Lace Draped Spectre

Ohhh, this is pretty. I received a 1mL extrait sample as part of a larger order. Not smelling much rose. Mostly getting a lot of sweet, florals and powdery white musk. A vanilla candle burns in the distance... not really smelling that one either. It DOES vaguely smell like red hot candies but there's more powder and floral to it. Perfumes can smell totally different depending on where I apply them. On my wrists? Definitely has that soft, feminine "lace draped spectre" vibe. VERY powdery. A top note showcase of amorphous florals and sugar, toeing sweet flormand. Antecubitals? Sharper, astringent, still floral but spicy. I think it's the carnation and pink pepper hitting harder, giving it an uplifting zing. The base musks finally mellow out that powdery scent too. Crazy how the difference in acidity, trace chemicals and temp totally transform this into something I can see myself wearing. Probably best worn late summer or early fall to draw out all of the interesting notes and get a more balanced experience. Longevity on the wrists is about 6hrs. On the antecubes, I'm STILL smelling it at intimate sillage 10hrs later. Further, it has morphed into something that smells almost exactly like Marc Jacob's Oh Lola!, which is a hell of a twist but a nice one. Overall, a very pleasant scent journey.

Carnation is one of my favorite notes, and I am so happy I found this little gem! Beautiful, sweet, almost gourmand Carnations. So lovely!

38th EDP: This one pales next to the best parts of Estate Carnation, except it does not have a disgusting corn chip/ butter note. I sprayed a descent amount to make it stronger and when it settled, it smelled like the nicest sweet floral clove candle plus a floral shop note. Estate Carnation does not smell like a candle, but this does. Still, I bought a couple samples to see how it smells to me over time. I like it enough and I think it's an okay carnation interpretation. But, I have better carnation scents. Overall give it a try, as there's nothing offensive about it. I may get a couple more samples of this along with a full bottle this Fall of something else by SS. 7/10

I've noticed Solstice Scents does have that powdery note in almost all their fragrances. This one is no different. The vanilla and carnation is great, but that dirty rose and musk does give it that musty smell. Regardless, I enjoy it. It reminds me of those Red Hots candies, which I love because I like to suffer, and sometimes the Fireball whiskey in the beginning. Then it settles into a lovely, light vanilla-carnation. I wouldn't wear this in public, but I wear it at home and sometimes late at night because it's comforting. The name is very fitting.

I was hesitant to try this one because I'm not a huge fan of rose, but it was highly recommended. I'm glad I got a sample of it because it's a nice refreshing scent that (to me) doesn't have much of a rose scent at all.

Bought both the perfume oil and 2ml sample spray. Literally smells like a dusty, old, dark pantry with baking ingredients like flour, sugar, vanilla and salt in wooden jars. Also reminiscent of Indian rice, milk and tapioca pudding with the sweet, powdery cardamom. But the spice scent is not fresh at all, just very musty and choking. I’ve been wearing it on and off for a year, trying different thinks like rubbing my wrists together, applying little, applying lots, waiting a few days and the scent barely changed. People around me did not especially like the smell. One final day like a year later I wore the oil and rubbed my wrists again and I smelled a very milky vanilla creamed with sandalwood and a barely detectable hint of spice which was decently wearable. The spray also releases a creamy vanilla that lasts for months on your bedding. I only bought this based on the rave reviews of this scent. It’s certainly reminiscent of a ghostly apparition sitting in a Victorian era kitchen and draining the atmosphere with her melancholy...so perfect for Halloween!

oh WOW. the review that describes this as an old pantry with ingredients in wooden jars is absolutely spot on. there is something undeniably "grandma's house" about this—probably the combination of the musk and powdery effect?—but it's not unpleasant or heavy at all. i'm not getting baby powder and i'm not getting potpourri. the pepper does not come through at all on my skin but the carnation smell itself has a little zing to it, with that classic solstice scent photorealism. whenever i wear it i have to sniff my wrists every few minutes until it stop clinging as strongly. after that the vanilla note warms up and works marvels with the floral. this is so pretty and interesting—not my style at all, but so fascinating i might just full-size it. edit: boy howdy the LONGEVITY of this is wild. the throw dies away naturally but this clung to my wrists for a solid 18 hours. it didn't develop much more beyond what i've noted but i'm not mad at all about this.

I got a big box of fresh samples to test yesterday, and sniffing around the sprayers this one stood out immediately. Rich, amber coloured, spicy, honeyed...my type of scent! I was surprised to find carnation in there as I normally don't like it, but here to me it smells more like a spiced lily than a carnation. It does have an air of vintage around it but it's sweet and spicy in a modern way if that makes sense. Reminds me a lot of prairie nymph which I also loved. I think anything with dark juice that is honeyed and spicy will please me at this point :)) So long as it's not commercial or chemical. LACE DRAPED SPECTRE is sweet as a gentle whisper, alluring in an innocent way like an unconscious caress on the skin ... barely there but hauntingly unforgettable. I love it! The vanilla gives a touch of sweetness to the carnation and soft musk with a tinge of spice in the background. The floral notes reign, the wonderful vanilla complements them and the pepper adds excitement! A beautiful scent that softly lingers on the skin for around 6 hours.

This is more of a sweet musky carnation + vanilla. Carnations have a naturally spicy-floral aspect to them that's really quite interesting. This is lovely, cozy, and the sweetness makes it wearable to me (I prefer my perfumes to have some sweetness to them). It is not overly sweet or gourmand territory though. Very nice, smells a little more unique without going sideways.

To me, this lovely fragrance strongly evokes Prince Matchabelli Windsong, like it's a more modern, less warm/more cool, transparent version. It's very beautiful. Very carnation forward, but in an airy way, like being in an outdoor garden where carnations are blooming in abundance, but there are also roses growing not far away, and greenery all around.

This is really pretty spiced floral-vanilla type. The rose is not prominent. This is not a green-floral. It's a very mild red hot candies with vanilla. Super well done. Nothing overly spicy, which I was afraid of. I could wear this. Not sure it is 100% me but I like it.

It has a spicy floral scent. It reminds me of those red hot cinnamon candies as well. The dry-down is kind of like Nemat Vanilla Musk
