Foxcroft Fairgrounds

I was weary of blind buying this, as it would be my first purchase from Solstice Scents and I've had an -okay- experience with indie oils before. Most of the indie oils I've sampled basically smell the same, easy to pick apart and mostly composed of EOs. Botanical, pleasant, most of the time very headshop-y. Foxcroft Fairgrounds does have this mark of indie oils--it reminds me of a headshop with low lights and sweet incense burning. It is a lot more complex of a smell than what I'm used to, however, and tells a story as it unravels. It really does smell like cream soda (rootbeer-ish, sometimes) at first, then journeys into cotton candy, and fall air (smoky like late September nights as we head into Halloween). It develops all the way here and arrives at the incense stage, fruity at times while retaining some black sweetness. It is an evocative fragrance. I was afraid that this would smell something like Pink Sugar or other conventionally sweet gourmands. It does not: this is a goth witch with a sweet tooth. Absolute love. EDIT: This has very little throw but great longevity. I can still detect the incense on my skin 12 hours after applying.

This has recently become one of my favorite fall scents. When I first received it, I didn’t like it much. I thought it was too sweet and more feminine. After a long time resting and fall hit I decided to retry it and love it now. I typically do not like sweet scents but the dirt and incense are a great balance. It may still lean feminine but I still love it on me. I think it is perfect for October and Halloween season. In the opening I mostly get funnel cakes and cotton candy. Then the dirt, leaves and fall air quickly follow. The incense comes through last but it is eternal on my skin and is what really makes me love this. I don’t know what kind of incense that fortune teller is burning but I want some. This might sound bad but it reminds me of how you smell the next day after a ..ummmm.. successful... date night at the fair. Sweet, kinda dirty and a hint of ladies perfume stuck to you.

WOW! I love this House! Every single scent I received has been absolutely incredible. 100% perfection to my nose. This one is no exception. With Fox croft Fairgrounds I smell the gorgeous scent of spices and incense and sweetness rolled into one. It immediately brings me to a dream I once had where I could fly. I remember being very aware of my dream, some say Lucid dreaming. I was flying all around and I swooped down dipped my finger tip into a puddle of cold water on a black pavement just before arriving at a sort of flea market. There were caravans and ornate stands everywhere and I could, literally in my dream, smell this very scent. It was a Gypsy spiced atmosphere with gorgeous clothes and roasted spices. I will never forget that dream and this brought me immediately back to the memory of such a surreal moment in my life. This scent is complete perfection!

This was my first full bottle purchase of an Indie scent and also my first atmospheric type scent. This perfume is totally fun and a love for me. The notes that stand out the most are the cotton candy, funnel cakes, and cream soda( Fragrantica doesn't list all of the scent notes). Its super yummy. I saw someone refer to it as a grown up cotton candy scent and I totally agree!! Every time I wear it, I get told I smell spicy lol. Im assuming that the incense notes? Also it kinda reminds me of lip smackers gloss, it has this cotton candy fruitiness about it. lol It also has a dusty/dirt/ dead leaves dry down but in a good way!! lol Will be a staple in my stash!

This is one of my favorite perfumes and I am elated to have a full bottle in my collection. There are definitely notes missing in the profile - make sure to read the website description because it is more accurate. I smell dead fallen leaves, incense-y smoke, cream soda, and sugary treats. SO good. I get compliments on this a lot. Not so much like "what perfume are you wearing?", but rather "something smells REALLY good." and I KNOW IT'S ME, OKAY? There's no way they are referring to anything else cos this perfume is freakin awesome.

Wow this is a really great scent, gourmand lovers should definitely give it a try. Some notes are missing and they are all listed on the Solstice Scents website. It starts out with a blast of smoke and dirt almost smelling like actual fairgrounds. It dries down to a creamy sweet scent with cotton candy, cream soda and funnel cakes, while the smokiness is still in the background. This is honestly the best cotton candy scent I've smelled.

sweet cream soda, smoky woods, and rich incense. The cotton candy adds an airy sweetness for the entire scent and the added sugar note isn’t cloying as it blends with the woods and smoke. This scent manages to be both bubbly, airy, syrupy sweet and woody, smoky, and rich. An atmospheric masterpiece!

this is my ultimate fall scent. it immediately brings me to an autumn carnival but i feel like it can be anytime of year but its so warm and sweet i love it for cooler seasons.

I'm obsessed. It's creeping through a haunted carnival in mid-October. Your hands are still sticky from cotton candy, and the woods are swallowing you whole.

It's kind of crazy how realistic the smell is compared to the notes. It smells exactly how it shows, sweet cream soda, vanilla, and a bit of spice.

Purchase this a few weeks back based on the rave reviews. Hmmm. Not very sweet, intense incense and smoke notes. Where is the cotton candy? Letting it rest. I will come back for a review. Hopefully it will be better in another month. 10/2021- I literally have not been able to wear this scent as it is quite a strong incense/smoke. After over a year of sitting, yes it is sweeter, but not by much. Cotton candy? ha. um no. where? It is a fall scent, incense and smoky with a slight sweetness. Does not remind me of fair grounds or carnivals. It reminds me a witchy book shop that sells tarot cards, incense, incantations, candles, and such. 09/2022- It has been 2 years since i purchased this. It is still not very sweet or gourmand. This scent is dominated by incense and smokey notes with subtle sweetness behind. Cotton candy it is NOT. Does it remind me of fall or fair grounds? Not much. But isn't a scent for summer or spring, so I suppose fall/winter would be the best time to wear. It still smells like a witchy bookshop.

Foxcroft Fairgrounds is 50/50 sweet and earthy--a somewhat strange, yet enjoyable, combination. I envision a village in the Northeast in the late 1700's on a chilly fall evening. Everyone is dressed like the people in M. Night Shyamalan's movie The Village. You can smell the gloomy mist that hovers around the dirt roads, decaying leaves and old wooden structures. Through the darkness you can see the glow of a fall carnival up ahead with the scent of caramel apples and fresh taffy drifting in the air. There’s a lot of petrichor in this fragrance too. It's musty and damp. I enjoy this perfume and find it very wearable, almost like a vanilla-patchouli combo, except it's petrichor-caramel instead. Angela's fragrances are so whimsical and transportive! The bad news is that while I like the fragrance a lot, it gives me a bad headache every time I wear it.

I love this. The scent isn't something I would typically like. I get something that is going across as a green note, maybe the ozone note? I usually really dislike green or grassy smelling note but this perfume is the one exception. This a complicated scent. Its sweet but not to sweet with that grassy scent running through it all, then a touch of smokiness. And everything is in just the right amount. It is just amazing. Solstice Scents is my favorite oil company. I have a few & they all smell fantastic & I never have issues with longevity or silage.

I am on the fence about this one, I like it but I have to be in the right mood to wear it. It is the perfect scent for Halloween or horror movie marathons. The crisp fall air, woodsmoke, and cream soda are the most dominant notes for me. When I wear it, the scent first smells powerfully of damp earth and then morphs into the sweeter concessions of a fairground. It reminds me of going to the haunted forest near Halloween and smelling the atmosphere of fall mixing with the sweets- or movies like The Houses October Built. Very Halloweenie and nice!

When you first get this, make sure to give it at least 6 weeks or so to rest. If you try it before then, it will not develop past the "wet dirt" first note. Now that mine has been resting for over 2 months, I can finally smell it transition from the wet dirt top note, which is less photorealistic now (thankfully), to the cotton candy note with a hint of incense in the background. This does remind me of Pink Sugar, but a much more pleasant version with only the barest hint of licorice.

I really like this, i don't think i could wear it on its own i plan to layer it with Manor from her. I get decaying leaves and hay laid out across fair grounds in the summer heat, the fair goers have all dropped their caramel apples on the ground where they lay during the heat of the day and into the night intensifying their sweetness but they are starting to rot. It's gotten dark the gypsies are in tents burning incense, dancing and drinking. I think this is really cool.

What a deliciously fun scent! I get Smokey (cream soda) with hefty doses of very realistic cotton candy. This is a scent with a buttery, luxurious texture. From a distance, the smoke and cream soda are most prominent, up close it gets sweet and almost waxy. I think that’s the fall air accord. I’m sure I will be reaching for this quite a bit on cold nights.

I have never actually had cream soda so I wouldn't know about that, but it smells like the sweet incense they use in the Indiska stores in Sweden and Finland. Very pleasing and uplifting, makes me think of hippies in colorful print leggings doing hula hooping at festivals. It blooms beautifully in the heat.

A fairground indeed! Exactly what it says it will be - though not nearly as sweet as I anticipated given the notes. The smoke and incense really come through and balance out the sweet vanilla cream and funnel cake vibe. I like it quite a lot and am impressed - though ultimately not sure this is for me.

Cream soda, cotton candy, and then fall leaves. My mom used to gather a ton of leaves in the fall and place them over her plants before winter set in. There is a note in here that reminds me of those crunchy, dead leaves. It's nostalgic for me so I enjoy this one from Solstice Scents.

This is probably my favorite Solstice Scent fragrance so far. Kind of has a carnival/sweaty/hot summer/sweets and grease kind of vibe if that makes sense. Enjoyable for what it is 7/10

An extremely complex scent. I mainly get an incense and cream soda bomb, but the sweetness really adds to this. This would make a very unique gourmand signature for someone.

I detected a hint of incense right at the start but it quickly disappeared into a fair foodie's delight of funnel cake and candy floss. Behind the warm sweets there is a cool breeze of autumn leaves and a damp whiff of ozone or wet metal... it must have rained that day at the fair. I can't find any of the smoke I was most excited about and the incense is incredibly faint, playing hide n seek. Right now this is just too sweet and light for my taste but I can see why some love this fun and unusual scent story. I just need my sweetness to have more of an edge so I'll be selling on this bottle to someone who will love it. Review of official Eau de Parfum 60mL spray bottle, purchased directly from SolsticeScents.com ADDENDUM So I bought the PERFUME EXTRAIT rollerball to compare with the EAU DE PARFUM spray, side by side. The spray is definitely more complex and nuanced. The PERFUME EXTRAIT is heavier, richer, sweeter, and I can't find even a hint of incense. Neither has any smoke. The EAU DE PARFUM is much more interesting, which I prefer, while the rollerball is more traditionally wearable as it's mainly gourmand with a stronger note of fall leaves. Very happy to have tried them both, (I would have always wondered about this fragrance), but it is not needed in my collection. UPDATE I'm keeping the rollerball for now... I find it interesting for atmospheric purposes... Alright, I like wearing it when reading the end of Charlotte's Web, okay? Judge me all you want. NOTE FOR ME I purchased these because of the cotton candy, metal, and smoke notes listed. I love DELIRIA, it's an incredibly unique and fun apple, cotton candy, and metal fragrance. I wanted to try something similar with a touch of smoke but FOXCROFT FAIRGROUNDS is lacking the smoke I was chasing and also seems like a muddled scent story. I find it confusing and too sweet.

This is fun! I have the perfume oil, which opens with a very strong soil accord that eventually softens but is very noticeably present throughout the duration of wear. It dries down quite head-shoppy, with lots of fruity vanilla incense, and that soil note standing in for the patchouli that you generally find wafting around such establishments. I detect something kind of savory- maybe a whiff of caramel corn? I certainly wouldn’t have smelled this and thought “oh yes, cream soda and cotton candy,” as the sweet notes with that soil base create a bit of an indistinguishable miasma that’s definitely nostalgic and pleasant. All in all this fragrance does a pretty decent job of recreating the scent of a fortune teller’s tent at a fair ground, for sure! The company’s website says this has over 30 notes, which I find a bit hard to believe. I don’t find this overly complicated, and it’s sweetness and soft sillage make it quite wearable, especially as the weather starts cooling down as we go into autumn.

I want to like this one so much...but I just don't. When I read the notes, I thought to myself that they sounded brilliant. I like all the notes by themselves... Together? Not good. I think it's the combo of cream soda and incense that I am not loving. So disappointing! I think I am going to wait until I have my baby in a month and see if I still don't like it then...

I really want to like it, but the spicy-incense note is overpowering and gives me a headache. Complex in layering, but comes across extremely synthetic. I'll try again in a few months and see if it ages differently.

Received a sample of this with my order of Owl Creek Ale Works (not in database). While the OCA is purely luscious caramel sticky toffee pudding and earthy hops, the Foxcroft Fairgrounds falls flat. The notes on this looked heavenly. Sadly it did not deliver. ALL I smell is Vicks Vapor Rub... a medicinal mess. It is not sweet in the least, nor vanillic, nor do I detect the cream soda or cotton candy notes at all. Ugh! Granted I have been suffering from a head cold. I will test at a a later date when my rhino virus is gone.

This is one of the most-hyped fragrances from Solstice Scents, but I have to admit I'm a but underwhelmed. I'm not getting any smoke or incense, that's the problem - I'm *just* getting the cream soda and cotton candy. I don't normally care for sugar bombs without a counterbalance. Edit: this fragrance actually dried down to arthritis cream, not even joking

I received my sample in October 2019 and just retried it in February 2020. On me it just smells like incense and smoke and nothing else. It honestly reminds me of the way early 2000s Hot Topic used to smell like. I was really excited about this scent and it's honestly the one I like the least from my sample pack. Maybe it needs more time to rest.

This is how I know I’m not a gourmand lover because I absolutely hate the type of sweetness this scent evokes. It falls in the same category as Xerjoff Italica to me: sickly sweet and trying too hard to smell like something edible. It’s just pure sugar with some smoke in the background. It’s a no for me. I would hate to smell this on anyone. Only good thing is that Solstice scents have decent performance and are priced pretty well, including this one. Will definitely be giving this sample away in my next sale. 🤢

I hated this when I received it last October (2018). My review echoes Zelda's. Now that it's been resting for one year in a box in my closet the scent has definitely morphed into something quite lovely. Before it was straight up dark incense and smoke. Not my favorite notes to say the least. Also an almost "dirty" scent, like the ground at a fair. Now it's an almost soothing cream pop/gourmand/sugar fragrance with nice ozone and some autumn smoke and a little atmospheric incense. Really perfect for October! Great for the first chilled days of fall that keep getting later and later it seems!

I absolutely love this scent, but agree this is one that benefits from a good resting time. All her scents really get better with age like fine wine. Foxcroft Fairgrounds smells like sweet cotton candy, vanilla, a hint of apple brandy and the slightest tendrils of smoke and dirt. As you wear it, the funnel cake scent really emerges. It’s really quite delicious.

i almost couldn’t make sense of this. as in, my brain was computing so many stimuli at once it just returned an “error” message. that said, i do think i like this. i just personally probably wouldn’t wear it as a perfume (probably due to the smokiness). i think i prefer my home to smell like this instead, especially in the fall.

Amazing scent. Absolutely love this perfume, I'm also a big fan of Rose Mallow and definitely want to try some other Solstice Scents. This perfume reminds me of an abandoned pumpkin farm (weird) and fall scented candles. One more thing it reminds me of are two children out trick-or-treating around midnight. :)

This fits my autumn perfume aesthetic so very well. It is soil, earthy dirt and cotton candy. It is the dark moist October and decaying leaves. And cotton candy. Listening to Nox Arcana and smelling whiffs of this little gorgeous mystical creature is an absolute satisfaction.

Incense cotton candy! I love this one, currently have the oil but am planning to get the EDP next. It has a deep quality and wears well on rainy days. It’s not overly sweet thanks to the smoky and atmospheric notes, but those aren’t the main stars on my skin.

This is one I really would love to try. I’ve worn Pink Sugar for years. This sounds like Hypnotic Poison with intriguing notes . I love the way Solstice Scents market their products. Each one like a fairy tale.

THE best carnival scent EVER. It's not just a straight up gourmand. This has something smokey in the base that takes me to a dark carnival night. Love it!!! I'm definitely getting the 60ml and the perfume oil!

AT first spritz, its all soil and cotton candy sweetness. The soil soon dissipates and ice cream and cotton candy stand out. There is a cotton candy incense feel in the drydown.

This is an incense BOMB. I couldnt smell the gourmand qualities.
