Crimson Sap & Sassafras

I got this because I was intrigued by the use of sassafras as a main note and I do love dragons blood. I’ve had it for a few months but I’ve been waiting for warmer weather since it is part of SS’s summer line. When I first got it I thought it smelled way too confusing with many contrasting elements. But today I went all in and applied it heavily. The sassafras and dragons blood are for sure front and center. The sassafras is very strong and green at first but it does settle into that root beer smell. The main players last a while then it dries down to a creamy and slightly powdery finish. It’s been about 8 hours and now I’m getting benzoin frank and vanilla. The marshmallow is faint. I did not get any anise and could barely trace the palo santo. I think they are there to support the others. Despite the votes on here I think it leans masculine. I’d say cream/powder masculine which sounds weird. I thought it was a bit too odd and overpowering when I first received It but it became very nice with resting and is definitely more suited for warmer weather. Very unique.

A soft note of sweet lemongrass in the background. Would have nailed the fresh~picked Sassafras leaf off a sapling. {the soft fluffy, velvet leaves} that smell clean, herbaceous slightly citrus 🍋/🍊 and slightly sweet. {not root beer or candy sweet). Like a "fresh, herbaceous, "I'm in-the-woods" soft type of "sweet leaf" The adult tree leaves have a different type of scent. Each piece from leaf, bark, pulp, root and oil smell a bit different as well. I live in the USA. So specifically Sassafras leaf oil is not permitted for sale.

This scent is so good for having a tasty dinner, perhaps a barbecue. It makes the smoky meal taste so good! Even french fry is more unique and interesting in flavor.

I really tried to enjoy this one on myself, but something in the perfume is giving it a toothpaste vibe. My boyfriend even asked if I had brushed after I put it on. I do get the root beer-cinnamon notes, with a soft resinous musky tone. I think the scent would be better off as a candle, so I have started using it with my wax melts. The scent actually comes off better in my opinion. I hope it works better on others than it did on me.

Don't put too much on. It is a beast. A dab will do you. Reminds me of Indian perfume attars found in mystic head shops. Will use it for layering. Will go so well with oud or/and rose. Longevity on my skin so far has been about 4 hours strong projecting and 12 hours intimate. A definite bang for your buck.

I totally get what the previous reviewer said about a toothpaste vibe. It definitely has something minty in the beginning but it fades. Sweet and spicy root beer/cream soda and dragon's blood resin. Warm, soft, and pleasant. I like it!

The opening is quite fun with sarsaparilla soda pop! Sweet and spicy with a special fizz. Unfortunately the dry down takes on a rubbery note that smells like a warm inner tube. Wow, distinct root beet and star anise/fennel with a bit of spice. Just a tad intimate playdough, like inhaling the very surface of a piece of smooth playdoh. I have this same thing with Estate Vanilla and a number of other gourmands by this house, sadly. This one is slightly better though. Super interesting, but maybe an acquired taste.

I get a root beer float with some musk and that’s about it. I agree with the reviewer below that Crimson Sap & Sassafras would make a great scented candle. Not one of my favorites from Solstice Scents.
