half of Shalimar, and I can't get enough. When Conjure Dark came back into stock, I grabbed a roller for my collection/library of SS. I know CD is a "new" scent, so it's not Conjure's relative per se, but I can say it's a relative of Foxcroft, Fox Intense, Travelers, Séance, Scrying Smoke, etc. Dark earthy oily patchouli/incense. Great for layering, but for a stand-alone I need more like Casting Shadows with it's sugar maple incense.

The presentation is great: clear indication on origin of alcohol base (sugar beets) and flashcard of recommendations, such as, letting perfume "settle" after shipment before use. The main fragrance notes to my nose are balsam, incense, and rose, unisex but to me leaning towards the feminine. I have an almost full bottle that I would part with as I have something similar (All Good Things) in my collection.

This is everything I expected from Conjure. Spicy and powdery. It sits between Obsession and Opium if you're wondering about comparisons. I'm also catching hints of Manor's woody vanilla. I like my scents bold and this one fits the bill nicely.
