Estate Carnation

This perfume is absolutely addicting. I just received my first order from Solstice Scents. Mostly I ordered samples, but when I saw the elements of this fragrance there was no doubt in my mind that I would not regret ordering the largest size they offered. At first it was not what I expected (expectations are the enemy of a thrilling life) The moments before my first smell I was filled with the anticipation of a spicy clove infused carnation. I am obsessed with clovey carnations...and cloves in general. It was not quite the floral fragrance that I had imagined at first. It was a sweet and joyful flower scent. I liked it very much and kept sniffing for the mysterious shadows that I knew were hiding...and then there they were, incense, resins and thick sensual vanilla. This fragrance reveals itself in embroidered veils. By the fourth day of wearing this fragrance I think it has infused my entire life. It is very potent. My hair, my clothes, everything has whisps and tendrils of this perfume. It is a magical fragrance, it feels alive and very vibrant even though it has a very mysterious heart. Never discontinue this please!

My search for a carnation focused perfume started and ended with Estate Carnation. First the Carnation blast and then the spice right after and then the resins with the vanilla and smoke dancing in and out from beginning to end. But it's more like most of the notes dancing throughout. The rose ever so lightly there playing peekaboo with the spices. The orris is in the background but it's there adding it's cool magical touch. So far the drydown on me is smokey/resiney/spicey vanilla with something ever so light that I can't put my finger on yet but it's something lovely that contributes to the overall vibe of Angela's vision here.

this starts with carnation and something a bit dusty. it's dry and spicy. after a few more minutes i get some resins and a more sweet spiciness. it's all carnation and resins on me. something smells like cacao in the background, which i think may be the vanilla & orris combo (?) i don't sense much rose in this. i love carnation and love how spicy this is.

I find this one difficult to describe. It has to be sampled to be fully known and understood. It starts off smoky on me and I definitely like it and the fact that it's a little challenging. It reminds me of La Fumee by Miller Harris in vibe. There is smoky incense throughout and it's quite pleasant. It smells oriental, smoky and floral but it's blended so well I can't pick out individual flowers. A satisfying and solid perfume. It blooms wonderfully after its had time to develop on the skin. Excellent longevity too. It's moorish and I like it more the longer I wear it on my skin. I bought a sample pack from Solstice Scents after reading the fragrantica article the house and being very intrigued by their offerings. I like every single sample I ordered. They smell natural and some are quite unique. -

37th EDP: I sprayed it and immediately was sickened by a smell of something odd...to me it smelled like chewed up corn chips/ corn nuts (you know, when you smell someone elses breath while they are eating them-disgusting) or musty hotel carpeting(that smell). I guess one reviewer points out a “butter” smell, which in my experience is just as bad and I assume she is smelling what I smell with a different interpretation. Everything underneath, when that nauseating note passes, is wonderful. Oh why oh why do you have to ruin this lovely piece with that corn chip or butter note or whatever it is? It’s all a deep sweet floral clove goodness underneath. Would get a fb if that awful opening note was cut. 6/10

This is everything I imagined and more! It's definitely a sweet bite at first, carnation and complementary rose full on, but then seconds later a kind of sweet (not too sweet) powder and butter note appears. I keep smelling it, and yes, there really is a bit of butter moving it away from a strictly floral scent. Perhaps that's the poppy, or the oris. A mildly sweet incense-like smoke suffuses the whole atmosphere, but does not take over the rich spicy aspect of the carnation. Some of the subtle sweetness may also be attributed to the rose which is in a supporting role to the carnation--a lovely and rare scent for the carnation lover (there are not that many of us). I find it highly comforting and appropriate for date night or snuggle night. I do NOT find it old fashioned, but it probably would not suit younger bubble-scent trendsetters or vaguely floral soap-seekers of clean, office-friendly perfumes. Beautiful.

A deeply gothic glamour amber, a musky murky chypre-adjacent fragrance that smells simultaneously like the figure in the white nightdress running from the manor house with the lone candle lit in the window at midnight and the surprise succubus that this figure is secretly possessed by--it's all the iconic tropes of Avon Satanic Romance novel, and it's perfect.
